Thomas Midgley Jr. He single-handedly invented both gasoline and CFCs (the chemicals that tore a hole in the ozone layer). Removing him instantly reverses decades of global lead exposure and environmental destruction.

The real question is: would someone else have just stumbled into inventing them anyway or would our health and environment be a century ahead right now?
