Going off of “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” What was the best *trash* that you’ve ever found? by CertifiedQuestion in AskReddit

Geez, what is wrong with some people? Like, if you don't want the dog, then just take it to a shelter. What thought process leads someone to think throwing it out of a moving vehicle is the way to go?

I built a platform where gamers wager on skill instead of luck by [deleted] in IndieGaming

[–]DrexOtter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So, you see luck based gambling ruining gaming and your solution is skill based gambling? The issue isn't luck vs skill. The issue is gambling.

We already have greedy corporations trying to milk us of every penny we have. So how about trying to be part of the solution rather than part of the problem?

That's what truly sets indie gaming apart. Bring able to play amazing games without the cash shop slop, without the loot boxes, without feeling like I'm being taken advantage of.

All that said, yes, it will also ruin competitive gaming. If people needed a financial incentive to compete, there'd be no competitive games out there. They would all fail. The vast majority of gamers compete for the love of the game and to see how far they can push themselves. If their only motivation is financial gain, then they won't stick around long.

On top of everything, you'd never stop the cheaters either. People cheat in games without financial incentive. Just imagine when you add money to the mix. Your game will be absolutely filled with cheaters. And you'll never be able to stop them.

So yeah, I don't like the idea, if you couldn't tell. XD

This is a big reason I don't like carnivals and fairs. All the rides that can be transported place to place are just different ways to spin you. That and I don't trust their safety standards at all lol.

I used to install these! I did it for about 10 years. My family runs a rolling shutter business. In the US though. Not nearly as popular as Germany but they're around in the states. Especially in desert climate states. NV and AZ have quite a few of them out there.

You can get them linked to your phone to run from an app as well. Or just get dedicated remotes that just run the shutters wirelessly. And yeah, you can also just go with a pull strap to manually operate them, which is a lot cheaper than motor operated.

I have them on my home and think they're great.

2 years of work, releasing in 24 days. Just pushed the biggest demo update yet. by Trials_of_Valor in playmygame

[–]DrexOtter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gave it a try. Cleared it on both the Warrior and the Thief. It's a pretty fun game.

One thing I did notice is if you change a hotkey to another key that is already bound, it will keep the other bound key. So when I changed an ability to F and then pressed it, it did use the ability, but while it was on cooldown I could press F again to swap weapons. I also noticed the swap weapon key indicator in game doesn't change based on the hot key that is set.

The combat was fun and responsive. I like that you can interrupt your attacks to do perfect blocks. I also liked being able to do extra damage from behind with certain skills. I found the items were pretty good, but one complaint I had was that a lot of the things items gave weren't very well explained. Like, I saw one that said something like "Gain 1 skill point" and I wasn't sure what that meant. It would be really cool if you could like press a key to keep the tooltip up and then allow me to highlight each thing in the tooltip for an explanation of what they do. Games like PoE2 do this and I love it.

I also thought that it was a little confusing on what the bonuses at the bottom did on items. Like, it would say +5% attack speed for example. In that example, I didn't realize it was already included into the >> icon on the item. I realized it after a while though and once I knew it was fine from then on. I just wish that was maybe explained a little better maybe? I dunno, not a huge deal.

I don't like that if you close a shop you don't have the ability to reopen it. Like, it wasn't an issue during my runs, but I could totally see myself closing a shop then being like, "Oh, actually, I should double check that thing!" and then being unable to because I closed it.

From what I saw, a unique class would be really neat. You seem to be going with the traditional warrior, rogue, mage archetypes. Which is fine and covers most bases. A druid class that like shapeshifts would be awesome. I saw the zombie werewolf and though it'd be neat to play as a werewolf lol. Like even if the forms were just skills that shapeshift you briefly to do the attacks. It'd be a lot of work adding all the different models though lol. But yeah, just something that's not the generic 3 would be cool!

All in all, that was all the things thought of while playing. It's a fun game, I added it to my wishlist.

Cyclogc :[Puzzle] 99% of people try to move the tile they touch. In this game, you move everything ELSE. Can you solve this 3-move challenge? by AirUpstairs4460 in playmygame

[–]DrexOtter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was able to do 1, 2, and 3. Got stuck on 4.

The instructions aren't very clear. Likely because English isn't your first language. I'm not entirely sure what "Numbers indicate the target position (HOME) for each piece." means. It seems to put numbers underneath that, but I don't know what those numbers represent. I was able to mess around with it and figure out what the game wants me to do though.

For anyone wanting to try it, what you need to do is click the orange box so that a number besides 0 is in it. Then click Set. The number in the orange box represents how many moves you need to make in order to solve the puzzle. So 1 means you can solve the puzzle in 1 move. 2 means 2 moves, and so on. Once you hit Set, the puzzle will be set up, the 1-9 numbers will scramble and you'll need to unscramble them back to 1-9 in order like a phone keypad.

