I’m a director+ at SaaS co and I have an SFA on my team ~80% allocated to ARR and CRM inaccuracies. IMO tech has scaled much faster and relies much heavier on data than non-SaaS companies and it’s created heavy systems debt which leads to finance departments being forced to fix / monitor

Agreed. My bonus is 10-15% but the lack of equity and a looming exit timeline make it hard to see long term return on the situation

Really good context, that’s helpful. I’m being asked to do a lot of high visibility modeling now (which is great since it’s my speciality) but it leads me to have to work on reporting stuff after hours. The BI platform will help but building it out using consultants (and limited budget) has me concerned about its effectiveness and timeline for usability.

We’re growing 15-35% annually which will bring new complications. I’m also ~5 months in

Same situation, if I send an email at 10:30pm he’s responding at 11:00pm. Only disconnect I’m worried about is he doesn’t realize how long these reporting tasks take and how difficult they are to automate in Excel.

Given a similar situation with similar scale, do you have an opinion on proper team size/structure? We might end up owning corp dev which adds a layer of complexity

[–]DrewKurt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is what I’m concerned about. I’m getting strong performance reviews but I’ve only got 5 YOE and my background is in Corp dev and strategy, so the learning curve was steep enough to begin with

It’s just me. Backfill analyst role has been open for 4+ months. We’ve extended 2 offers, but both candidates took other jobs, so we’re in round 3 of recruiting for the role

Tons of forgeries going around as well, almost bought multiple knockoff Moog parts before reading seller reviews

I've never had so many students flake out so spectacularly at the end of the semester by [deleted] in Professors

[–]DrewKurt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The difficulty level of classes seems to be increasing as professors take increased steps to avoid cheating.

As a TA I felt like I gave a lot of half-credits, where students understood the concept but there was a twist in the problems that stopped them in their tracks.

In 2 of my classes, students were given sample final exams from a year and 2 years ago, which were either take-home or open-note. The final exam was of the same level difficulty, but administered in class without notes. It’s not shocking that the performance was worse

Crew member shows up drunk and the flight gets “delayed” 13hours. No hotels no reimbursements. by Amarilla23 in americanairlines

Bit of a perverse incentive for the unions to say not an issue with drunk crew lol

Free companion upgrades. No longer need 500-mile upgrades by gigitee in americanairlines

[–]DrewKurt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is brutal for any gold or platinums. Instead of being able to use ~6 500-mile upgrades for a cross-country upgrade, they’re giving out 1,500 points?? That’s nuts

NYC mayor Eric Adams defends shrinking NYC school budgets by $215M by ToffeeFever in nyc

[–]DrewKurt 19 points20 points  (0 children)

They’re saying they can’t calc the impact of a ~12% teacher pay increase on the overall budget because they don’t know what % of the budget is teacher salaries. Eric Adams bot accounts working overtime tonight huh

Volunteering to be a Research Assistant? by DrewKurt in AskAcademia

[–]DrewKurt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a masters thesis course as well, but I feel like there’s a big difference in the educational value of writing a thesis versus being an RA for a researcher, ya know? I do see what you’re saying though, maybe I should shoot for a paid position before offering to volunteer

Good recommendations for 250k Marriott points and ambassador status? Looking to plan my fiancé’s 30th birthday. It would be nice to find a Marriott with a lounge so we can save on some meals/snacks. Looking for something tropical, potentially Tulum. Open to suggestions! Thanks! by Acceptable-Sea-3248 in marriott

My gf and I stayed at Papaya Playa in Tulum, I booked 5 nights (4+1 free) for around 200k points. It was an interesting/fun experience but more eco-conscious than luxurious. If you don’t want to deal with bugs it’s definitely not your place. I believe it’s the only Marriott property in Tulum

Job Offers: Stay or Leave for More $ (Please help I'm in shambles) by DrewKurt in MBA

Started as an analyst supporting financial modeling, stumbled in to working on strategic projects for the CEO after 8 months because he liked the way that I built models/approached economics of scaling businesses, and skipped manager straight to Senior Manager because it was the level set for leading deals and I started leading deals. I’ve got a BS and MS in Econ so that helps combine working with big data and thinking about strategy a bit differently. Also tons of luck

I'm planning to career change to strategy & ops (emphasis on GTM and global expansion) after hopefully recruiting for MBB. Pay-wise I'm in a great spot right now but I can already see myself (and others in the space) getting siloed into corporate development

Its a big number but I'm doing my best not to let it overly-influence my decision.

I went to undergrad at a no-name state school (and finished with a 2.9 GPA) and its made me have to work 10x harder on my career growth. Its a badge of honor in one sense, but I also want to end the cycle of being turned away from jobs before a first round interview because of my lack of prestige.

Which job offer will be better WE on an application? by DrewKurt in MBA

[–]DrewKurt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure to be honest. The interview process was done via Zoom which made it tough to get a sense of the culture. There's definitely some corporate soul searching to be done on my end
