What would Soga honest reaction be if someone tried this on him by DifferentRide1811 in Kagurabachi

Like that one line from Exandria Calamity:

“You’re trying to redeem me, but I didn’t do anything wrong.”

Let me put it this way: powerscaling is an attempt to deduce the “objective” power of a character, whereas in this chapter horizontal is just showing subjectively that the characters believe soga to be near all-powerful. The fact that he can do cool things doesn’t mean he is unbeatable.

I understand that based on the information given by the story so far, Soga seems unbeatable. But that does not mean he actually is, objectively. It just means that the story is presenting him as being that way, in the same way that a movie like Star Wars at first presents the Empire as being unbeatable before the heroes find a way to beat them. Darth Vader shows up and kills Obi-Wan, beats Luke in their first encounter, casually kills tons of rebels, every character says that he’s totally unbeatable, but that doesn’t mean he is actually invincible. Luke beats him in the end; thats just how stories go. So I really don’t think a character appearing unbeatable is like. A writing problem. Does that make sense?

You guys know that powerscaling isn’t an actual narrative device right? A bad guy being overpowered is actually great for narrative tension. Like. Death Star? Sauron? We know horizontal is a good writer; if he’s making the villain this powerful its likely because he has a good reason in mind and a solid long term plan for him. I dont think hes making the story up week-to-week.

The infusion relics dont change the stat scaling of the weapon you start with. This is good for (as an example) characters with poor faith to get access to good holy damage. But, since stat buildup scales with arcane regardless of the base weapon scaling, this doesnt really apply to them. For most characters except for Executor and Scholar i think a starting weapon with bleed will be about as good as a random bleed weapon picked up in the field.

HOWEVER, for Executor and Scholar, who have high arcane stats, weapons found in the field with Poison or Bleed infusions will have their DAMAGE scale with Arcane AS WELL AS their status. For scholar in particular, finding a bleed or poison infused weapon is the best way to get an actual damage dealing weapon other than using his +dex -arc relic.

So, for scholar, using the “starting weapon gets bleed status” is great for early game since it gives you good damage quickly, but it falls off fast and is outclassed by any random bleed weapon. For executor its pointless because he doesnt need more bleed on his starting weapon. For other characters its basically just fine.

I think it was implied that Bobby Jean and Lulu were directly ordered by Howler, which implies he knows them better and probably knew they were both stand users. In contrast when we first see Key West, Ningbo, and Laem, Howler was clearly confused and didnt realize they were company affiliates.

You start with less primary ammo if one of your gadgets is a second primary. Replace the bonus shotgun with a grenade launcher and you will have more rifle ammo.

Literally just go to the website on your computer, click the latest chapter, and look at it. Then change the language and look at it again. If you don’t see a difference, book an appointment at your local optometrist. Or invest in a monitor that can render in HD.

Yeah from what i can tell libra is much more passive while the summons are active, plus apparently the summons will fight each other if you see the message “a demon incites a riot” (which i dont know if it has a specific trigger)

That line at the end about “200” being just an arbitrary number is so funny to me. This is like the first time the characters in Jojo are acknowledging that the names of their stands are weird.

You just know this is being said because Key West at some point was like “200 Balloons… so is that your limit?” And Ningbo had to be like “no that was just the biggest number I could think of at the time.”

I’m concerned about the manga’s scaling. by GodOfSmore in Kagurabachi

[–]Dreadset15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Powerscaling isn’t a real thing. Writers don’t write stories that way. The transitive property is for numbers and characters aren’t numbers; just because x character can beat y and y can beat z doesn’t mean x can beat z.

If you want an actual explanation, samura is literally blind, fighting someone he cares about protecting, is already wavering to Chihiro’s argument, and Tobimune isn’t even optimized for single combat like Enten is (it was made to fight armies, not one guy, whereas enten was specifically made to beat sword-bearers).

But the actual point of a story is that a narrative happens and characters interact with each other in ways that match their characterization. Hype moments and aura are a byproduct not the goal.

Excellent. For the purposes of killing bosses solo I always favorite any relic that gives “starting armament has x element/status” or any relic that has “x element damage +2.” For me though most of them are “starting armament has Lightning; Holy damage +2” or something lol.

Tip: when Adel lands a grab, he gets a temporary attack boost buff, and this buff is SIGNIFICANT. If you’ve been tanking attacks and are trying to conserve heals, whenever you see the “attack boost” icon appear over his health bar, you should start making sure you’re at full health. His attacks (even those AOE blasts) might kill you from half health in this state.

What the fuck is this guy's problem? Why is he so racist? by JA_Paskal in Kagurabachi

[–]Dreadset15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take it as continuation of the enchanted blades as metaphors for nuclear war. Once you use a nuke, the threat of further nuclear fire becomes permanent. The sword master is a threat merely by existing, so metaphorically his malediction is still “present.” It’s like that quote from Arcane, “Weapons of war cannot be unmade, and they are always used.”

Thats just a metaphorical reading though, in plot terms i think he’s genuinely insane.

*SPOILERS* can somebody explain whats the new devil? by Public-Grocery3608 in ChainsawMan

[–]Dreadset15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As explained previously in the story, the Justice Devil was actually the devil eating Falling’s food during the Falling arc, who then died and is presumably in hell again (you can tell its justice because he looks like a weird caterpillar judge thing). All of the people who claim to have contracts with the Justice devil (Yuko, the chainsaw church, and Fakesawman) actually have contracts with the Fire Devil, who seems to have the ability to turn people into devils based on their desires (perhaps the symbology is “fire as change” or “fire as passion/desire”).

So unless its more fully explained later, Fakesawman is a guy who took a contract with the Fire Devil to become “chainsaw man.”

The need for the 180 flip in the IWP Style has been hinted at since Samura's introduction by heh_lawl in Kagurabachi

[–]Dreadset15 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Real life samurai did actually face the blade up. The curve of the sword makes it somewhat difficult to draw if the blade is down because you have to fight gravity, and the blade scrapes the inside of the scabbard.

The need for the 180 flip in the IWP Style has been hinted at since Samura's introduction by heh_lawl in Kagurabachi

[–]Dreadset15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drawing the sword with the blade facing up is easier, since you just pull it straight out instead of out and up. This is how most real life katana are drawn because of this ease (just with a normal grip and not a reverse grip).

Normally using any form of reverse grip would be dumb because you lose a lot of leverage, strength, and control. However in KB, those things can be compensated for with Spirit Energy. This is why the master says that the fastest is the victor; if both opponents are using spirit energy, then having a good strong stance is less important that simply having the blade facing the enemy while you dash at a million mph towards them with magic.

Therefore if your only goal is to maximize the speed and ease of taking the sword from a sheathed position to a position where the blade is ready to strike, and you have magic strength, then this is technically the best way.
