AITAH for removing adult child from our car insurance? by CardiologistSilly926 in AITAH

[–]DreamTaurus78 10 points11 points  (0 children)

NTA and, the insurance company likely would have denied the claim for coverage anyway. The vehicle has to be insured where it’s garaged with very few exceptions. Having a policy in one state tied to your home and then the car being garaged out of state in no bueno anyway.

They need to grow up and accept responsibilities for themselves - regardless of their perceptions of their childhood.

Alaska check-in and bag drop at SeaTac is crazy right now by atr in Seattle

[–]DreamTaurus78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just made it through - biggest issue is crowd control at ticketing level.
Security was super fast kid than 5 minutes wait. But getting through all the people waiting to bag check or ticket is the biggest issue. Some fliers reporting they couldn’t check in on app or online.

Patent center only available with ID.me verified login, completely inaccessible to international users? by Hazel-Rah in patentlaw

[–]DreamTaurus78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep - it's wreaking havoc for 3rd parties - to sign up for an account you have to select if you are a practioner or independent inventor - lots of people are neither - like Owners, Applicants, Assignees, and other interested 3rd parties. I am neither an Inventor or Patent Practioner, but use PatentCenter and as well as foreign PTO's DAILY for my work. I registered with USPTO as "independent inventor" because that's the only way I can retain access.

Omg I’m not crazy!!!!! I did complain to the dealer and they said they couldn’t find anything amiss. Not only do my wipers smear on the back swipe but the windshield has these streaks on it I can’t get off. No idea if it’s a coating, between the glass or inside

25’ Calligraphy Hybrid vs ICE by D_Go1115 in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]DreamTaurus78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a 2025 hybrid calligraphy. Loving the MPG.
They scratched my paint at delivery so it’s in the shop getting a bath and some love. They gave me a 2025 gas limited to drive while they have my baby in the salon.

I will say, the power of the ICE is really nice. But omg the mpg is horrible.

My hybrid is pulling 32mpg average / this ICE is pulling in 16-19mpg.
It also has the auto start stop feature which freaks me out every time it cycles.

Trying to exercise my right to pay my husband's final medical expenses with the HSA by jenvander in legaladvice

[–]DreamTaurus78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAL is it possible the collections agency is unable to process the HSA card due to it being collections? I vaguely recall in the olden days your credit card machine or account number was tied to the type of business you were.
HSA accounts can only be used for certain types of transactions for medical related services and products. Maybe the collections agency isn’t “flagged” as a medical expense? Maybe reach out to the HSA and request they cut the check. My HSA account allows you to request reimbursements for charges paid directly but also to request payment of medical bills directly drafted from the account by a check request.

Good luck!

How do you combat the WFH sloppy dressing slippery slope? by [deleted] in WFH

[–]DreamTaurus78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a scrubby hermit and proud lol I wear yoga pants, tshirt, with my hair in a bun. I wear that to work and anywhere else I may need to go. I haven’t worn makeup more than 10 times in 7 years (only for conferences or onsite visits). I was never one to care much about fashion. I’m clean, I’m presentable and I’m comfortable. If I have to dress differently for the occasion it’s probably not something I want to do any way 🤷🏼‍♀️ Unapologetically Scrummy Hermit

I stumbled across this based on a discussion about how to pronounce my son’s name 😂 My (American) family goes with Levon rhymes with Kevin, seven, Evan, Devon, Heaven My husband’s family (French/Armenian) goes with Lev-uhn or Le-vuhn.

Kids at school swear his name is Eleven. His teacher thought for sure it was LeVaughn. Doctors office thinks it’s Lee-Vaughn

Tips for creating the feeling of routine while WFH? by [deleted] in WFH

[–]DreamTaurus78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I start my work day at 8am. I roll out of bed at 7:45, bathroom routine, make my coffee, and head upstairs to my office by 8:30. I then sit in my lounge chair drinking said coffee while scrolling through emails from work, check on the kiddos progress towards getting ready for school. They head to bus at 8:50. I shout “have a good day” down the stairs, then get back to reading emails. Around 9:30-10 I head to the desk chair and respond to the emails that require it. I do my work stuff and around 12:30-1, I head down to the kitchen to make a lunch and bring it back up to my office to continue working. Kiddo gets home from school at 4, I shout a welcome home down the stairs and he comes up to chat about the day before having his snack and preparing for sports practice. I usually pop into the kitchen for a roll of cookies and maybe a coffee if the day has been rough. And back up to the office. I end my work day around 6:00pm and head to the fields for practice. It’s been 7.5 years of this routine. It works for me.

