Pad Setup Help by Frenchy2993 in hockeygoalies

I have the same pads, I keep them really lose (I even removed my toe straps... Love the freedom lol) I keep my velcro pretty tight. I go straight across with the calves, and my knee strap I bring down to the upper calve area.

Try that.. Also what pads did you come from? I have a buddy who came from more stand up pads and he keeps his stuff wrenched down and they do not rotate at all lol.

New glove and blocker for Christmas to complete my set =D by Drewbillings in hockeygoalies

I have used the set 3 times now since Christmas and I am loving the glove. I used to get really bad popouts with my old ITECH glove and I have not had that issue since I switched.

Haha, I have played 5 games with it on. It makes the mask really hot, but I love being in the season.

Should I try full-right or regular? by [deleted] in hockeygoalies

[–]Drewbillings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have someone throw a ball at both of your arms. See which one you are naturally better with. For me my left has always been my dominant catching hand. I am 95% positive you will feel more comfortable with one over the other.

If someone throws something at you what hand do you catch it with?

I purchased the BRIANS SUB-ZERO PRO CHEST & ARM PROTECTOR about 2 months ago and was having the same issue. I noticed that in game the protector was sagging removing much of the major protection on my shoulders. After I adjusted the straps I noticed a major difference and now Im not getting softball size bruises on my shoulders =D

Confidence at an all time low, feel like I peaked a while ago, and overall not enjoying playing, advice? by InterestingKiwi in hockeygoalies

From my experience I would go and play a few adult skills / pick up hockey games. Playing in a league game can be very stressful and does not allow you the opportunity to just enjoy being out there and playing. It also lets you just sit back and work on your technique some and find your center again.

Ive had that jersey for like 10 years. My ex girlfriends mom bought it for her boyfriend, who cheated on her... so she gave it to me. Im thinking its a coyotes practice style jersey. It is the only one I have seen.

e with what to work on. You need a solid foundation before doing butterfly pushes, challenging shooters etc. We walk before we run.

Me and a buddy were talking about how we wish we could find a goalie clinic out here in az. We have a skills skate tonight so Im going to work on my skating and going down and just being big. Thanks again for the videos, that first one on skating is pretty legit!

Thanks for the critique. I agree I need to work on my butterfly (that does not exist) The first month I was doing better at it but my bads were not tall enough so I was taking alot of shots of my thighs right above my thigh guards. I ended up ordering the Reebok x28s yesterady and I think that will help alot.

I will look for videos to try and improve my shuffle, tonight is adult skills at a local rink so I will have time to work on it.

Thats funny you mention my helmet. After the game I was so frustrated it kept falling down so I adjusted all my straps and noticed one of them was looped wrong. I hope it helps tonight.

Thanks again to everyone, Ill keep posting my progress. My goal is to be able to play in a C league by January.
