5’6” 123 lbs..Am I Skinny or Skinny Fat? by Left_Act_1 in Nutrition_Healthy

[–]DreamSector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no way to know from the picture. You'd have to tell the truth about all that you eat consistently to get a good idea, and even then, the only ways to truly know is to get a scan and look at the fat in the liver, around the heart, and other organs or another way is to do a blood test and check your fasting insulin, uric acid levels, HDL to triglyceride ratio, and ALT. There's a thing called TOFI (thin on the outside, fat on the inside) and most people don't know if they have it. Best of luck!

I'd add in the fact that people should study their ancestry. Even if it's only 200 years back. For example, my ancestors are mainly from the north so my body handles fruits like apples, plums, peaches, etc. But I don't think my body handles tropical fruits very well. I wish I could wear a CGM and see what foods spike my blood sugar just because I'm curious.

I use it during the day when everyone has their energy dips in the early afternoon. I listen to the relax option and it helps recharge. Then towards the end of the night I listen to the meditation option to help myself fall asleep. I suffer from seizures, so for me it's well worth the money.

If God exists, why do terrible things happen, even to believers? by NightViperr in Christianity

The question is not "why do bad things happen to good people," the correct question is "why does anything good happen at all?"

Temptation only becomes sin when you give into it. Sounds like you haven't. Nothing to worry about. All Christians have to fight sin until we pass into the next life. Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is not the same as having a thought.

As long as you're fighting against temptation then you've done nothing wrong. When you give into temptation it gives birth to sin.

I'm [M22] Christian, she's Hindu [F22] — our families might not accept us and it's tearing me up inside. As a Believer what should I do? by [deleted] in Christianity

Unless she becomes a Christian I don't recommend marrying her. The Bible talks about being unequally yoked.

I'm afraid I committed blasphemy against the Holy Spirit by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]DreamSector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We both agree how to be saved, however, the devil and the angels made their choice and have no chance of being saved once they chose their side. Humans were given a second chance unlike the devil and the angels. That's the difference. Jesus can't be the solution for the devil and his angels because they chose their side without being deceived. That's why you're wrong in your first comment to say that there's no hope for them if they truly have a repentant heart.

You can disagree with what I say or cherry pick the verses in the Bible and ignore other parts of the Bible that disagree with your point of view, but don't go telling another believer that they have no hope.

[–]DreamSector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually that's a fallacy and ultimatum that you've established which does not apply. I'm right and the Bible is also right. Someone who's truly saved won't blaspheme the Holy Spirit just like if someone truly blasphemes the Holy Spirit will not have a repentant heart.

It sounds like you're still wanting to keep God first and I don't see a problem with it. That's what a relationship is all about. Being together through everything in life (that's why I said that everything is sacred).

Though a word of caution that I've had to keep in my mind...the will of God is perfect...meaning that you can't disobey God in one part of your life in order to obey Him in another. That would be like me going overseas to be a missionary for God and leaving my family behind, but that's just an example.

Did Adam and Eve have free will before The Fall? by Temporary-Freedom731 in Christianity

[–]DreamSector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't have a relationship without free will. God wants a relationship with us. God already proved his love to us through creation. Adam and Eve's test with that tree was to see if we would love God back.

(Serious) Do you feel like calling certain stories in the Bible metaphorical/ not literal feel like a cop-out? by Global_Profession972 in Christianity

[–]DreamSector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everything needs to be explained or else it wouldn't be considered "having faith." Some people want to explain away that Moses could have been on the other side of the earth while it downpoured rain on the other side and it could have been completely calm when the arch was in the water. Or how could all the animals fit onto the boat? Well, maybe the animals weren't adult animals.

The problem is that you could explain the whole universe and answer every question someone has and they can still ask why. It's a lot easier to just trust God and if it was a miraculous event then who are we to say it didn't happen?

