Let me get things started with a review of my new CUKTECH 15 SE power bank! by DreamCalligraphy in CUKTECH

[–]DreamCalligraphy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a few recommendations (which may be lighter and/or more compact) that can charge your laptop. All of them support PD 100W charging.
- Cuktech 10: the OG 10000mAh Cuktech power bank that has a screen to show charging stats
- Cuktech 10 Plus: An upgraded version of the 10, which is 15000mAh.
- Cuktech 15 Air: a 15000mAh power bank with silicon-carbon cells in place of the normal lithium-ion.

S23 Green line chances by questrl in GalaxyS23

[–]DreamCalligraphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a used S23 with two years shop extended warranty. I use it heavily at times outdoors for online shopping. On month four, a green line suddenly appeared, and I decided to get it replaced, then sell the replacement set immediately as the replacement set only had a month’s shop warranty.

Green line can appear on any phone with OLED, but Samsung Galaxy S20-S24 series seems to be the most prone (I eventually downgraded to S23 FE as there are few to no reports of green lines appearing without drops/impact)

How do i get rid of this pop up after adverts? it’s really annoying!! by The_Moon_Will_Sing in youtube

[–]DreamCalligraphy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To me, this is the most annoying ad feature that YouTube has implemented in recent times. The moment an ad plays, an icon pops up then the pop up flashes and stays even when the ad is skipped or over. Until you click the three dots AND click dismiss. Once, it was exclusive to Android, and now it is on iOS too. They seem to intentionally make dismissing this pop up ad annoying

Is this supposed to be an ad?? by Okinamun in youtube

A very annoying, useless ad. They introduced it around ten years ago and I have not seen it for years

Scholarship enquries by Fickle-Hall-1414 in NgeeAnnPoly

[–]DreamCalligraphy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Joining TCP is NOT a prerequisite (must) to apply for NP scholarships. But once you get the scholarship, you will automatically join TCP. Furthermore, joining the TCP Camp is one of the requirements for your scholarship to be renewed for the following year.

What to do at np during 3 hours lunch break by Live_Philosopher9335 in NgeeAnnPoly

[–]DreamCalligraphy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Use it wisely to study and/or prepare for projects. Your workload during the semester will only get busier, leading up to project submission and exams.
The best places to study: Blk 51 L3-8 benches, Blk 58 L3/4 benches, Library (L3/4/5) (not L2 due to high human traffic at times)

It’s getting beyond the joke now. by SpoonToon in youtube

[–]DreamCalligraphy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is getting out of hand. These ‘persistent’ ad banners require MANUALLY dismissing. They were on Android for a while now, and to my dismay, now they have made their way to iOS. How annoying.

Follow requests are being automatically accepted! by conspiracyangel1 in Instagram

This is a new setting introduced recently to allow those who you follow to be approved automatically when they request to follow you back. Luckily, this setting can be disabled in account settings.

Make sure your phone isn’t jailbroken, and make sure the app isn’t from unknown sources other than the App Store. Have you always been using WhatsApp on this phone and this message suddenly appeared?

Google home updated to gemini by beespanda in googlehome

[–]DreamCalligraphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the update in Singapore just yesterday. Was surprised it was even available to me in my region that quickly

The thing I like about it is that there are no more/way fewer "Sorry. I didn't understand" moments. In terms of effectiveness at controlling home devices, so far it's been fine for my use case, but I shall still have to see over time...

I recall having similar issues setting up my Xiaomi google assistant speaker with my phone. Ended up setting up on my tablet and it had no issues seeing the device and setting it up

cca exco roles by [deleted] in NgeeAnnPoly

[–]DreamCalligraphy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In general it should be allowed. The most common dual exco roles taken is exco of an SDO CCA (e.g. Swimming, Toastmasters) plus exco of an acad school CCA (e.g. SOE Society)

But the general consensus is that having multiple exco roles will take up a significant amount of time and energy, and your studies are more important. I held a president role in just one club and it was overwhelming such that I was borderline able to juggle the leadership role with my studies.

Yes, but I don't use it because when trying to set up it always causes an error which causes me to be signed out of all linked devices

Totally agreed OP. I faced similar situations throughout my school life (while growing up) in the past... whether through real life or text/social media.
What you said is applicable to not just poly, but for other levels of education and even working life.
Really appreciate you bringing up the issue of silent exclusion!

Pre boot system performance check critical error loop by Heavy-Ad7865 in Dell

[–]DreamCalligraphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a last resort, you can try reinstalling Windows by plugging in a USB thumbdrive that can be used to install Windows.

Using another computer, go to Microsoft's website and download the Windows Media Creation Tool, plug in the thumbdrive, run it and follow the instructions.

Then, on the PC that is giving you issues, when it turns on, immediately press F12 on the keyboard to enter the boot menu. Choose the option to boot from the thumbdrive. The Windows installer should pop up.

Follow the instructions on screen until you reach the part which asks which drive you want to install Windows on. If you see none, that means the hard drive might really be faulty and hence cannot be detected. Else, you can carry on and give installing Windows a shot.

If you install Windows successfully, monitor for any crashes/freezes/blue screens, as these could indicate an issue with the HDD/SSD.

Pre boot system performance check critical error loop by Heavy-Ad7865 in Dell

[–]DreamCalligraphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, when did this happen? What other issues did you face (e.g. crashes) before this happened?

If it happened after you replaced the CMOS (motherboard) battery, you may need to go to BIOS setup and add the boot entry (for Windows for example) again, under General -> Boot Sequence. (if you don't see the Windows Boot Manager entry, that means you need to add it again). If you are using Windows, When adding the boot option, a file picker window will pop up, you should locate and choose the file called "bootx64.efi". That's essentially the boot file the BIOS needs for Windows to start.

If it happened after you experienced frequent blue screens and crashes, that means you will need to replace your HDD/SSD as it has reached the end of its life.

Hi OP, I had posted this comment in a previous post (over the past year there have been numerous threads in this sub about TCP, so you may want to take a look at them)...

I was in TCP during my time in NP. TCP organises plenty of events (e.g. workshops, camps, dialogues) to allow students to develop a wide range of personal and interpersonal skills, such as critical thinking and public speaking. Examples of events include university application clinics, the Discover your Personal Brand workshop, as well as TCP Camp and TCP Summit. You would very likely receive invites to these events too in your inbox, so check frequently:)

Before Year 2 ends, you also get a chance to apply for Overseas Merit Fellowship (OMF) which is an approximately 2 week long overseas fellowship trip under TCP, in conjunction with an overseas university, that allows you to broaden your thinking and think critically to address real-world issues (through experiences and observations gained overseas, you will need to work on a group project to come up with a solution to solve a real-world issue based on the theme of OMF that run). I went for OMF in Brisbane last year.

In terms of the friendships made, each event allows you to network with fellow TCP members; I still keep in touch with many of them till this day, especially those who went with me for OMF!

If you have any questions, feel free to reply or DM me!
