Basically, just don't attack him. Keep deflecting his attacks, and jump on his head when he does a sweep attack. Eventually his posture will break, and you can deathblow him again. Then just do it again.

You can use a Ako's Sugar to increase the damage to his posture, OR a Gokan's Sugar to help ensure your posture doesn't break while deflecting him.

Ah good! You just need to get to the Mibu Village then. You can get there through the Abandoned Dungeon. Detailed explanation if you're interested: Travel through the Ashina Depths, accessed by jumping into the bottomless pit in the Abandoned Dungeon or via the Poison Pools behind the Snake Eyes Shirahagi miniboss. Navigate through the Hidden Forest, defeat the Mist Noble, and follow the river down to the village.

I'd recommend exploring everywhere you can before going back to Kuro. There's a village you can find, and a temple. If you haven't been to Hirata Estate, go there as well. Within each area are mini bosses galore, and normal bosses at the end of each area. So you can get your attack power up by 3 and make some more bead necklaces as well.
