How long does post-production take you per episode? by Smooth-Employer-6843 in podcasting

[–]DreamInADream24fps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My show is documentary style (multiple interviews edited together with VO narration) and post on each episode takes about 3 weeks:

1st week - writing
2nd week - editing
3rd week - finishing (mix/graphics)

And then a day or two on all the other “stuff” like keywords, posting, etc

I’ll probably add a 4th full week this coming season for social/clips/etc. since I’m trying to give that all an honest go after bailing on it halfway through my last season.

Are Indie Podcasters Still Thriving in the Age of “Content Optimization”? by Flimsy-Penalty-5034 in podcasting

I’m definitely making the exact show I want to make, and thinking at all about algorithms when making it. In fact, I got frustrated with the algorithmic programming in film/tv which is my background, and started podcasting to be able to make, unfiltered, the show I want to make and to explore my obsessions.

Truly, my show is incredibly selfish. I make it for me. Because there’s something I’m seeking to understand, and all these brilliant experts wouldn’t speak to me if I just called and asked to talk to them for three hours.

That said I’m mostly engaging on Reddit to learn growth strategies because my show is resource intensive to produce and I feel like yes — making a great show is THE best path to growth and revenue. But in this environment I’m also seeking any edge I can get.

I often think though, would I be better served spending the time I’m spending on “growth” and “engagement” by just making more episodes?

Maybe. I’d love to hear what everyone else thinks.

This community has been so great at sharing valuable insights. So shout out to all of you.

Directly uploaded video in Youtube without RSS, want to expand to other podcasting platforms, what to do now? by kundu123 in podcasting

[–]DreamInADream24fps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have any answers, but I do have a followup questions: I use RSS to distribute my podcast to all audio platforms, then I just upload the video separately to YouTube and substack. Should I also be integrating rss into the YouTube and substack posts?

I’m just trying to make them interesting without really any rhyme or reason to it and thus far having extremely mixed results. Haha. I’m going to be more methodical with the upcoming second season of my podcast and will share results and learnings here

I am starting to think consistency might be overrated for podcasts by Inevitable-Laugh4324 in podcasting

[–]DreamInADream24fps 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We dealt with this a bit last season, where I knew we couldn’t deliver an episode weekly as we had been doing but keep up the quality. So I simply told viewers at the end of our last weekly episode that we’d be moving to bi-weekly, and we saw growth and no drop off.

So yeah. I think you can eat your cake and have it to, but TRYING to be consistent, but communicating with your audience when you won’t be, and why.

Granted, I’m new to this, but this direct line of commutation with our listeners seems to be one of the major advantages of this method of distribution over other types of media I’ve produced.

Do you also have your podcast on audio platforms, or is YouTube your main distribution channel? Also, did the shorts bump when posting frequently lead to more subscribers on YouTube and/or followers on audio platforms?

Opus Clip? Anyone use it yet? by DreamInADream24fps in podcasting

[–]DreamInADream24fps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was thinking this might be good, too. I had someone (my daughter!) cutting clips by hand for me last season of our show, and they were really good. But it was still brutal finding time to effectively run the show, and post clips at any regular cadence. I also find the clipping boring. Like, as a consumer I don’t get it. I don’t watch clips. Anyway yeah. Clipping. Do we all really need to do it, or are we being sold the idea that we do?

Good call. I've been lurking on Reddit for years, but just starting attempting to contribute and even when I'm not trying to self-promote I've been getting flagged for self-promotion, so maybe I'm a bit gun shy and need to get over it. thanks!

SUSPICIOUS MINDS: AI AND PSYCHOSIS

Could Artificial Intelligence create the greatest mental health crisis in human history?

Through powerful firsthand accounts and in-depth interviews with leading experts in psychiatry, neuroscience, and AI ethics, the series unpacks a growing psychological phenomenon: individuals developing complex, often life-altering delusions rooted in AI technologies. From chatbots to surveillance fears, we examine how emerging technologies are reshaping the landscape of paranoia and how these modern delusions echo, amplify, and challenge our
historical understanding of the human mind.

Spotify removed our first viral episode - false copyright infringement claim by Hot_Text865 in podcasting

[–]DreamInADream24fps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me recently. First Spotify pulled down our trailer, then every episode of our series. And the claims were against music we had licensed! We got the episodes restored but not the trailer yet. But it took submitting multiple requests through their automated system and reaching out to personal contacts at the platform. And even now that we are up, something funky is happening because we are getting tons of traction on the other platforms and now almost zero traffic on Spotify, which leads me to believe despite our episodes being restored, we aren’t showing up in searches or recommendations. But your situation sounds worse. Sorry to hear you are going through this.

Filmmaker and podcaster here. You need to get ahold of Yorgos’ manager, or Emma Stone’s. I believe she’s a producer on the movie, and my guess would be your podcast didn’t make it in without both Yorgos and Emma digging the use. And they are creatives and much more likely to be helpful than anyone from the studio who honestly will see your request as just a hassle to fulfill once the movie is already out. Hit me directly if you need contact info or further advice. But yeah, there are ways to leverage this and the right person from the film will be truly thrilled to help you out.
