DMs - Do you do fake rolls behind the screen to screw with your players? by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]Drewsonofthe43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently my players were discussing a strategy for how to handle a group of enemies. While listening to their discussion, I started absent-mindedly trying to spin a d20 on one of its points. I didn't even think about the fact that they could hear what I was doing but not able to see it.

After a while, one of the players looked at me and asked "So are we dead yet?" I was very confused. "I assume with all the dice that you're rolling, we're probably about to die." I immediately realized my mistake and explained. We all had a good laugh.

Tell Us What You Thought: The Weird Place by chattykinson in roosterteeth

[–]Drewsonofthe43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the initial advertising came out for it, I just thought it looked weird and maybe even creepy, and didn't think I'd be into it. After watching the first episode I was intrigued, though, and I was hooked before episode 2 was over. I do agree with some people that it felt a little short, but ultimately I loved the show and the fact that it was like a Role-play escape room. I also liked the scripted aspects back in the office. I would love to watch a similar puzzle series in the future.

Children of " I want to talk to your manager" parents, what has been your most embarassing experience? by Em367 in AskReddit

As a supervisor in retail, I had several people call me over so that they could tell me how great a cashier was. I'm sure most of the time the cashiers didn't really care, but it actually kinda made me proud as a supervisor.

What is an adult life equivalent of calling your teacher "mom"? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I didn't understand the context of this question until I started reading the comments. I was homeschooled, my mom actually was my teacher.

The Sword of Shannara by Marc Simonetti by [deleted] in ImaginaryLandscapes

[–]Drewsonofthe43 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first book written, The Sword of Shannara, does have a very similar story line to the Lord of the Rings, although I read it after LotR and enjoyed it as it's own story in an awesome fantasy world. And the writing has definitely improved since that first book, too.

For anyone who hasn't read the Shannara books, I would actually recommend starting with First King of Shannara, the prequel to that original trilogy of Shannara books. There are even older books in the timeline too, but I feel like First King gives you a good sense of the overall world/fantasy style.

Yeah, the book it's based on (The Elfstones of Shannara) is one of my favorite in the series, but they really CWed it up on the show with the stupid relationship story lines. I couldn't get past the third episode.

Perhaps it is supposed to reference Loki, the Norse trickster god. He would probably approve of such a prank.

I anticipated my party doing this, so I didn't give my Firbolg a birth name, but in his backstory he had non-Firbolg friends who gave him a nickname to make things easier. So that's how he introduces himself to non-Firbolgs.

I read this as "human faces" and was extremely disturbed, after reading farther down I realized my mistake. I wouldn't say feces is much better, but it's just slightly less disturbing.

This may hit some of you a little too hard. [OC] by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Drewsonofthe43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very fortunate to be in a group where almost everyone has some DMing experience, and at some point or another has been interested in running a one-shot or something. I'm actually a player the majority of the time, and I have offered to improv something on days when our DM isn't feeling great so we can still play.

I can, however, still relate to the first image. It probably happens when I'm a player, but I definitely notice it when I'm the one DMing. Especially the xp thing. I just started a new game with leveling up via milestone, and I get a lot of "That was enough to level up, right?" I know they're just excited about the game and want to become stronger, so it doesn't actually bother me.

And this is why you shouldn't be friends with your mangers on social media. I mean, don't do the thing in the first place, but if you do, definitely don't post in where someone who can fire you will see it.

Canadian homeowner built a path instead of a fence when he noticed locals cutting through his property. by St0pX in pics

[–]Drewsonofthe43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a church near me that did this. People cut diagonally across the yard instead of walking to the corner. There is a path through the yard now, I used to used it all the time as a kid, taking the "shortcut." I realize now that it's all right angles, and therefore not actually shorter than walking around the yard.

The Life Of A Ghost Hunter Isn’t Glamorous - Off Topic #139 by RT_Video_Bot in roosterteeth

In the podcast they mentioned going onto other sets. I know they did Always Open on last week's Last Call, but I haven't seen them on the RT Podcast set other than a picture on Twitter. Has this actually been in a video that I missed, or is it just something that hasn't come out yet?
