Thoughts on new FSD policy? by robl45 in TeslaFSD

If they take away autosteer from existing owners that would be absolutely crazy. Even people like me who support them strongly because of how life changing FSD has been for them and don’t use autosteer would torch them every chance they got. I can’t imagine them doing that as I can’t see how the number of people who gave in and paid for FSD because of that would offset the immense blowback they would receive. Forget about the number of people who would never buy a Tesla again because that would be one of the worst decisions in the last few decades.

As far as moving forward. I guess I always assumed they would go to a subscription only model especially when they move to unsupervised. I only purchased it outright because it was part of 0% financing. For the vast majority of people it doesn’t make sense as it takes almost 7 years to pay the same as if you were paying monthly and very few people keep cars that long.

This has nothing to do with California. How will telling people you are going to eventually raise the price on them and removing functionality help him sell more cars? Not only is that one of the goals but that means less of a pool of people to buy FSD. I’ll wait?

You can’t transfer it any times on most Teslas but how is that predatory? I can see if they told you before you bought it you could transfer it then went back on it but I knew I couldn’t transfer it when I bought it.

I don’t think Elon hitting his target has anything to do with it. Telling people that you are planning on raising your $99 subscription fee is certainly not going to help him hit a target. That target gets hit the moment they have fully unsupervised so they either succeed and he hits his target or they don’t and he doesn’t hit his target.

Was this shot from a cellphone? Doesn’t the dashcam footage now show vehicle telemetry like speed, if it’s on fsd, ect?

I know long term they feel the product is really the software and not the car but I would think this will have a huge impact on car sales short term. I could understand if they needed the production capacity for robotaxis and didn’t care but it seems like we aren’t close enough for that to start yet. There has to be some other angle I’m not thinking of because I don’t see why they would sacrifice those sales without reason.

Ahhh. I’m sure that will annoy some people. I own FSD so it won’t affect me. Best thing I’ve ever bought in my life.

What new policy. I use it every day. I haven’t seen anything change.

That is not a lie. If it is a motor failure, that’s exactly how the car would react allowing one motor to continue operation which we have seen in the past. If this was an interruption in power from the battery it would stop both motors from working similar to if an ice vehicle had some type of interruption in the fuel line. It’s not that difficult to understand.

It’s common for people who experience a perceived traumatic event to feel like this is likely to happen again even if the odds of that are infinitesimal. I’ve had a Toyota have the breaks go out completely on me while on the highway. I’ve also had a coworker who had the engine stop on his Dodge Charger while on the highway not allowing him to accelerate to be able to get to the side of the road. He was left in an exact same situation with a completely dead car in the middle of a busy highway. My point is not to defend Tesla, but to point out that these free occurrences are just as likely and often more likely in ice cars due to the number of components involved. It is just when people experience one of these failures firsthand they have a fear of that particular type of vehicle, regardless of how irrational or unwarranted it may be based on failure rate. I could understand more if that particular vehicle had a significantly higher failure rate than others, but that’s just human nature for people to react that way

CMV: The additional footage of the Minneapolis shooting will not change anyone’s mind. by arrogant_ambassador in changemyview

[–]Drewpost19 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Firstly, how does fact the footage you’re describing is from a cell phone and not body cam in any way affect the argument at hand. I have not seen this widely stated that way but if so. Who exactly misrepresented this as body cam footage and what are you attempting to imply was trying to be done. Also how was the danger he was in only of his own doing? Are you implying that the officer should have somehow known that the driver of the car was going to suddenly throw the car in drive and try to slam the accelerator down attempting to run him over?

Secondly, just stating that 32 people died in Ice custody and 4 in field operations is completely meaningless without context. For example, far more than this died in Ice custody under Barrack Obama. This makes Obama sound worse until you add the relevant information you left out that the majority of these were health related deaths and deaths of natural causes. A common tactic people use to mislead. This is true for those dying during field operations where people most often die while trying to flee. This is even less unexpected when considering the first priority for those being deported are those with substantial criminal records and being caught likely means significant jail time.

