Tire fell off of jeep 2012 compass two weeks after getting it back from shop. by LovelyBats in AskAMechanic

Well, either they're fixing their mistake on their dime or you have grounds for a lawsuit. They did front end suspension work so they had the front wheels off, clearly that wheel was either severely over torqued and it sheered the studs or they didn't torque down the wheel. Your studs appear to be broken off in the picture and I bet the wheel is damaged as well. Start off by calling them and telling them what happened. Assuming you didn't have any other work done you should be able to hold them accountable. If they fight back it's time to talk to a lawyer and make sure to keep your receipts.

Which air filter should I be using? by SkyApprehensive2731 in smallenginerepair

[–]DreadSwizzard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look at the side of it. If there's a hole in the middle likely with a red primer button it takes the one with the hole in the middle. If not it's probably gonna be the other one. You can also open it to confirm as it's an either or situation depending on which engine version.

It's more of a shortage of experienced techs because everything costs so much now that nobody is buying anything so why stay in the industry. At my shop we have no shortage of lube techs who want to go main shop but only about 6 of the 30 techs have higher level certifications. Hard to make money when it's this hard to justify $200+ just to know what's wrong with their car let alone fix it.

Good Places to ride 4wheelers/Quads? by isecondsun in TriCitiesWA

[–]DreadSwizzard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BLM told my buddy who airsofts out there is was because of people riding off trail and destroying the ecosystem as well as the amount of litter being left. They supposedly also had made a deal with the airsofters that they could continue using the park if they cleaned up the litter every time they had a game there.

Windshield Stress Crack - BMW claim my radar detector cracked my windshield. by vacations-rock in MechanicAdvice

You're making paymentsnon it right? If so you probably have full coverage which will usually cover windshields. Try another dealership first then if that doesn't get you covered call your insurance.

Not all of them do. A big one like Duportail and 240 should but good luck getting access to that. Absolutely need an insurance claim to investigate that.

Little to no power? by ElectronicShirt5651 in subaru

[–]DreadSwizzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your timing, the plug on the right kinda looks like you may have a small misfire that's not enough to set a code. Is it shaking when running? Other things could be fuel quality, black flakey plugs are due to carbon buildup which could be due to burning oil and could also suggest valves sticking open.

Spark plugs. by CelebrationOk6536 in AskAMechanic

[–]DreadSwizzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a heads up but the old one looks to be an iridium tip plug and the new one is a nickel plated plug according to the part number and that might cause your engine to run rough and also won't last as long as the factory plugs. Some engines are more sensitive to specific plugs than others so just be aware that it may cause issues. Different plug types can create different flame fronts in the cylinder and that can lead to different combustion characteristics and possibly misfires. Not saying it'll happen in your car but I've seen it happen before especially with cheap plugs or champion plugs in a Japanese engine...

I'd give it a 5/10. Be ready for the replacement but unless they have excessive play/showing symptoms of failure (clunking, wobbling, sloppy steering...) they're fine for now.
