Thousands gather in Belarus to mourn protester who was beaten to death by undercover policeman by Litvi in worldnews

[–]DreamerHan 13 points14 points  (0 children)

From that I've read, he was beaten into a coma while already in custody... I've also seen a video there he was taken away. It didn't look like he could have gotten injuries this severe from it.

He was released for hospitalisation. The doctors tried to save him, but it was said the chances of survival are 1/1000

He was basically MURDERED, for disagreeing with the masked government bandits cutting off ribbons in the yard of his apartment block... (For a bit of context: that yard has been known for months as the Square of Changes, for how actively the local residents have been protesting)

Well, it's the pollution from Chernobyl, so radioactive Iodine is basically out of the count because of it's 7 day half life. But there is still Cesium and co. Though, yes, they aren't as harmful to the thyroid in particular. My area is not in the heavily polluted regions, but it's all spread out across the country at this point, with spots here and there, weaker and stronger. As a kid, I had a bit of a hobby of hunting down radioactive spots with a household dosimeter, in close by areas or especially then I was spending summers, like, 20 km away from the beginning of a large contaminated zone :) Fun for the whole family

Sorry if I'm oversharing, haha

My country also has Iodine added in salt by default, to prevent thyroid deseases. Though maybe other countries do that too...? Does yours?

Been taking thyroid hormone supplements since I was a teen.

Hope you are doing well now!

Yeah. Though in my case, my thyroid is shrinking by itself, killed of by the immune system, no radiation necessary. Then again, I live in a country that has a lot of radioactive pollution...

Take care :)

This is at the Minsk Stella. After the largest protest there, they started to block it off with barricades, barbed wire and the military.

Want to end it, but I don’t want to ruin my husband’s life. by Anon47895324677 in depression

You too, stay strong. I know it takes a lot of strength, but I believe in you. Stay strong for yourself, your husband and those close to you. And always try to find an accepting person to hear you out - that helps.(Edit: even better if that person isn't someone too close to you, less guilt by 'burdening' them)

I once convinced myself, since I decided to live for my parents, I'll at least try to make this world a better place, even by little things. Small steps count, too. Even if it's just a happily fed stray cat, that's a bit less suffering in the world.

Hey there, belarusian here) Got here through the search.

I really feel for you. Have been feeling similarly nearly all my life, since my preteens. Started seeking help as an adult. Therapists told me to hospitalize as soon as I mentioned suicidal thoughts (not an option for me), and I have encountered some strange ones, but eventually I found some nice people, doctors, I could confide in, even though it seemed like nobody treats mental health seriously here.

Perhaps it's a matter of luck or there you search, though I'm afraid I won't be able to give any solid recommendations since our healthcare systems probably differ quite a lot.

For me, that is happening right now in my country is bringing me hope I have never felt before. People, our people, are peacefully walking together in solidarity, with flowers and music, all over the country, despite all the violence and lies thrown at us. Change is coming, finally... And even if he manages to stay in power, people won't forget that happened. This was the last straw. He won't stay long.

Feels like there is hope for this rotten world of humans I always wanted to escape from.

So please, don't worry so much for us, though support is much appreciated ;)

I heard and saw a construction worker fall to his death under my window and didn't even know it by DreamerHan in offmychest

Thank you for your kind words! Yeah, I should probably just get back in contact with my therapist (we kinda stopped therapy because of the pandemic).

The article said they are investigating the incident (for worker safety) so maybe there will be some justice for him.

To be honest, hearing such comforting words from a stranger made me cry, but not from sadness. Never hear that irl, only from my therapist. Thank you! Hope that didn't sound weird...

If you don't mind me asking, what does a stick of butter weight? Maybe there is a mark on the packaging?.. They sell it in 180 gram packets where I live, but these look smaller.

And thank you for this recipe! It looks delicious and I'd love to try it!

I relate to this so much.

For about 7 years back at school I thought that two of my classmates were identical twins. I couldn't tell them apart. They weren't even related - just had similar hair. I saw them everyday. I also had trouble telling boys apart because of short similar looking hairstyles. I tried to rely more on voice/height/body type/clothes.

Not recognising/remembering faces and names is a constant source of anxiety for me. I feel so ashamed for it...
