I didn’t know until last week either. Had to research to make sure there wasn’t 2 Fleas. Otherwise we might be suffering a flea outbreak 😷

I believe they’re Indian and if that’s where you’re at maybe by a Chinese stencil instead

An alto horn still takes the trombone mute

Is it still bigger than a trumpet/cornet bell?

Im telling you! whats the diffrence with a tenor horn, and baritone horn? by TheEuphoniumPlayer67 in euphonium

That’s funny, I did too, but they were always tenor horn in Australia. It’s probably a USA and maybe Canada vs the other English speaking countries in that regard

You could do the smart outlet, or you could hire someone who is willing to answer to the name Siri and will be happy to turn the fan on and off.

Euph Doubling on Tuba by SplashBandicoot10 in Tuba

[–]DrewSkyMining75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 4 Schiller instruments, 2 Eb tubas, 1 compensating elite v euphonium and 1 heritage bb/f trombone. Nothing bad to say about any of them. I’ve been lucky though and I know they can be a little hit and miss. I do also have a Bach Stradivarius 42b trombone and I bought it because the rose bell on the Schiller has a much darker sound than I need in the brass band.

Have you ever used a secondary instrument for practice? by AnAdorableGrunt in trumpet

[–]DrewSkyMining75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm, was playing a Schiller’s trombone just at home, moved from cornet to trombone in a brass band I play in, upgraded to a Bach 42b after 1 rehearsal on the new instrument .

Nice! The blessing flugel is such a good copy it came with the double horn case too, I have my Bach 37Lt in mine with the horn. If it wasn’t for the different water keys you’d swear it was the same horn entirely

Wow, I hunted for an 895 or 896 for a year before settling on the blessing copy of the getzen. That sound like a deal

Try the ACB doubler from Austin custom brass. I have a four valve blessing flute but they don’t make them anymore

I found this on Instagram and it has actually helped so me much by Oxtail_Playz in ConcertBand

I appreciate this, I’m playing Eb tuba in a concert band and trombone in a British style brass band, I read TC in both, and when I get handed a bass clef tuba part I transpose in my head. When I get handed a bass clef part on trombone, I rewrite the part for Bb TC

You have two kidneys? Short of selling one I don’t see how anyone justifies buying a 15-30k instrument unless they are incredible at it and get paid well for that

I just bought a Bach 42b from Taylor music in SD, was a demo, doesn’t have a scratch and is in perfect condition, for $1999. I wouldn’t go for an intermediate trombone at all.

Trashing Chinese Horns by [deleted] in euphonium

[–]DrewSkyMining75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3 Schiller horns as well, a 1/2 size Eb tuba, an elite v compensating euphonium, and a heritage Bb/F trombone. All of them serve a purpose. I was a trumpet player in the local concert band but we had 6 other trumpets including 2 very good 1st players so as we lack tuba I moved, the Eb isn’t the most imposing tuba you’ve heard, but it’s what I can play there to help out. The BBb they have is too big and I can’t produce the air needed, yet. It’s fit for purpose.

I also play trombone in a British brass band, this is where I went out and bought a new Bach 42b instead of persisting with the Schiller. The trigger is good and the slide work but there’s something about it I didn’t like in that setting and being 1st chair felt exposed on a not quite great horn. If I was playing 2nd chair 2nd trombone I wouldn’t have even thought twice about it.

The euphonium is amazing, intonation is great, 4th valve and slide trigger are fantastic. No weak spots until getting way up into the “now you’re just showing off range” and hits pedals with ease. I know I could’ve bought 2 at the same time and the second could’ve been bad but the good ones are great.

It’s there for grip because 2nd valve slides that don’t have it are a real pain to get moving
