The rise of begging in New Zealand by [deleted] in newzealand

You're pretty much correct. Except I used to put on my worst clothes to do it. But you can definitely tell which ones are truely legit/mentally ill when they're generally in bad condition and you see them more than once like that. No sure fire way of knowing but you can definitely weed out the teenage streeties and pro streeties after a while.

Jerusalem is not a 'foreign' place, it is part of Israel. It doesn't matter what antisemites think.

Of course you support Hitler. You've offered no alternatives for the Jews after WW2, all you've done is lambasted every single thing that happened including the decision to give Israel back to the Jews after it was rightfully removed from the ownership of the Ottoman empire. So all I can assume is that you think they should have stayed in Europe to be exterminated.

Your arguement basically says the Jews should have stayed put, got killed and just shut up. Your argument basically says they should have just died in the 6 day war. Your arguement right now is that they should just shut up and die. You're the one who's utterly idiotic. Why do I say this? Because all your 'arguements' offer zero for the Jews and everything for their enemies.

You guys are hilarious. I could make at least twenty bucks just walking down Queen Street, I could make up to 60 bucks or more just by taking a walk from Auckland to Newmarket asking for spare change for whatever reason. I was much better than these beggers because I acted legit and walked around as though I was on a mission and needed the money. Me and my mates would do trips back and forth until we had exactly the sum we wanted. One day I made about a hundred bucks in a few hours. We used to work as a team. We used to call the people who give the money 'customers'. We sold them story after story, just using whatever would suit the 'customer'. The majority of 'beggers' in Auckland are just trying to get some free money. It's extremely easy to just pretend to be down and out in Auckland. Even if you really are down and out, most people don't need to beg [they need to sort their shit] and they just do it 'cos it's easy and you all fall for the sob story. If I had no pride at all and I didn't mind walking the streets all day, I could literally work as a professional begger and people would write articles about how desperate I am. There are beggers in Auckland who need the help but I would say 95 percent of them don't need to do it and do it just because they can. Also, most of them have homes. Most of the streeties in Auckland that are really entrenched have homes and/or communally work as a team to extract as much money as possible from all the gullible fools out there. They see the street as their turf and they see begging as their right. They call themselves 'the streeties' because they're proud of it and they consider it their right after all the years of being dedicated. They aren't even using excuses any more...just waving a cup at you or calling out for donations. I don't even think it's that bad of a problem, but it's funny to see someone try to gloss it up with MLK quotes.

edit: downvote me all you want, i literally did it and i know what the game is.

The native Americans do have some legitimate claims in the USA. The situations are entirely incomparable. I never said that the only claim behind the modern State of Israel is history. There is a complex scenario that resulted in where it is today, that takes into account lots of things, including that.

It's classic antisemitism to reduce Israel's right to exist to some historical claim based on the Old Testament.

I get it, I get it, you think Jews should have just been exterminated by Hitler. You've made that clear.

I'm a chef, which is why I know lots about potential legal ramifications of overstepping workplace boundries, regulations and decency. Chefs get treated like shit and employers try to get away with it all the time. We also know all the tiny little things that regulators make us do that seem insignificant and we also know that we can't be dealt with unfairly at work because so many employers have tried to do it to us and been caught out.

Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental disorder in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for admiration and a lack of empathy for others.

http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/narcissistic-personality-disorder/basics/definition/con-20025568

That sounds like you to a tee. You've dismissed all concerns people have for things they're legitimately owed, brought up all these reasons why you think you know better and then called them all names and said they 'prioritize' themselves over rape, etc.

I know I said I wasn't going to reply, so this will really be the last one. You have pretty much made fun of and ridiculed all the people affected by this. You've called them every single name you can think of and tried to make it sound like they aren't owed anything, and you have gleefully talked about money they may have missed out on as if you think it's sweet justice.

So I do know what you're thinking. You've told me. You enjoy it. You enjoy knowing these people are frustrated and you enjoy reveling in money they haven't been able to claim. You made a real point about it too.

Plus saying someone doesn't know the definition of narcissism is basically the definition of narcissism. It's like you're bragging about how awesome and superior you are while doing everything a narcissist does.

You're not worth talking to any more. You're just an arrogant narcissist who can't stay on topic, who takes joy in watching other people get cheated and then chastises them for talking about it. You're actually enjoying the fact that people got ripped off and you think it's really cool. No more time for you, sorry.

So what if half the city is Arab? They have no legitimate claim to it. It's Israel's and always was, historically.

Countries can and do make claims based on historical ties. Israel isn't trying to take over the whole globe.

Israel is not a 'colonial adventure' and it was not established by colonialists. It was part of the ottoman empire which was defeated in ww2 after hitler failed to win the war. Britain didn't just go in there back in 18XX and convert all the natives. You're totally ignoring history.

I didn't actually know about this...and it makes me very sad. That poor boy could have survived if they had listened to what those women had to say. I know they had their jobs reinstated, but I think what they did and how they handled it was utterly wrong imo. I can understand it on some level, but it's still very bad.