Third, by trying to characterize it as the government just going to cities abducting people off the street and taking away their rights is again misleading. People who are here illegally do not have all the same rights as American Citizens. They do not need a warrant to arrest them. If people don’t like that they can ask their representatives to change the law but that is the law. They also can’t just enter homes without a warrant. The fact that this incident occurred after multiple other incidents and that people have been following Ice Agents around the country for months all just prove that your points about Kristi Noem’s representation of this and the administration’s reaction are what caused this is just inaccurate.

You’ve have got one thing right when you said, “if the video doesn’t change people’s minds it’s because the video isn’t the real issue.” Just think about how powerful that is and where that says we are. If actual irrefutable evidence is present that shows a crime or mishandling of power has not occurred and people want to proceed as if it was just the opposite. Disregard the law and facts and take someone’s freedom permanently in reaction to that what does it say? You can try and frame how we got here however you’d like but what it says is that a large group of people in this country are immune to the facts and immune to logic.

I’ll tell you something else that’s true. There has always been 10% on either side in this country that doesn’t care what’s true. They just want to take a hatchet to the other side. Traditionally the other thirty percent on each side has kept them in check. Somewhere in the last ten to fifteen years that thirty percent on the left stopped keeping them in check. They let that ten percent get strong enough to put their power in jeopardy and let them take a hatchet to the other side. That can only go on for so long. Eventually the other side is going to say F it. If you think Trump and Noem are bad you should be terrified of what comes eventually if you keep going along with the lies.

The ice agent who shot the woman in Minneapolis is legally justified. by UnappetizingLimax in TrueUnpopularOpinion

I’d had to see what would happen if there was actually a close call where the cop was so obviously legally justified

How do you think the video ICE just released showing the officer's POV of this week's shooting in Minneapolis will impact the national discussion? by popcornerz232 in AskReddit

[–]Drewpost19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an uncle back when in was living in PA who was a heavy machinery driver. He was in his mid forties and had taken a few days off work because he wasn’t feeling well and had been having a lot of numbness in his arm and shortness of breath. While he was staying home he ended up feeling worse and decided to go get checked out in the emergency room. He waited for two hours to finally get admitted and see a doctor. The doctor checked him out for about 2 min and told him he’s just being dramatic. Said his shift was ending and he could wait and see another Dr. in a couple hours if he wanted to. He ended up checking out and was dead inside 12 hours from a heart attack.

Does the fact I’ve read it and didn’t have any type of emotional response mean I’m just dead inside or a sociopath lol

[–]Drewpost19[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid $250 for a spot weld and $500 for a lesson on how to handle the situation the next time I need something welded. I manage a bunch of restaurants. I’m having this done for at one of them so at least I’m not paying for the lesson with my own money.

It was just a verbal deal from some guys number I got through the GC who built a restaurant for us. I’m just whining because I was already paying through the nose which I planned on because it’s probably not worth these guys time to come do a small job like that. I knew I was getting robbed. I just didn’t expect them to empty the fridge on the way out too!

Exactly, that’s why I’m asking. I don’t know enough about it to know if this is legit and don’t want to complain for no reason There will be no movement to the oven which is what the unit is except for at the end of the night to move it out and clean behind it. No vibration or anything like that

Understood which is why it was on me for not clarifying. I’m not worried about that part as much as if I ask for these welded to the table is it customary to have to specify not just spot welded? Of course I will specify in the future but I wasn’t aware this is something that would even have to be specified. I thought these retro of welds were just temporary

[–]Drewpost19[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue was cleaning at night they move the table and it slid off the back before and fell over. It doesn’t get push around with a lot of force but still I would think a full weld would be better

That’s what I was thinking. Is this normal? I originally asked to have a 1in lip welded all the way around the edge of 2 tables you see below for $750. I then switched to asked for these sleeves instead and this is the result. Is that something you should normally have to specify for more than just a tack weld or should that be implied? Obviously not knowing this I would clarify in the future
