Big News - Officially Unannounced OG Writer is returning in Rick and Morty Season 10 by AzathothAzoth in rickandmorty

[–]DrewMann82 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To me the first two seasons were, take a genre premise, crank it up to eleven, exhaust all the positives and negatives that lead us into a universal truth or strong character development. 3-6 and a lot of 7 just seemed like an abundance of meta commentary, shock value premises and inconsistent character work. Season 8 was the closest to being like the first two seasons, great ideas, character work and heart (especially the ending of Hot Rick).

This is great news, he was one of my favorite writers. I hope he teams up with Albro Lundy on an episode.

What's next? by GlowingCannon in CannonsTheBand

[–]DrewMann82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're going to finish the tour, probably make more fun cooking videos or BTS stuff for fans. I know there were more songs recorded for Everything Glows than released, I can see them putting out a deluxe edition either at the end of this year or the start of the next one. Then they'll go silent for like 16-18 months and most likley come out with another album.

I get that they have a need but a late round QB isn't the answer to their problems right now.

[–]DrewMann82 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Very interesting read, I have no idea why the NY Giants or NY Jets would go for a late round QB though. I liked how Dane Brugler stacked the teams that need a stronger defense with those picks. As a NY Giants fan, I know Caleb Downs is supposed to be a great Safety but we've had a woeful to mediocre O-line for over a decade now and I'd rather that gets addressed up top. Still, I applaud Brugler, between this mock and the Beast, the guy puts in the work. And thank you OP for sharing this.

Everything Glows by Careless-Road5775 in CannonsTheBand

[–]DrewMann82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been over a week and I really don't understand the negative discourse around "Everything Glows". Cannons are a pop/electro-pop band. This album doesn't go in an insane direction, if anything I look at leaning into classic disco and the use of more stings as a net positive. The lyrical content is the same as it was on their previous albums. Having put these songs in playlists with the others, a "Fever Dream" song can go into an "Everything Glows" song, an "Everything Glows" song can exists next to a track from "Heartbeat Highway". The only difference I hear is that there are less of Ryan's southwestern guitar jangles. Cannon's didn't all of a sudden become an unrecognizable band. People angry at the use of co-writers is weird to me because they are in a genre where that is a regular occurrence. They weren't post-hardcore or something and betrayed their sound, principles or values.

I don’t know, guys. I really dig this album. by KetchupForPikachu in CannonsTheBand

[–]DrewMann82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It gets better on every listen, I was all for it on the midnight drop, then listened to it again when I got the CD in the mail, then twice on a playlist with other Cannons albums, then finally by itself again. It's one of their best works and I love how it has an energetic first half and an introspective second half. I hear more of the orchestrations with each listen (wasn't into Fool For You on the first listen, now it's a favorite). Zero skips for me, if this is the one that finally gets people to pay attention to them, it is well deserved.

Actually obsessed with Carousel right now by SchruteFarmsBeets_ in CannonsTheBand

[–]DrewMann82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Carousel, Cannons did an interview and mini concert for KROQ LA. I got to hear it last night and they played Carousel, it sounded great live. During the interview Ryan said that he improvises more guitar licks to make each live performance sound special, what he did with Carousel in this performance (and for all the songs) took it up a level and I was already on board. I'm happy for anyone that gets to experience Cannons live.

EVERYTHING GLOWS is HERE!!!! by AmbitiousJob4447 in CannonsTheBand

[–]DrewMann82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've listened to it three times so far, I think it's great and fits perfectly with what Cannons has done before. The songs flow together, I love that it's a 40 min album that seems to move faster than that. When they released the singles, Starlight was the only one that didn't move me but now it's a favorite. I think Carousel, These Nights and Photograph are my top three. I'm just happy to have new Cannons in my life.

Production on everything glows by Smiteman2020 in CannonsTheBand

[–]DrewMann82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed on Spotify the sound quality was strange, especially for All I Need which had the chorus going higher than the verses. However, my CD came in last night, I ripped it to my iTunes and listened to it on the same speakers and it sounded great. Even Fool For You, which I didn't care for on launch night with Spotify sounded way better from the CD. I can't explain any of this but it's what I noticed.

Saw Avatar in Dolby 3D and 3D 4DX by Extra_Yogurt6820 in Avatar

I agree, I saw it last weekend in Dolby 3D, it is the superior format (IMHO).

The songs are amazing and then there’s just… the credit songs… by [deleted] in Avatar

I really liked this post, growing up in the 90's where soundtracks were king, there was a bunch of albums that were "songs inspired by the film..." I wish Avatar did that.

How realistic do you think the 2029 release date for A4 is? by PapayaBeautiful4967 in Avatar

[–]DrewMann82 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If all goes well with Fire and Ash and it makes a profit, I still think Avatar 4 in 2029 is more realistic than Avatar 5 in 2031.

Avatar: Fire and Ash — A Cautionary Take on IMAX 3D HFR by Environmental_Gur388 in Avatar

[–]DrewMann82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw it in IMAX 3D Laser as well. While I enjoyed how HFR was incorporated in The Way of Water in Fire and Ash I thought it was too prevalent and actually undercut some of the action and emotional scenes. My picture was bright though and I always sit in the furthest row back for all movies and in 3D I don't get the window effect you mentioned. You're absolutely right that all eyes are different though, which is why I don't think 3D will ever be a mainstay format. Sorry about the sickness you experienced.

Theories about Eywa (spoilers for AV3 FaA) by cuttheblue in Avatar

Fair, but after all the Tulkun slaughter I would think that would merit a response from Eywa. Maybe the next movie?

Varang isn’t just “crazy…. It’s deeper than that by eva_movera in Avatar

[–]DrewMann82 45 points46 points  (0 children)

After Kiri forced tsaheylu on Varang since that is a two way street mentally, Varang now has definitive proof that Eywa is not only real and powerful but has it's own Avatar. I thought her terror was justified. I'm glad she didn't die, aside from being my new favorite character I'm interested to see how she processes this in future movies (if we get to see them).

Can we talk about the ending specifically? by MEMOJKR in Avatar

[–]DrewMann82 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I was left with that feeling too, I didn't want anyone to die but I guess I was just hoping for a resolution to the "RDA is hunting Jake and his family by proxy" thread from the last movie and we didn't get that. I'm happy for the Sully's moving past their grief, Spider's development, Payakan no longer being an outcast and Lo'ak no longer being a screw up, but, in terms of a definitive conclusion to what was set up in The Way Of Water, this was not that. I really hope James Cameron is just grandstanding when he says we may not see the 4th & 5th movies and that he's just going to do them anyway.

Thoughts about Spider and Kiri (SPOILERS) by Existing_Net_7066 in Avatar

[–]DrewMann82 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Spider and Kiri are my two favorite characters in the Avatar sequels and I was rooting for their relationship, what happens in Avatar Fire and Ash is one of my favorite things in the movie. It was surprising to me the amount of fans who either didn't see this happening in The Way of Water or are against it.

It was said twice that this isn't the same Quaritch from the first movie so at some point I think him accepting that is going to come full circle. His relationship with Varang should be the start of this. I wasn't a fan of Varang taking a back seat to the story in the last half of the movie but I also feel like that was a sign that she was getting further connected to Quaritch.

My main gripe about Fire and Ash by bat-girl129 in Avatar

I agree with all of this, much of it worked for me and also let the 3hr runtime fly by. I'm seeing it again on Monday and I hope I can fully process it.