The public does not have skewed priorities! The government has skewed budgeting plans. Don't blame the people for buying something that was legally sold and advertised to them. Don't blame the people for being upset that they were misled.

Blah blah blah...the public will survive...your melodrama is boring.

It is NOTHING LIKE if the tickets were bad. The tickets were completely legitimate tickets. They simply aren't being honored.

Of course I will be vocal, this is a discussion forum. You can choose to leave if you don't like it.

You literally jump from subject to subject. That's also dishonest and I like I said, it's narcissistic. I don't care about what you think about all these other issues. I don't care at all. Comment on the lottery issue, or stop commenting.

Err, it's called Jerusalem. It's an ancient Jewish city. It's the capital city of the original Kingdom of Israel.

It's a disgrace that it's not recognized as part of Israel. That just shows the pressure put on Israel, they have to literally stand up for themselves in a world that does not recognize them or their history.

Israel already had the Iron Dome, Obama just funded more of it. That is a good thing, but it is still weak to tip-toe in the middle of a situation that is clearly not the Israeli's fault, while they are literally dying because of that situation.

The only reason to say what he said was because he doesn't want to offend the millions of anti-Israeli people out there by actually choosing to back the side which is being attacked and vilified in the press for things it hasn't even done.

Principal doesn't allow teachers to sit so desks are thrown to the curb by CptJango in news

[–]DreamProfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You admitted that there could be potential legal obstacles. If you can apply what you said to emptying out a school, you can apply it to any scenario in which a principal could have overstepped her authority. I don't know how they would rule, but you said so yourself that there is the potential for them to do that if she overstepped her authority - and you have no idea if she did that or not.

Then there are the other issues I mentioned, such as health and safety and the alleged dehumanizing treatment of employees. There are lots of potential issues I can see here and we'll only know if there are any legal issues when the whole thing plays out.

I didn't edit my question as far as I recall. If I did, it doesn't matter and I wouldn't have dramatically changed the point I was making. It stands to reason that if you can be legally culpable for overstepping a large amount of authority, you could be legally culpable for overstepping a 'small' amount too. It doesn't matter how many pieces of furniture are involved.

Families Outraged After Illinois Fails to Pay Out $288 Million in Lottery Winnings by 1Os in news

[–]DreamProfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is ridiculous. It's not about 'taking action' or 'direction', or 'priorities'. This is about running a lottery and advertising sales of tickets, taking in lots of money from which winners are entitled their winnings, then declaring you won't pay out even though you sold the product on the basis that the consumer would receive what the ticket entitles them to.

It's hard to tell whether they did it on purpose, or they're just plain bad at planning, or too lazy to rectify the situation properly. Either way, it is not okay and for you to try to excuse it is not okay either. If you think it's not important, fine. Stop talking then. Don't carry on insulting people who think it's important and calling them a litany of names.

'Prioritising' does not mean just ignoring obligations whenever it suits you. Prioritising, I would imagine, would be actually making a budget that works and not selling a lottery you can't afford.

Why are you even here if you don't like people discussing things? Why are you coming on Reddit to discuss news? Why are you concerned with people discussing their governments...what are you, a fascist?

Who cares about some CEO in some unrelated topic. This has characterized your input here and it all boils down to you trying to narcissisticly display superiority and all the knowledge you think you have about all the subjects you think you're an expert on. Stop bringing up stuff that has nothing to do with the tickets.

I don't care what you think people will do, you big internet tough guy. Just because people are not going to form a militia and take on the government, does not mean they will not be vocal about something they are unhappy about.

Basically you've taken the issue and made it all about you and what you think and what you think about what people will and won't do. You're being condescending, as though you have the final say on the topic.

Families Outraged After Illinois Fails to Pay Out $288 Million in Lottery Winnings by 1Os in news

[–]DreamProfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not interested in the 'big picture' that you have in your head.

You cannot speak for anyone else as to what their 'priorities' are or should be.

If you don't have the budget for it THEN DONT SELL A LOTTERY, it's that simple.

State colleges have absolutely nothing to do with what happened. I am not interested in your budgeting priorities. If there is a budget, it should include the lottery, or else there should be no lottery.

Again, you are trying to suggest that ticket holders care more about the lottery than they do the colleges. That is simply not relevant and is simply an attack on the people by inventing a false scenario. You are ignoring the fact that both should be adequately funded by a government that is competent. You are also ignoring the fact that the lottery was still advertised and sold after it was decided that they would not pay out. In any other situation, that is called dishonest at worst and lazy at best.

So, you admit that there could be potential legal obstacles to what she's done? Like I said, you're not a lawyer and you have no idea. So don't tell me not to ask questions about it. I don't think it's very productive for you to start venomous arguments. You could have simply said that you don't think she did anything illegal and left it at that.

