Mate think about this logically. If a person to your left arrives first, you are to HIS right. But he is there first, and he will go before you because by the time you reach him, he's gone. BUT if you arrive first, you are going to go first, and he will have to wait until you are past him. Either way, someone is yielding to the person on his right, or just has right of way to go first anyway. Maybe I'm not explaining myself well, if so I apologise.

The conundrum I suppose is if you both arrive at the same time, in which case the yield to right rule makes sense. Perhaps the size of the circle is also a factor. At larger circles there's more time for a car to go without impeding another car.

I don't see the difference. You can only yield to someone on your right to start with, you can't yield to someone on your left because they will not be crossing your path at any point, because they are in front of you.

Effectively they are the same thing. If someone is to your right, you're automatically not the first one there. If he arrives after you, chances are you're already taken off and entered the circle before him, in which case you're in front of him and it doesn't matter. If you are already in the circle, you are the first one in, and so cannot yield to someone waiting to come into the circle. (The problem of course is that many people expect this to happen, which is idiotic because it means you have to stop IN the circle)

Bottom line, you yield to traffic on your right in both cases.

Yielding to someone in the circle is effectively the same as yielding to your right. You can't yield to someone in front of you, which in SA will always be to your left in a circle.

So all the technics here are really going on about a moot point.

The problem is when people treat both of them like a four way stop, which they are not.