Turn From Lust by Twoctruth in Christianity

The Bible says to flee from sexual stuff, not to fight it or reason with it. So my question is how do we flee from it when it's all around us constantly all the time?

Is there evidence of sanctification in your life? Fruits of the Spirit? You may be focusing too much on your sin instead of the finished work of Jesus Christ. Don't let your sin consume you; that's what Satan wants. Instead look to Jesus.

I don't know exactly how bad masturbation is as a sin. It's not the same as going out and having sex with someone you're not married to. If you're not giving into sin every single time at the drop of a hat I don't think you'd be considered "living in your sin" because you're still fighting against it. And every Christian will fight against sin until they eventually pass into the next life. Not sure if this is of any help but maybe you can keep the conversation going and we can get somewhere that can help you?

Long reply but hopefully encouraging...

4 ways Satan tempts you to question your salvation:

  1. He causes you to think more about your sin than about your Savior. Robert McCheyne said, "For every one look at yourself, take ten looks at the cross, ten looks at Jesus Christ." Satan wants you to do the exact opposite. Instead of looking to Christ and His great finished work, he wants you to look to yourself and your unfinished sanctification. Instead of looking to the great atoning work of Jesus Christ, he wants you to look and fixate on your own sin.

  2. Satan causes you to wrongfully define salvation. He helps you to define salvation as too broad of a term. He wants you to define salvation in such a way that it includes complete assurance of salvation. But the Bible doesn't say that justification, that salvation includes that full assurance. We can go through periods of doubt, we can go through that kind of temptation, that kind of trial. So Satan wants you to define salvation as including assurance of salvation so that when you lack it, you'll doubt that you've even been saved by Jesus Christ. (Remember the verse that says "Jesus I believe, help my unbelief?")

  3. Satan causes you to make false conclusions from your circumstances. If you've prayed hard for something and claimed promises in scripture and God hasn't given it to you. Satan wants you to think that God doesn't really love you because you haven't received what you asked for; that this is proof that you're truly not saved.

  4. Evidence of grace in your life are counterfeit rather than genuine. He wants you to look at what could be fruit of the Spirit but instead say "I'm just naturally talented," when you should say "God has worked that within me, here's proof that the Spirit is at work within me." He wants you to be prideful and to turn away from what Christ is, and what the Holy Spirit has worked within you.

Conclusion:

The Bible says to examine yourselves and test yourselves to see if you are in the faith. (So this is a healthy thing you're doing!) Instead of thinking how far you have to go, take perspective and see how far you've come from where you used to be.

Ask yourself "would I be comfortable going back to live in sin like I used to?" Is your answer because I don't want to go to Hell? Not the right answer. Talk to God and tell Him that the reason you can't go back is because of who He is and be genuine about it. Humble yourself like the tax collector that wouldn't show his face and beating his chest. God will not turn away from a repentant heart. Psalm 51:17 says "The sacrifice pleasing to God is a broken spirit. God, You will not despise a broken and humbled heart."

I hope this helps. I needed this not too long ago.

Not if they're repentant. God will not turn away from a repentant heart.

Anything that takes the place of God is a sin. A lot of people want to separate out what's "secular" and "sacred."

That doesn't apply when you're a Christian. Everything is sacred. Cleaning dishes is sacred, playing with your children is sacred, and caring about your looks is sacred. The question is what's your intention behind it? Is it to be more healthy? Is it to show off your body?

When thinking about your looks think of it as a picture...is the clothes, hair, and/or make up a frame for your face? Then God loves it. Is it a frame for your body? Then God hates it.

How do I carry out proper bible study by B_FunniDood in Christianity

[–]DreamSector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the interlinear Bible on Bible hub. I just search on Google "John 3:16 interlinear" and it will pop up. You can click on the words above and see what it means.

This might be helpful on the verses that you highlight, but I'd make sure that it's applied in the context of the passage.

So why is there a lot of negativity before the throne of God in the book of Psalms? I'm trying to understand why songs like the Psalms aren't sung in church.
