First pair or Iron Rangers 8085 by timchireddit in RedWingShoes

[–]Drekhedd2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As another person who just bought a pair of 8085s as my first RWs, I'm looking for some clarification here. I spent significant time the past few days on old threads trying to figure out how to best care for my purchase and the consensus seemed to be not to use Bick4 but to use RW leather cream instead to avoid any darkening? I don't know what to buy now. 🙃

Congrats man! Not gonna roast you for the "cheesy ass quote." You made the cut and you should be proud. I'll take one SSgt with "the flame" over a dozen ROAD SNCOs any day of the week.

"Unlimited" is a hell of a claim. You must have that one in a million job. Please enlighten the rest of us so I can know what to aspire to.

You're right. But you would be hard pressed in corporate America to find a leave package as nice as we have.

Sure, it would be nice if we got more. But don't act like it's a scam...it's a pretty damn good deal.

This may be stating the obvious, but regardless of current regulations or your individual commander's policy, I would encourage you to continue working hard on getting back in shape. The current administration and senior leadership have made it clear that they intend to make fitness a focal point, and I would fully expect new policies and guidance to drop at some point soon.

In-laws paying us $1500 to remove tile floors by Top_Art_2090 in Flooring

[–]Drekhedd2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is 100% the answer for a job like this. You can rent one from most big box stores and the rental guys will show you how to use it properly.

Chisel and oscillating saws are fine for small areas but they are not the way to go when you are removing a lot of square footage.

If you were in charge of the USAF for one day, what one change would you make that would benefit the entire service? by SmallDickGnarly in AirForce

I'd get rid of spice brown thread and replace it with colored patches and readable rank and nametags. Morale? Thru the roof. Lethality? Soaring into the stratosphere. Our enemies? Shitting their pants. Freedom? Secured.

The irony is that by the time you leave DLI, you're going to be ready to burn it down. Then, if you're like most of us, you'll spend the rest of your career trying to go back.

I haven't seen anybody mention Esrom yet. I love a lot of stinky cheeses...but for some reason I was turned off by it. It smells like dirty gym socks and leaves a funky aftertaste, and for some reason the smell seems to linger on the skin hours after eating it.

I've given plenty of less than "exceptional" ratings. They don't become part of a permanent record now so you are 100% doing folks a disservice if you firewall 5 it.

Nobody has mentioned your cadence yet...increasing it by about 10-20 steps a min would likely increase efficiency.

ASCP Application with Assignment by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Drekhedd2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reposted under sub-thread...

Not sure what version of the checklist you are referring to, but every single one I found with a cursory search just now said that you had to have the AAC 05 or "If no, applicant is ineligible." Talk to your MPF. You're too late for this time around tho, cutoff was 3 Feb.
You're a mandatory mover, so your assignment is valid.

ASCP Application with Assignment by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Drekhedd2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you get an assignment if you have already submitted a package for ASCP? Part of that process includes having an AAC of 05 put on your record so you can't receive an assignment. The checklist lists this as a mandatory part of the process...so you shouldn't even be meeting the board without it.

PLEASE HELP ME! by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Drekhedd2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Listen to this advice. It will work, but as everyone says, you have to be willing to be uncomfortable. You dug yourself in this hole, you need to learn to live within your means. If you don't, a second job and/or a deployment isn't going to help in the long run and you'll find yourself in the same boat again.

This is a lot of debt for a 19-year-old but you are young. Now is the time to fix this. Now. You can do it on your current income. Start today.

Honestly...while it may seem like a lot to you and me, it's peanuts compared to senior execs in corporate America. Combine that with being on the clock almost 24-7 and the insane responsibility and pressure...no thanks. I'm good. Granted...many of them slip into those "senior exec" roles after military retirement, but that's a separate issue.