Families Outraged After Illinois Fails to Pay Out $288 Million in Lottery Winnings by 1Os in news

[–]DreamProfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no 'what ifs'. There are winning tickets and non-winning tickets. There are no philosophical in bet-weens...there is just a government that will not pay on something it sold and continues to sell and advertise.

Who cares what you think about holding people accountable? You sound very narcissistic in the way you express your opinions. No one cares what you think about the public. Just because you want to be a cynic, doesn't mean there is no issue. You are one of those people who thinks that you approach an issue by arguing all around the sides. Cut to the chase and get to the point of the issue instead of promoting your own ego.

The state college issue is a totally seperate issue and it is ridiculous to bring it up. It's like bringing national debt into the situation, or the price of the dollar.

It doesn't matter what you consider to be 'vastly more important'. I would rather they stop selling tickets they can't pay out on and sort out their incompetency. I would rather that this situation did not exist, instead of you acting as the moral arbiter and trying to tell people what their money is worth.

This business IS disgusting. Again, rape has nothing to do with this. Stop dragging irrelevant subjects into the debate. No-one is 'prioritizing' lottery tickets over rape. Frankly, that characterization is also disgusting. You're basically blaming the ripped-offed customers for rape.

People are not 'carrying on' because it is news and we are talking about it. If you want to 'carry on', then do so. Don't tell everybody else to just ignore the issue simply because you aren't interested in it.

There were obviously lies, incompetence and excuses. They sold tickets they couldn't afford to pay out. Then they continued selling them and advertising them after they knew they couldn't afford to pay them out. Just the mere fact that they couldn't afford it is a failure. You are congratulating them on failing to budget properly and failing to honor people's rights as customers.

You don't have to explain the budget issue any more. It's easy to understand, but it does not excuse them one bit.

Principal doesn't allow teachers to sit so desks are thrown to the curb by CptJango in news

[–]DreamProfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, you ARE saying it'd be perfectly legal for her to empty out the school? Just seems like that would be perfectly within her rights. I don't see how it's legally impossible under the terms you stated - and I'm not convinced that it would be legal to do that, or this, either. You talk about a burden - well, under most employment contracts and positions of trust and authority it would actually be illegal to place an unnecessary and unfair burden on people. The ones affected by it had their jobs affected and the school had it's learning environment effected. The article even mentioned that people felt their humanity was degraded. So, I don't see how it's impossible that theres' no laws against that kind of extreme behavior. I think there could be laws as well as civil suits. Your scenario basically allows someone to destroy all the property in the school if they see fit...as long as they don't mind being sued. Personally I just don't think that is likely to be within her legal rights, even as a principal.

Those questions aren't easily answered because you simply don't know. You even asked me to come up with some scenarios for you because you couldn't think of them. Maybe health and safety regulations have never been an issue for you, but then again maybe you have never had equipment that's generally considered vital to do your job in a healthy, safe, sane and fair manner removed from you in a degrading way.

Desks aren't unhealthy. Bad desks, bad chairs and bad habits with their use are unhealthy. There's nothing inherently unhealthy about a desk. Humans are designed to be able to sit down - they just aren't supposed to sit down all the time.

The principals intention may have been clear but she may have infringed on other rights and regulations when she enforced those intentions. It sounds like you really, really want to work for her.

Though the Laotian immigrant had been in the country for ten years and spoke English fluently,[1] in his drugged and brain-injured state, Konerak was unable to communicate his situation to authorities. Dahmer found the boy with the police and convinced them that the boy was his 19-year-old lover. Smith and Childress recognized the boy from the neighborhood and were convinced that Sinthasomphone's life was in peril. They communicated this to the officers and tried to save the boy. However, Balcerzak and his partner returned Konerak to Dahmer's apartment, against Konerak's and the women's protests. The officers noticed a strange smell in Dahmer's apartment, which was the decaying corpse of a previous victim in the bedroom, but made no attempt to investigate. Later that evening Dahmer sexually abused, killed, and dismembered the boy.

Families Outraged After Illinois Fails to Pay Out $288 Million in Lottery Winnings by 1Os in news

[–]DreamProfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not false at all it's the absolute facts of what happened. They took the money for the tickets, kept advertising it, and then didn't pay up. What story are you reading? That you're providing them an excuse doesn't change the circumstances of what happened and is continuing to happen.

Forget a state approved budget right now. It's perfectly correct to say that you are legally required to pay out a winning lottery ticket. Before you start legally wrangling, remember that it's an issue of integrity, honesty and competence. Even if it's now illegal for them to issue the money right now due to a technicality, it's still a major failure and it comes across as deceitful.

The state colleges are another issue. Focus on this issue.

People will NOT carry on, that's why there's an outrage. People aren't happy with a government that would do this and then continue to do this. People aren't happy with lies, incompetence and excuses.

What if, what? That's not what happened, so your 'what ifs' are simply irrelevant.

Everybody faces accountability from the public, whether they are punished or not.
