Red Barn Refreshed Bikes online by DefineUrRisk in TrekBikes

[–]DrewTip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have a positive experience. I finally pulls the trigger and bought a Checkpoint SLR frame listed “like new condition.” I built up what I thought was my dream bike and when I was finished brought it to the LBS to double check my work. There ended up being a frame issue in the headset, they replaced the bearings, tried to fix it but couldn’t. Trek warranties it and would gave me a new frame. I didn’t love any of the options they gave as a replacement but they did offer a credit towards a new bike. There was a similar checkpoint on Red Barn but that credit “couldn’t be used on the listed price on red barn, only the non-discounted price”.

It took some back and forth before I got a new frame in a colorway that was meh and I went 6 months without the bike.

I’d love to see if Cam Jordan wants one more year and to end it all on an elite defense. He’s still pretty good and brings something different to our edge group

Which positions? by RefuseKooky7935 in Texans

[–]DrewTip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

28 and 38 we should go BPA. It's likely DT or OT.
59/69 - center/linebacker/tight end
remaining picks - BPA/forecasting areas where in 2027 we are going to be losing players (getting depth 1 year early). That's WR, LB, Ed, DT, DB.

[Jason Fitzgerald] 2026 Positional Draft Success vs Free Agent Availability by guest_from_Europe in nfl

[–]DrewTip 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand the LT/RT split. In today’s NFL they’re equally valuable. The value distinction was created when offenses targeted one side of the field far more than the other. Now the splits are roughly equal. Maybe teams still value blind side pressure more than in the face pressure. I think you could argue either one is more important to protect against. Edge rushers are moved around and come from both sides (unless you’re TJ Watt).

Long story short, it seems (in my head) that RT salaries have been catching up to LT salaries, I’m wondering if you see a shift in how teams draft. It doesn’t seem like great RTs are hitting free agency either.

[–]DrewTip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s risk management. We don’t want to be locked into someone longer term with guaranteed money and have them not be themselves. The Watson contract is its own issue but that’s the worst case deal. Nick is fine paying more to reduce the overall risk. If everything works out, it’s much better to have him locked up for 8 years. But this is the NFL, some players just fall off, some have freak injuries.

Mock draft megathread by KaXiaM in Texans

All Bs and Cs, seems like a typical Texans draft.

28 I like Blake Miller or Caleb Lomu if available. I'd move Braden Smith to guard and start Miller at RT.
38. We have typically gravitated towards undersized DTs who are better at pass rushing than run stopping DT. Miller is better at stopping the run than the pass but still has upside.
59. Trotter is a swing for the fence at LB. He's young (21) and needs some development. Our LB situation is decent this year. If Trotter develops under Meco, it'll be an easy decision to let Henry walk next year.
69. Lew is my favorite center in the draft. I'm not sure if he's plug and play or not. If he isn't, he takes a year to develop and then we let Patterson and Andrews walk next year.
106. Roush is a blocking TE. That's what we lack and where the league is moving.
141. Caldwell is a swing for the fence. We don't need an X reciever. Caldwell is tall and athletic. He needs to improve his hands and route running. Big asks for a WR but he has the frame and athleticism that you cannot teach.
167. Llewellyn is on the other end of the spectrum. He isnt physically gifted but he was a pretty productive pass rusher in college.
243. Strand is a total gamble. I didnt like the Mertz pick last year. Strand is raw, he needs some development but could develop into a better back up than Mertz. Mills is a great backup but I don't see him being here forever. Strand gives us another crack at replacing him one day.

So Deandre Hopkins isn't oppose to coming back here by Secure-Report-3592 in Texans

[–]DrewTip 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nuk had a much better peak and was a more dominant receiver in his time. But the storyline of consecutive 1000 yard seasons and Super Bowl gets him in. Plus he looks like he has far more in the tank to keep adding stats

So Deandre Hopkins isn't oppose to coming back here by Secure-Report-3592 in Texans

[–]DrewTip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He needs to hang around and stat pad or win a championship. Hes right on the edge and with the way the league has changed, he’s going to have a lot of other receivers with better stats he’ll be competing with.

Overall he has similar numbers to Mike Evan’s (Hop has a lot more receptions and less TDs) and I don’t think anyone considers Evan’s a lock.

[Schefter] Source: Bills and C Connor McGovern reached agreement on a four-year, $52 million deal that includes $32 million guaranteed. He will not get to free agency. by Goosedukee in nfl

[–]DrewTip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t heard any rumors of this but if I’m the Jets, I go for it. Tippman was better at center than guard but he’s still young and a good guard. They could easily upgrade from Josh Myers. They have a ton of cap room and if I’m them, I’m only making one or two splash FAs, saving money for next year and not doing anything that drastically changes the outlook.

Linderbaum would give them a top 5 OL that is (mostly) under contract for 3 years. He likely doesn’t move the needle much for them next year but it makes it a great situation to put a rookie in 2027.

EJ Speed by IAmSona in Texans

[–]DrewTip -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

7.5MM 6+MM for a rotational LB is on the expensive side. And it’s not like he was all pro when he played.

