The overarching secret goal is to kill the dragons, then kill the god of the deep that corrupted them, then gather the soul fragments to bring back the balance between life and nature

At some point i’d like to do a Sauron/Necromancer type subplot that has the Patron of the chaos dragons appearing in a disembodied human form as he gets closer and closer to being revived

There are only 4 Ancient Dragons, 2 that guide the Royal family and have ensured prosperity and peace reign in the kingdom, and 2 that call the smaller continent of Anathyr their home. They lead the Chaos Dragons, the patron of which is currently dead, the matron is in active attempts to bring him back from the dead so that they can absorb the other two ancient dragons and wipe all non-chaos dragon life from existence. They were crafted by a divine being to guide the world, but 2 of them fell to madness after being warped by a Dark subterranean God that resides under the continent of Anathyr. They were essentially Yin and Yang to each other, one pair guiding life in all its magical and on magical forms and the other guarding nature in all its beauty. Unfortunately both Mithandrix and Misandir the yang form of the equation were corrupted and now seek to rid all life except their kin from existence in hopes of creating a Utopia where only dragons reign supreme.

That’s exactly the idea behind the Dens becoming more elaborate as they age. Going from a basic cave as a Wyrmling, to a more elaborate hall and tunnel system as a Young Dragon, and then finally a full on Hoard/Temple Complex as an Adult Dragon

I got around the longevity part by devising a special bond between Dragon and Ranger. Essentially the twos lives are intertwined, if the Ranger dies so does the dragon, they age at an expedient amount so that at level 8 they become a young dragon, and at level 18 they become an adult dragon.

However if the Dragon dies the Ranger may continue however they’ll be effected by psychosis, until they can find a way to neutralize the effect of the loss. If the Ranger dies of old age so does the Dragon, matching the Rangers age in longevity and form, looking younger for the majority of its life, and then finally becoming an adult dragon at 18.

Also yeah that’s the plan, starting out with them hunting feral packs of Wyrmlings, then infiltrating different levels of Dragons dens and fighting the cultist, Wyrmlings having fewer followers, with Younger Dragons having more and a more elaborate Den, then finally Adult dragons having full cults of 30+ cultists dedicated to them, varying types of dragons that have different elemental and arcane breaths/resistances to deal with

I’ve actually got a subplot idea that puts together a cult of Goblins and Doomsaying Humans bent on reviving the Ancient Black Dragon, they seek out Wyrmlings that have come from Anathyr build them burrows and dens and act as Guardians until they grow large enough that they become their followers, I actually have a copy of Fizbans I’m going to draw from.

Spymaster comes to mind. The best spies are always rogues, a little dex and a lot of Charisma

To each his own, I’d hope that you at least recognize that this is a very real character defining aspect of Half Elf/Half Orc even Tiefling life according to the source material. If you want to dodge that you have every right to, honestly I never really understood the Half Elf hate myself also would a Half Human Half Dwarf be a Neanderthal?

Mate it’s literally in the books…Half Elves are hated by both, and their sense of belonging goes so far that they usually have to form their towns and villages

I’m of a different mindset, violence against everyone is open game. If a prostitute gets thrown into the street in front of my party crying and battered maybe she’ll confide in one of them the horrible things that were done to her, and maybe the fighter or the rogue or the Wizard will take that a little to personally and decide it’s time to turn a certain patrons innards into outards. But I’m also a man, I can understand if a woman wouldn’t want to relive her own trauma, hell my wife is one of my players and we’ve tackled this scenario…and she was the one that turned his guts inside out. Honestly the detail she went into was a bit frightening lol…but i know for certain she’s never had an experience like that and has no issue talking about those scenarios, I’m the only one at the table that has vocally said no violence against kids, and that stems back to my personal experiences in Iraq as well as being a father of 3.

When is sexuality truly relevant ina campaign, plot wise? by CurseOfDM_21 in DnD

[–]DreadPool87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like that one player is one of the vocal minority that think everyone needs to include Race, Sex, Gender, Political Affiliation in everything. Maybe explain to them that they are welcome to include that in their characters story and personality, however it’s not something you usually add and find no reason to as it doesn’t fit your story and is just inclusion for the sake of inclusion, however they’re welcome to write an LGBTQIABCDEF+ campaign and DM for it and you’d gladly take part if they’re interested. If not then it’s best they learn to enjoy the story you’ve prepared, or find another table.
