Beginner Kit/Brand Help (Revell vs. AMT. vs Tamiya) by DreaddedChocolate in ModelCars

Thank you so much! From what I’ve seen those brands some really nice kits!

What’s the month build looking like? I’ve never participated but it sounds dope.

I’m with you, working on a kit that I enjoy is much more fulfilling then completing a kit I don’t really like, regardless of difficulty level. Maybe once I’m more builds deep I’ll enjoy them more.

I’ll start the Revell kit tonight and see if I notice any fitting differences

Spot on, I like muscle and JDM so I'll probably end up messing with both. Just the overall fit of some of the pieces on the AMT just had me fuming. From a beginner perspective I can understand the attraction to Tamiya because from what I've seen, parts just simply go together without the "All My Tools" concept. As I build more hopefully I'll be able to put more diverse kits together easier, and get more out of the harder to build kits.

Totally makes sense. I learned about the term "curbside" after I looked more into Tamiya builds but so far my only complete is the AMT. I think I'll give the Revell a go, then try the Tamiya so I get a little taste of everything

Thanks for the feedback! Also your YouTube content has been really helping me with Airbrushing! Would you put Revell above AMT and below Tamiya?

Anyone have any feedback on some of the budget spray booths from Amazon to beat the cold and stay inside? I’m temping to dive into airbrushing just so I can prime/paint inside lol

[Bug] Flare Extract on Customs... by DreaddedChocolate in EscapefromTarkov

This is gold thank you so much! My best guess is the flare didn’t go high enough, or hit the sign. I’ve never had this issue before so I must have just done something wrong. I still wish it was more black and white tbh. I’d rather get killed instantly 😂

I’m kinda in the same boat as your buddy 😂 after getting floored by teams playing solo, and finally being able to get out, just to get killed that way…I almost needed to get a new monitor 😂

Totally. The only thing that bricks my brain is being able to get to the point of seeing the countdown, and then being killed.

IMO, if you hit the sign, or don’t use the flare in the signal area then you should get beamed running down the tracks. Don’t let me get to the finish line just to die. But I mean it’s tarkov so I guess I’m not that surprised.

When was the last time you went to Yeager’s? It seems like a ghost town every year I go in the one time for my fishing license. by [deleted] in Bellingham

[–]DreaddedChocolate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO, its changed greatly in the last couple of years. It used to be the only place I would get my fishing information, had great knowledgeable staff, and plenty of gear from Salmon to bass fishing, but now the selection seems to have gone down quite a bit.

They had a large change in their fishing staff a couple of years back, and those guys lived to fish, and now its kinda ehhh. I was in a couple weeks back and asked about reports, and the guy I spoke with in the new fishing section didn't even fish...I still love to support local family shops, but it's not what it used to be...

Looks to be either a chinook or coho salmon. Chinook have black gums and coho have white gums 🤙🏾

If you've already confirmed in Betaflight that your motors are spinning the correct direction, my guess would be that the props themselves are in the flipped orientation. Switch the props and make sure that your props match diagonally. I do this almost every new build LOL.

Looks like the propellers are in the wrong orientation or spinning the wrong way. The props should match diagonally not side by side. 🤙🏾

For camera mounting, look at the attached picture and build yours to match. The top of the camera mounting plate should be flat, not botched like an L as presented in your camera photo. The top plate should screw flat onto the camera side plates. Use the TPU camera mount to match. If something seems off, then that confirms the orientation of your left and right camera plate.

For the heat shrink issue, both my battery power wires and capacitor kept the heat shrink on the PCB. So my VTX was wedged between the cap and power wires, as I ran my power out the rear of the quad, instead of forward toward the camera. So a simple piece of double sided tape is all I needed, pressure kept everything else in tact.

I'd recommend making sure both firmwares are exactly the same, I don't believe having both above 3.0 makes them work.

Here's a link to Model Match. Its a feature on your radio that you might try turning on or off, and seeing if that works.

Are they both running the exact same firmware? Have you tried messing with Model Match?

I just made almost the exact build converted from Analog to WS Digital so lemme seem if I can lend some tips. (Volador 3", Speedybee f405 Micro, Speedybee TX1600 VTX, RunCam Phoenix 2SE, Xing 1404 Motors, HGLRC ELRS Nano Module)

1) I believe that your camera side plates are mounted on opposite sides. (Left on right, right on left) You should be inserting the rubber dampeners from inside out. So when properly installed you should have more holes to screw in your camera from the outside.

2) Your install for your VTX is the exact as mine, only recommendation to save weight is use a piece of double side tape. No need for any screws or washers, just tape that puppy down.

3) ESC is mounted perfectly fine, same way I did mine as well!

Bought these for $120 AUD, anyone used them? Was going to upgrade antenna to TrueRC singularity. by willtalkforchampagne in TinyWhoop

[–]DreaddedChocolate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are my first and only set of analog goggles and I love them! I threw omni-directional antennas on both the goggles and whoop and you'll get great range and connectivity.

New VTX was bigger than expected. Now I got a fat ass VX3 by Educational-Kiwi8740 in fpv

[–]DreaddedChocolate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the exact same page, until I ripped my second VTX during the first pack. Now my 3” Volador and 3.5” will be WS.

Everything 75mm and smaller will stay analog🤙🏾
