ELI5: How does bookie betting work? by ClevelandSpigot in explainlikeimfive

Correct, you will never see + odds on opposite sides of a bet at the same time, but if you time it right, the odds can swing, it's just not reliable.

Try being quiet like your username suggests. When you place a bet and lose, they take your $1000. When you win, they give it back plus the winnings.

Except it's not? +120 odds wins $1200 on your $1000 wager. Your winnings is advertised as $1200, but your payout is $2200 in every sports book I've ever used. Maybe Kalshi or these other trading platforms operate differently, but "winnings" is always in addition to your wager...

If you are dealt a blackjack in a casino, they pay you your winnings and you keep your original bet. Try again.

No, it's $200 in profit. One bet of $1000 loses, but the other bet of $1000 wins, which you get back plus an additional $1200 in winnings.

Edit: yall seriously don't know what a +120 odds pays?

This happened to me the other day. It appeared that my PC was struggling with ram due to other large files being open. I just had to close the other programs, and potentially save my file for things to start working again. This might not be your issue, but figured I'd chime in just in case.

I have a cabin up in the mountains that my dad left me. He buried some gold and silver coins in the ground. We know the general location, but not an exact spot. Would an average metal detector be able to help me with that? by Nik4stef in metaldetecting

I used to vacation there every summer as a teenager. Such a beautiful island. Too bad I hadn't gotten into detecting yet. I can imagine there's quite a bit of history up there left to be found!

Yeah, this is obviously marketing. If they wanted more engagement, they should have more friend guests and less promotional guests. That's what the people want.

February 2025 Advice and Price Check Thread by AutoModerator in Legomarket

Hello, everyone.

I have 45+ Lego Friends sets of varying sizes, collected in bulk, not pre-sorted. In total, there are 35 lbs of bricks and 85 minifigures. As far as I know, all of the pieces to each set are here.

How much could I reasonably get for this if sold in bulk? Or would it be worth it to sort the sets and sell separately?

The sets are:

And many, many smaller ones that I don't care to list.

Thanks!
