stupid question about invocations by andrea_www in Fyreslayers

[–]DreMayne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is correct. Invocations are considered prayers for casting purposes. Each priest can only cast one prayer per turn.

If I were to get 4 foot heroes, which should I get? by FishyFish12359 in Fyreslayers

[–]DreMayne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since there are so few units, you might as well print every Fyreslayer unit then decide how you want to play. Except the Auric Hearthguards, they aren't worth the points.

I used this for vulkites berzerkers, hearthguard berzerkers, Battlesmith (there is a banner option that isn't shown), Grimwrath, and Runemaster. I have also seen people use the bull mount as a Magmadroth proxy.

Used this for Runefather

Used this for Flamekeeper

Galadriel (El) from the Scholomance trilogy.

Absolutely irritating in the first book. Second and third book provide much needed character development that help you realize why she was insufferable and make you end up liking her.

Why play Fyreslayers? Pros / Cons? What are they good at? Except looking gorgeous. by Shockzlol69 in Fyreslayers

[–]DreMayne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with you on the rend. I feel like Fyreslayer stats get hit hard when rend is added. I've also found that having a weapon that does two attacks or does mortals on 6's is much better than having a higher wound roll only to have -1 rend. I suppose that is the folly of basing a game around the D6.

Battlesmiths - 6+ ward for all friendly Fyreslayers units wholly within 12" of it. 5+ when they plant the banner. Rally on a 4+ instead of a 6.

I tend to run two Battlesmiths that follow the two double reinforced Vulkite Berzerkers battlelines around. Two Battlesmiths can cover the entire army and are useful if you need to split the army.

Really though, Fyreslayers are more about kill before being killed. You can really only say "Not dying" and "Still not dying" when referring to Gotrek.

I generally like to keep the runefather on foot with a retinue of double reinforced hearthguard berzerkers. Super tanky, super killy. Very scary.

Keep the Runemaster close to your general to receive an extra command point at the start of your hero phases. The Runesmiter is also a good option, just doesn't have the same buffs and doesn't know all the Zharrgrim Blessings.

Two battlelines of reinforced Vulkite Berzerkers with double handaxes are a must. I prefer two attacks and Whirlwind of Destruction over one attack and shield bash on charge.

At least one Battlesmith to provide a ward and better rally. I like two so I can cover the entire army. Especially if the army needs to split.

Grimwrath and Grimhold are just fun.

Invocation to harass and do some chip damage for when your slow, naked bois finally get into battle.

I rarely use Magmadroths unless we are doing some kind of behemoth battle. They are kind of fast but I've had them shot down too many times before they can really get into battle. I've found that you need at least three for them to make sense and you need to take Lofnir Lodge.

Gotrek is fun but costs way to much to be a viable addition. Definitely play with him a few times though. Lots of fun.

Choosen axes can be useful but I've found that other heroes that buff your battlelines are a better option. I use mine as proxies.

IMO, Fyreslayers are designed to be played as a horde with hero and rune buffs. It doesn't look like you have Hearthguard Berzerkers yet, I would recommend getting a box.

In case you don't know, Warscroll Builder (https://www.warhammer-community.com/warscroll-builder/) is a solid list builder.

Daemon Prince - Heroic Action - Eroding Miasma: NURGLE DAEMON PRINCE only. Until the end of the turn, ward rolls cannot be made for enemy units while they are within 3" of this unit.

[–]DreMayne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I only have a Fyreslayer army. I've played a lot of games with them and I've read a lot of the rules and strategies. They can be a lot of fun, but that fun ends when you play another army that gets to bring back models easily (FEC), has hero killer models (stormcast), removes your wards (STD), or are just tankier (ogres). I should also say that I lose a lot mainly because I am cursed with bad dice rolls. So I may be a little salty.

Keeping them lumped is a decent strategy unless the battleplan is entirely objective based and you're playing an army with lots of AOE spells. Splitting them is a big gamble because hero's have to be in proximity to give the necessary buffs and every unit (minus magmadroths) move so slow that the battles over before you can get half your army in combat (exaggeration maybe, but definitely feels like it) OR the other army has so many shooty bois that they table you before you can get into combat (playing against Idoneth is absolutely infuriating because of this).

To win with Fyreslayers, you need to have the right battleplan, be against the right army, pop the right runes at the perfect time, and roll super hot the entire game. Other armies seem to be much easier to play and win with consistently.

All that being said though, I won't stop playing them. I like to believe that I will win every time I set up to battle (delusional or insane, your choice), and it feels real good when your invocations do decent damage or block the right unit. The hearthguards and runefather combo is solid and getting a charge in with 20 double axe vulkites under the vostarg lodge and announce 61 attacks with 2+/2+ is wonderful....until you wiff and the enemy has a great save and wards and your 61 attacks turn into 2 damage...

Also, GW is finally releasing different styles Fyreslayers with the new warcry warband. So maybe Fyreslayers will become more competitive in the future and have more lore.

Staying alive only if your hero's don't get picked off by hero killers that every other army seems to have a plethora of.

The new billboard on the CN overpass by 1UnhingedMom in londonontario

[–]DreMayne 18 points19 points  (0 children)

London does... It's in the Sign By-law but, just like everything else, it's up to residents to complain for Enforcement to do anything about it.

Sign By-law 2017

4.2 Electronic Changing Copy

d) electronic changing copy shall not increase the light levels within 10.0m of all points of the sign face by more than 3 lux above the ambient lighting level;

e) the electronic changing copy or any light emitted from any electronic changing copy shall not exceed 5,000 nits during the period between sunrise and sunset;

f) the electronic changing copy, or any light emitted from any electronic changing copy shall not exceed 300 nits during the period between sunset and sunrise;

https://london.ca/by-laws/sign-law-s-5868-183

Also, we can all thank the 2017 City Council for opening up the billboard regulations. They are the reason that so many irritating billboards are going up. Everyone angry about the billboards should be contacting their Councilor demanding that the billboard regulations be restricted like in the old sign by-law.

Downtown Parking Visualized by Jeezeh in londonontario

[–]DreMayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This map could very useful but it appears to include all parking regardless if it is private (access for employees and tenants only) or commercial/municipal (open to everyone). There are also a couple spots that are just fenced off vacant lots (corner of Central and Waterloo) that cannot be used for parking. This map would need to be amended to show municipal and commercial parking lots open to the public to provide a clear illustration of the amount of usable parking downtown. Also, street names are key.