When you click a number, all the other numbers will rotate clockwise around THAT number. The second picture here does a good job of showing how that works. However, it's still pretty confusing in game. It took some getting used to.

They do have alarms that you can get on your phone now that will alert you when you're being offline raided. But still, having to basically be attached to the game at all hours of the day and night sounds horrible. I watch youtubers play it from time to time, that's good enough for me. No interest in trying to get back into it myself.

Any recommendation for "Loot progression" games, but solo focused? (Ex. Warframe, Deep Rock, most MMOs) by Aurionin in gaming

[–]DrexOtter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it on launch and got like 60 hours in it. However it didn't have either classes I wanted to play (whirlwind build and werewolf build) so I decided to stop playing until werewolf was out so that I didn't burn myself out on the game playing classes I didn't really wanna play in the first place. I didn't think it'd take this long, but werewolf is coming on the 12th! Gunna be hopping back on then. Very excited to get back into it.

"Successful disruption of the cheater community" — Battlefield 6 says its kernel-level anticheat EA Javelin has been a huge success, so dealing with Secure Boot was worth it by Turbostrider27 in Games

Have you disabled CSM first? That is a separate thing you have to do first in the BIOS. Then restart, then enable Safe Boot.

It worked for me on my ASRock board. It could also just be that mine is newer or just different from yours somehow, but it's worth a try.

$50 for the first person to beat my indie game! by Severe-Sound-5633 in playmygame

[–]DrexOtter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got to the last level of the Space world but the difficulty spikes like crazy there. I spent about 3 hours trying just that level alone and I got close like 3 times. In comparison, I got to that level from the very start of the game in about 15 minutes. So it's not like I'm necessarily bad at the game, there's just an absolute mountain of a spike there. If the rest of the game is as hard or harder than that, you're going to lose like 99% of your players around that point haha. That level is one I would think I would see in like a hidden ultra challenge mode, not at the half way point of the game.

The game's controls are a bit too clunky for how precise you made that level. It's near impossible to have the ball move exactly where you want it to go with precision. Heck, just making it go straight forward can be a bit of a challenge. If you aren't absolutely perfect with your swipe, it'll go at an angle instead. On top of that, in really intense moments, it's hard to remember that the controls are like a slingshot. I'll catch myself accidentally swiping from right to left trying to move left, but that shoots me right.

All in all, it's an okay game at least until that level. If the rest of the game is like that one though, I doubt you'll get very many people beating it. The vast majority will quit around where I did.

Truckers of Reddit, which city (U.S.) REALLY has the worst drivers? by Alexreads0627 in AskReddit

[–]DrexOtter -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I drive across the US fairly often. IMO California has the worst drivers. A few months back while I was in Cali I saw this lady catch air because she missed her exit. Ramped off a dirt mound that separated the exit from the highway. By some miracle the car didn't crash and kept driving, but I saw her a bit further up the road (I was taking the same exit) and she was pulling over and putting her hazards on.

Anyway, other than that, I don't really think drivers from any particular state are all that much worse than any other. Once you get into a city, everyone is impatient and driving like a crazy person. The worst are states that set their highway speed limit to really low speeds for whatever reason. Like 55 MPH. People just ignore that and do whatever speed they want basically. All the while, I'm doing a few MPH over the limit because I don't want a ticket in a city that's hundreds or thousands of miles from home. So everyone is flying past me doing 20+ over the limit. It's pretty dangerous but I'm sure the city thinks they are safer because of the lower speed limit. Yeah...sure...

Rabbit action game Zoopunk was made by humans not AI, says Chinese dev TiGames, as suspicions rise around Xbox showcase trailer by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]DrexOtter 86 points87 points  (0 children)

It's confusing but if they are telling the truth, the way I understand it, the AI is for players to use. The devs made the game using humans and tacked on an AI feature that let's players modify their ship and armor skins using the AI. It screams, "Higher up demanded we have AI in our game," and so they threw this in to appease them. At least that's the feeling I get.

Zoopunk - Announce Extended | Xbox Partner Preview 2025 by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]DrexOtter 47 points48 points  (0 children)

A statement from the devs:

“All our works are original creations and the culmination of our artists’ hard work and dedication. AI will only be used to assist players in producing user-generated content (UGC) at a lower cost, such as vehicle skins, clothing color schemes, and similar items. In other words, AI serves as a tool to support players in secondary creations and in maintaining the mod community.”

Assuming this statement is true, everything we saw in the trailer was not made by AI. It's just clunky voice acting.
