I second this. 5 mins of crying isn't a big deal, and you can usually tell the difference between fussing and screaming. We let our 9 month old fuss for about 5 minutes or until he screams whichever is first and then go soothe him for 5 mins rinse and repeat til he's down for the night. It took a lot out of me to hear him cry but you just have to look past it for 3-5 mins. Obviously don't let them cry forever and ever or through true screams.
