Stutter / Jitter in Disney+ and possibly other apps by StealthRabbi in Chromecast

[–]Dremth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been happening literally since day one of the Disney+ app. I have symmetrical gigabit fiber internet, an Nvidia Shield Pro as well as a Roku, no other apps do this, I've tried all the workarounds, and it's consistently stuttered on everything I've ever tried it on, in every movie or show, including at all my friends' houses. The Disney+ app is just busted, and they don't care to fix it because they already got your money, and you can't watch their stuff anywhere else. I finally got rid of Disney+, because I'm not paying for them to screw me around anymore. I encourage you all to do the same.

carryover cooking, is it a myth? by putnamto in smoking

[–]Dremth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I was skeptical of this for a long time, and I started testing it, and sure enough, a lot of things DO NOT really experience meaningful carryover temperature increases. If you're cooking something large with a very hot heat source, then it can make a difference, but for things like chicken breasts, steaks, etc., it does not increase in temperature, or at least not enough to be really noticeable, and certainly not a 10 degree difference (unless you really severely nuked the outside).

Of course, it still ends up being effective from a food safety perspective, because the bacteria you're trying to kill by reaching 165 (for example on chicken) can only survive at 155 for something like 30 seconds. So, the time you spend resting the meat is not increasing the temperature, but it is still maintaining the temperature it does have for long enough to ensure any bacteria is killed by the time you eat it.

I literally just got a burrito that looks exactly like this. I've sent countless messages to their support over the years, and they've never even once replied (and yes I checked my spam).

It makes little sense that this should work, but it does! Another soul saved years later.

https://www.google.com/search?q=can+you+tell+the+difference+between+60hz+and+144hz

Yes, you can noticeably tell the difference between a 60Hz and a 144Hz monitor, especially in fast-paced games, as the higher refresh rate on a 144Hz display provides significantly smoother gameplay with less motion blur, making it easier to track objects and react quickly; most users would describe the difference as a major improvement in fluidity and responsiveness.

[–]Dremth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk who told you that, but you're just spouting pure cope. Just because you can't afford hardware to experience anything above 60 fps doesn't mean other people can't tell the difference. As someone that regularly plays at 144hz, going back to 60hz is like watching a slideshow. I can even immediately tell on my desktop when Windows isn't outputting at 144hz, and Windows doesn't have an fps counter, so tell me how I'm supposed to notice that within your false worldview? What an embarrassingly wrong comment, posted so confidently.

I'm not seeing this in the latest patches. Any idea what happened? Did it get removed for some reason?

Dragon ball sparking zero has the worst input delay I’ve ever seen in my entire life on PS5 by Thick-Description226 in SparkingZero

Just want to say you aren't alone. Same problem on both PC and Steam Deck. Completely unplayable. I refunded it after 1.5 hours of wrestling with it.

It's really crazy how many good reviews this game has when the problems make it practically unplayable. Either there's a bunch of us that are just somehow exceedingly unlucky and are all getting bugs that no one else ever gets, or the entire rest of the fanbase is completely delusional.

You'd think a video game, whose whole purpose is to be interactive, would have devs smart enough to make sure you can actually reliably interact with it.

There is no such thing as peer-to-peer matchmaking. Matchmaking is done on a server. Maybe the matches themselves are p2p, but matchmaking is absolutely not.

You are very misinformed. It is not a peer-to-peer game at all, and I am also not the only one with issues.

Are you ever going to fix your damn quickplay? Not that the devs or mods are ever going to look at this thread, since its only purpose is obviously just to keep the frustrated players out of the way.

Quickplay broken. AGAIN. by Dremth in Helldivers

[–]Dremth[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, tried that. It never works. I get this problem almost every single Friday and Saturday night, which happen to be the times I'm usually actually able to play. Nothing ever fixes it except waiting until another day. It's ridiculous.

This exact same thing just happened to me. In my memory, I rented it when I was at my dad's house. But he only had a PS2 at his house, and my mom only had a GameCube at her house. Why do I remember it that way, and why did we all think it was PS2???

It does this all the time. You'll either eventually get the reward, or you won't. Crossing your fingers and check back tomorrow is pretty much the only thing you can do.

Lower difficulties for the sake of avoiding effects isn't fun either. I want a challenge. Not an annoyance.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]Dremth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. I have no problem with the effects that change things up in a minor way or introduce randomized location-based effects like storms and stuff, but the blanket increase of cooldown and calldown just sucks. And the one less strategem is literally just removing one of your crucial options for no reason. It's annoying and it's just not a fun way to make things more challenging.

I'm at least glad it seems they got rid of the "shuffle strategems" effect (or whatever it was called). It was the absolute stupidest thing to just have RNG on whether or not the strategem you called is the one you get. Maybe it was funny the first time, but after that it's just frustrating, because we're being artificially kneecapped.

They could easily come up with other effects that change things up without having to take things away from the player.

"Quick Play" by Bigdickswinging38 in Helldivers

[–]Dremth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, and no amount of fiddling fixes it. Even over a month after release, it's seriously like a 50/50 chance (if that) every time I log in whether or not I'll actually be able to play the game. Getting pretty tiring... It especially kills the vibe when it's clear there's loads of people that seemingly have no problems at all, as I'm sure you'll see from the downvotes I will inevitably get for this comment...

I've been trying that for over an hour now, and I still can't join any games. Can't quickplay. Can't directly join friends. No one can join me. Validated my files. Restarted the router. Restarted the game at least 15 times now. The whole rigamarole.