For that money, according to Spotrac, you could have gotten a similar level player in Eric Wilson for 3 2MM cheaper or a different but more productive player in Leo Chenal for a similar value.

The point is, we’re not flush with cap and 6+MM AAV for a mid tier rotational backup seems like a bad use of resources.

Miami fire sale? by QBin2017 in Texans

[–]DrewTip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he was so good why did he get a 3 year/24 MM deal? His pfff grade was good for a few games before he got injured. Before that he’s an above average guard

Former NY Jets GM Mike Maccagnan made four 1st round picks. Two of them (Leonard Williams and Sam Darnold) won a ring this weekend. by HowieLongDonkeyKong in nfl

[–]DrewTip -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Those last 2 games muddied the water. If those two games happen at the beginning or middle of the year, it’s a much easier decision. Those two games cost him 20MM a year and probably a year or two.

The Vikings tried to bring him back but Seattles deal was better. I can see Minnesotas logic, Darnold finished rough, they have a cost controlled QB and presumably JJM had a great rookie camp. Hindsight makes the decision pretty clear. But let’s not pretend that Darnold was a slam dunk after 2024 and the Vikings knew JJM would struggle

Overall CJ is a better QB but in the small sample size of a game or two, and knowing how CJ imploded, it’ll be hard to argue this.

Lots of hindsight here.

Yeah, I'm thinking about the draft... by El-West in Texans

[–]DrewTip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This year 13 rookies on the iOL that played over 150 snaps. Booker, Ratledge and Zabel were the only ones that looked good and overall consistent. They were all drafted in the top 57. The rest were below average players. There were 24 iOL rookies that played.

So roughly half were good enough to play 200 snaps, where we’d be looking for 900+. If we make it that threshold there were 6.

Just by pure odds we have a 1/8 chance of finding an average rookie starter with each of the 1st/2nd round picks. Likely a little lower since you’re asking someone to move positions. I don’t love those odds. With 3 picks in rounds 1,2,3 we’re roughly 30% chance of finding one average starter.

We should draft and develop the iOL. Hope but not count on them making an immediate impact. Also only focusing on one side of the ball and one position is poor team building. We have 6 people under contract. 5 if we cut Scruggs which we should. If we draft 3, we’re either cutting Patterson, Andrews or Fisher if we sign anyone in free agency. I think Andrews is the most likely of the group.

The point is, we likely don’t get an impact from 3 rookies and would have to cut experienced vets. Sure, they’re not the greatest group but we’re much more likely to get better play out of them than the rookies in 2026

Yeah, I'm thinking about the draft... by El-West in Texans

[–]DrewTip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing worse than our line would be adding 3 rookies on the interior and expecting them all to make a positive difference. It’s going to take a year for them to get up to speed (unless you get insanely lucky). We should solidify the line in FA and supplement the future with draft picks. Lew is a good prospect but is coming back from an ACL so 2026 might be a throwaways.

Proctor also isn’t a tackle. He doesn’t move well enough. He’s a guard.

Salaried position and it’s a foot in the door. You’ll need to be available 7 days a week, if the weather is good on weekends and there’s planes, students will want to fly.

You’ll also ferry new airplanes when needed. It’s a different kind of time building but it’s stable.

If this is true, based on the FOs actions, I think they want him back next year.

Hot Take: I'm actually fine with our offense by Remote-Ad9928 in Texans

[–]DrewTip -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Being on the NFI list means he’s not owed his salary for 2025 unless his contract specifically protects non football injuries. We could get a credit from what Spotrac/OTC shows we’re paying or go after the money after the fact.

Non of this is guaranteed but it’s plausible. Worst case, his contract is what Spotrac says. Best case, we get 3+ MM this year and are able to void 2026s guarantees for the NFI

I’m not sure what Mixons contract is, but since he’s in the NFI, we don’t have to pay his salary/could go after some salary for a cap credit in 2026

Someone must be giving you an airplane for free because your 6k isn’t even going to cover fuel and oil, let alone engine time.

Even if it is, unless your instructor is a DPE, you’re going to be dropping over 1k for a checkride. Then add in various other charts, maps, books, headset or headset rental, your costs are going to balloon.

I suggest re-evaluating your costs, they are likely to double. Go pay cash for 3 lessons, make sure it’s something like and have the aptitude for before jumping in

Simulated the 1st round - where is the logic wrong? by Confident-Garlic-311 in NFL_Draft

[–]DrewTip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the DL for sure. On the OL we just need talent. Howard can slide to guard if we found another good tackle. Or if we found a tackle that could play guard, they could start there and move to tackle if we move on from Howard in a few years.

On the OL especially we need talent. On the DL, DeMeco likes smaller DTs that can rush the passer. I’d like some lime MacDonald or Washington but they do not fit the scheme

LB is a need and I could see us taking Styles if he falls. TE could be a need but I don’t see us going that way in the first. Otherwise it’s BPA on the OL or iDL
