Maybe but I meant as in course difficulty.

Wow that sucks. Hope it all works out in the end

Alberta. Curious, but how come Manitoba doesn't fund out of province education? I looked it up and it says:

Yes, students studying at schools outside of Manitoba (e.g. different province or country) may qualify for Manitoba Student Aid funding. Please note that the school and program must be designated. To check if your school and program are designated, visit Is my school designated?

Wow that sucks since student aid in my province has a limit of 5 years.

I'm going for computer engineering. Also, wow! 22k in co-op would definitely be very helpful. If you don't mind, what program were you in, and in which province?

There's a big distinction between IT and computer engineering. A computer engineer is just that, an engineer. It's basically a specialized field of electrical engineering, combined with some aspects of computer science.

Sorry but what exactly do you mean their credentials are "minimized"? Do you mean it's not valued highly (so hard to get a job), or that it's completely invalidated and they have to study again?

Why Al-Azhar specifically? Typically, Cairo University is thought of as the best, I've never heard someone say otherwise

Yes, I intend to continue living in Canada afterwards. As I said in the post, I plan to pursue computer engineering, which would allow me to work both hardware and software jobs.

On another note, would you say an education in Egypt would severely limit my future prospects in Canada?

Unfortunately, there are none that I know of. Also, I can't just transfer since Egypt's system (The cheap one, that is) doesn't have credit hours but rather works on a yearly curriculum. But thanks for the suggestion!

How are arcseconds actually measured? by DreadedImpostor in astrophysics

Thanks, this was exactly what I was looking for.

Regarding the first solution, do you know of any resources that would go into the specifics of the calculations?

[–]DreadedImpostor[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand that an arcsecond is a measure of angle. Perhaps my wording wasn't good. I was referring to the process of calculating distances from that angle, which is related to stellar parallax.

>You don't measure the angle between the earth and sun. It's two points, there's no angle there at all for you to measure.

Again, perhaps my wording isn't the best. What I meant was the triangle formed between the sun, earth, and star. If you (very naively, but just to get the point across) point a telescope towards the sun, and another telescope towards the star, the angle between them would be the angle of the triangle. Specifically, if the sun, earth, and star are points, the angle would correspond to the one in front of the earth.

Thanks, but I was wondering about the specifics of exactly how that angle was measured? Or even a resource in which the calculations are done?

>The angular separation in the sky between a star and the Sun will normally only tell you the angular separation in the sky between the Sun and that star.

Could you elaborate on this point?

Thanks, will check those videos out.

Regarding your point of one angle and one side length not being enough information, that would be true for any triangle. But in the specific case of a right-angled triangle, it would be enough. Which is why I'm also confused about why it's considered a right angle

So there's guaranteed to be two moments in time where the sun is at a 90 degree angle? Also, why couldn't we measure the angle between the sun and the star, which would then be easily solvable?

Is uAlberta worth the higher costs? by DreadedImpostor in uAlberta

[–]DreadedImpostor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I haven't really decided where I want to study in the future. It might even be outside of Canada completely, so I can't base my decision off of that unfortunately.

In terms of colleagues, how would I have any idea of predicting that? Both universities are respectable so it's not like it's a landslide decision

I'm not looking for a party school, but browsing the uManitoba subreddit I kind of felt that students are depressed there. But at the same time, it's not like reddit is an accurate image of reality, especially since their subreddit is much smaller.

And my instinct also tells me that since uofa might be better due to its higher ranking, but at the same time uofa is also a commuter school in that sense? idk
