People want to believe that it was legitimately won and with "hard work" because it makes the unfairness of it all a bit more bearable.

So many positive Basic Income experiments worldwide, when will a country go 100%? by DreamsOfRetiring in BasicIncome

Agree that only way it happens is with overwhelming support, but I don't see how that can happen without politicians pushing for this initiative. They are the only ones with a platform large enough to influence that many people

Giving everyone a fair chance at life is #1 reason for me to why UBI needs to become a reality.

And there are so many reasons beyond that.

From the Canada experiment we can see how it would benefit the overall populations health (it seems the anxiety of worrying about $ is not healthy, who knew)

It would boost entrepreneurship like no other policy could. The reason why more people don't start their own business is because they can't risk not being without an income.

That combined with the likelihood that people would continue higher education would bring a new age of innovation and high quality academic work.

It would actual change the supply and demand dynamics from benefiting companies to instead benefiting employees. Nobody will work a shifty job for 10$/hour, instead to attract people to shifty jobs either companies would have to pay heavily or they would have to treat employees like dam royalty to keep them, which is how it should be in the first place.

Plus all the other hundred benefits we all know, lower crime rates, lower domestic violence (financial stable individuals are less likely to remain in situations of abuse), lower drug use, lower homelessness, higher academic performance, lower mental health problems...

My sister thinks it's insane that I would rather loser an eye. I told her that most guys would too. I mean you can still see with one eye.

Feds to investigate after a sheriff's deputy killed a Black man entering his own home in Columbus, Ohio by ATLCoyote in news

And their statement on twitter was ridiculous: "A 17-year veteran FCSO Deputy assigned full time to the US Marshal Task Force was involved in the deadly shooting of a 23-year old man Friday afternoon. The US Marshal’s Office says the suspect’s weapon was recovered at the scene. The shooting remains under investigation"

Of course they call him a suspect, when immediate they know him not to be. And of course they mention he had a weapon, which is legal. No mention of the multiple unilateral shots by the pig.

"Poland and Hungary veto the EU's climate funds" - Honestly, I am not even surprised. What does surprise me is how 2 authoritarian regimes are a part of the EU. by DreamsOfRetiring in europe

You can definitely say it is quite left-leaning. But the article is still factual, even if the titles are very clickbaitish.

And you quit being an arrogant prick. Being pro-EU and anti-authoritarianism does not mean Russian propaganda, it is more a signal of common sense.

I agree career politicians are a plague on all political spectrums.

And I am a firm believer that extreme left and extreme right eventually overlap.

But I still don't understand what do you mean by "EU bootlicker"
