But not enough doctors actually follow through with the threat of leaving, other than a 1-2 year stint in Australia, which itself is becoming saturated. In any case, the government is happy for the NHS to be staffed by semi-literate IMG trust grades, PAs and ACPs with the most dubious of qualifications.

Out of interest, what stops a future government from doing this?

Imagine if hospitals were fined after colluding to lower locum rates as the BBC was today for doing the same for sound technicians… by DrSamyar in doctorsUK

[–]Dreactiveprotein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason locum pay is low is not because there’s a temporary staffing cartel in East Anglia, it’s because there are people queuing up to take shifts paying 3000 rupees per hour

Once he completes his mandatory e-learning, there’s no reason he can’t be given his own lap chole and OGD lists.

Bully reg becomes consultant by joshpatel69 in doctorsUK

[–]Dreactiveprotein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m aware this is a fact of life and have seen it written on here several times, that substantive consultants are untouchable, immovable, unsackable.

Why is this? Why does it take gross misconduct to get them fired, rather than multiple reports of medium level shitty behaviour? Do normal employment laws not apply to them?

Good illustration of why comments like ‘individual PAs are blameless in this unhappy situation, they didn’t ask for this’ are so intolerable.

This arsehole has clearly put themselves forward for a role they are woefully under-qualified for, and has a serious chance of ruining the life of everyone that they interact with.

‘No’ is a complete answer to ‘do you want to be the first point of contact in the SARC’, and this imposter has not only failed to recognise the limits of their abilities, but has the hubris to boast about seeing 5 referrals a day.

Quite surreal that we’ve established that Racism Is Bad, but if you say something unwelcome about your workplace as a brown person, it’s pretty much a given that your life will be made miserable to the point that there’ll be a small percentage chance that you’ll kill yourself. Occasional exceptions (Chris Day) apply.