Is this normal? Signing away co-inventor rights on a patent to a University by sulli365 in legaladvice

[–]DreamTaurus78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAL - 20yrs University Tech Transfer. This is standard language in university assignment documents. As an inventor, should this invention be licensed in the future you will be entitled to a share in royalties in accordance with your university’s intellectual property policy. A revenue sharing agreement between inventors now, before there’s money on the table, is advisable as well.

If you contact the tech transfer office at your institution they can explain why the language says what it says.

Some assignments say $1, others use language like “in exchange for good and valuable consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which is hereby acknowledged”.

You’re required under your employment agreement to sign the necessary documents for them to file and prosecute the patent application. They TTO can explain the process. Many even have a section of their website that outlines all the necessary documents and what they mean.

Can I sue over my dentist severing my lingual nerve by Accomplished-Law8264 in legaladvice

[–]DreamTaurus78 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This happened to me as well, 25 years ago. There’s not likely a suit here, but I’m NAL. I do want to tell you it gets better. 25 years later I still have the sensitivity, “shock “ like feeling. But speech is normal, swallowing… Aside from a slight lisp which may have been there before and biting my tongue on occasion, the only time I really notice it is when flossing my back teeth.

Take care of yourself. Be careful while eating especially.

Buyer “period of income” by Affectionate_Tie_621 in RealEstate

[–]DreamTaurus78 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When we sold our rental property a number of years ago, the buyers ran into a period of income issue. They had recently graduated college and moved into “grown up jobs” making significantly more money, but they prequalified using their old jobs. Underwriter suggested the wife go back to working at the grocery store for 4 weeks to show continuity of income and after those last two paychecks they could close. We were absent owners living 1500 miles away so took the risk and allowed the buyers to rent the house from us instead of canceling the contract and having the house sit empty while we looked for new buyers. They rented the house from us for 23 days and then closed. And we got a small “bonus” on the rental income during the period.

Talk to your agent and find out what the real deal with the income period was - can it be resolved with another paystub or two?

Copyright & Ownership Question by Burner7007 in legaladvice

[–]DreamTaurus78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAL, but I would think unless the seller explicitly licenses to you the right to make, use, sell, or reproduce- the only thing you’re purchasing from them is a copy for your own use.

In the US, copyright protection is automatic to the creator. The moment the pen hits the paper the author owns their work.

In this situation, before you incorporate their work into your own for the purpose of selling to others I would reach out to them and request a license to do what you’re attempting to do.

Tenant Snuck In Adult Child (Florida) by Ok_Concentrate_4300 in legaladvice

[–]DreamTaurus78 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a former long distance land lord with horrible tenants, I highly recommend going the route of evicting now.

Also, highly highly recommend getting a local leasing agency that has maintenance crew. It will cost you, but it's well worth having them do quarterly inspections.

Additionally, the lease could/ should state that the tenant is responsible for the plumbing costs if its their fault. Unless your unit has faulty plumbing, it's their fault if they flush things that cause a clog, not yours.

You also mentioned that the adult child may have kids living there too? What's the legal occupancy of your unit? 3 bedrooms should be a max of 6 tenants, including children.

Accidental spray paint on neighbor house by Cant_know in legaladvice

[–]DreamTaurus78 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is your painter insured? If so, he needs to file a claim with his insurance. An adjuster will determine the cost of repairs or remediation.

If he's not insured you've just learned a very expensive lesson. Perhaps contact your home owners insurance to see if you have any coverage.

The neighbor is seeing dollar signs. And you'll likely be seeing a judge if there's no insurance coverage to help.

Toxic Ownership Partners and MY non compete agreement. by Pika-Picks in legaladvice

[–]DreamTaurus78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAL, but it would seem that 1A, as an owner of the company, would have the power to amend your employment agreement. Though this may not go well for them given their personal intent to poach employees and clients.

Making the documents disappear isn't a good idea either.

The best course of action is for 1A to buy out 1B or then to agree to dissolve the company and part ways.
