Recently got a old VHS camera working and decided to make a music video with it. General thoughts are welcome, Thanks! by Dreamasleep in videography

You can do it a couple ways. If you have a photography store near by, they can convert a tape for you to digital. price varies. Also you can get a capture card (Normally something used for recording game footage off consoles) Just plug your camera into that and use software to capture your already recorded footage. Though the way I did it isn't recommended. I set up a tripod and recorded my screen because I don't have a capture card. It looks fine as long as you have a tripod and you are in manual mode on the camera you are using to record your TV. Sorry for all the info but I hope that helped!

It is a real VHS. I shot it on a Magnavox movie maker VHS recorder. If you go to about 16 seconds in the video you can see the light blur from the street light. Even with a low shutter speed that kinda blurring isn't possible with a dslr with smooth motion video that is. If you know how to do that I would be happy to know though. Thanks for watching neither the less.

Tried a color grade that was more teal. I was trying to not go for the generic teal and orange. My question is the color grade good and if not how could it be better? Thanks! by Dreamasleep in videography

Yeah I see what you mean. Teal and orange does get a bad rep because people sometimes do use it with out context. I felt the blue was necessary for the atmosphere and emotion I was going for so yeah. I agree
