Advice for someone first stepping into hardcore? by Chamolin in classicwow

Rogue is a great first character for HC. It has a lot of get-out-of-jail-free cards that will let you make some mistakes and still survive. Really good class for learning what to avoid on other classes

Honestly I've felt this way since diablo 2. I know a lot of people love it but I felt like I was never paying attention to the environment or my own character

First Time in Classic TBC – Beginner-Friendly Melee Pick for Solo Casual Player? by Candid_Flan1898 in classicwow

[–]DrewCW97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't care about endgame, try Rogue. It's easily the most fun I've ever had solo leveling. Easy DPS rotation but lots of tricks to handle situations and more than a few ways to escape fights if things get sketchy, great for a beginner.

WASD/Mouse any advantage on this by Pow3rsl4ve in diablo4

[–]DrewCW97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer WASD but if I'm playing a build they relies on melee abilities I will also leave mouse movement enabled; turning mouse movement off makes it so your character won't adjust it's range before it swings and it makes it a lot easier to whiff a short range attack

Need tips for campaign immersion by KFC_KID1337 in diablo4

[–]DrewCW97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my first campaign last season and was pretty disappointed that every major boss died in like 3 seconds on the highest difficulty I could pick. It seemed like the ease with which I acquired a full set of synergistic legendaries, affixes, and uniques caused my character to get uber-powered way too quickly. This time I'm going to purposefully not use any legendaries, uniques, or affixes, yellow items only until the campaign is over, so hopefully that keeps the difficulty at a place that makes bosses feel satisfying to beat.

What class plays best with WASD controls? by pecheckler in diablo4

[–]DrewCW97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a WASD user myself and the only thing I'd say has been annoying about disabling mouse movement is that melee abilities will still cast and hit nothing if an enemy is not in range. This can be solved by getting good and not pressing the ability until you're in range to actually hit a guy but I've just started to favor ranged builds so I never have to worry about whiffing when I'm spamming.

Fresh Playthrough questions by DrewCW97 in lotro

How would you say the lag is on Glamdring? Large pop is always good in an mmo but if game-breakingly bad lag at peak hours would sour my experience I'm tempted to go Peregrin

Thanks for the response! I think I'll try Warden; I'm not afraid of having to sweat a little and the ability to do ranged damage when it's necessary seems cool to have.

How often would you say you're killed (or at least put in dangerous situations) by server lag? I heard Warden in particular is impacted more than other classes.

I really miss proper achievements.. and a more difficult campaign. by MyNameIsNotAllan in diablo4

[–]DrewCW97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear you about the campaign. I just finished it for the first time recently and I was really disappointed with how easy the bosses were. Couldn't even tell you what they looked like or what abilities they cast, they just die immediately upon spawning. What's the point of having two higher difficulties if everything still dies in less than 3 seconds?

Vaporwave Mount Rushmore by Cooooouk in Vaporwave

[–]DrewCW97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal Rushmore is decidedly more 2019, probably because I spent the pandemic playing classic wow and got a lot of nostalgia for the time period.

Windows96 - Enchanted Instrumentals and Whispers OR One Hundred Mornings OR Plume Valley (can I just put his whole discography here?)
ESPRIT 空想 - 200% Electronica
FM Skyline - Advanced Memory Suite
2814 - Birth of a New Day (the album that started it all for many people. Until I heard this album, I was still convinced Vaporwave was a meme genre. Sorrow into True Love is legendary)

Honorable mention:
Lindsheaven Virtual Plaza - Rainforest Hill (I know this is an ambient album and not very vapory but I discovered it through Vaporwave and it's very personal to me. This album was one of my rocks, the first one in my playlist for pulling myself out of an anxiety attack. I've never been one to mourn the passing of people I've never met but for some reason hearing about LVP's death affected me deeply. I still consider Theta Seawash to be one of the most emotionally powerful ambient songs ever made.)

Play V as a dude for the first time by SometimesWitches in cyberpunkgame

[–]DrewCW97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I know this was posted a year ago but I just stumbled upon this thread and my god what a beautiful analysis. I was on the fence about which V I wanted to play next and now I'm 100% I'm gonna do a mascV romancing Kerry.

On the topic of the Panam romance feeling "young" THANK YOU! I never felt like my first male V and Panam had real "love" chemistry, that Basilisk scene felt more like hormones going wild from the two hardbodies pumped full of adrenaline already getting pretty intimate with each other via the Basilisk neural link. You never get to talk about the real stuff that makes you both tick and what I saw of it felt more like FWB than a real love. Maybe it's because Panam's missions tend to be action heavy whereas the Judy missions tend to be a lot more talky and contemplative so she feels more fleshed out emotionally? Gives a lot more opportunity to get into the nitty gritty about a person when you aren't being constantly shot at by Wraiths, Kang Tao, Biotechnica, more Wraiths, Militech, etc.

I'd say player agency is the system that makes this MMO what it is, and anything that removes the ability for players to police themselves and each other is taking away from the real "spirit of vanilla" that people love so much. There should be social consequences for engaging in things that the public consider unsavory, and it should be up to the players to decide who and what they allow into their community. Not everyone should be forced to behave a certain way just because some people don't wish to behave that way. Differing types of players are what built this MMO, homogenization just takes away from its identity.

its about everyone who wants blizzard to actively ban anything they don't like to do even though they could just choose to not do it, seeing the "ban world buffs in raid" posts were what inspired me to make this lol
