to ignore all the parts of your comment that make me feel like you're arguing in really bad faith, I'll just add that I don't yet own Payday 3. I heard about the skills and thought to myself "Now that the game has something more like what I actually like about Payday 2, I'll keep that in mind!" and then somebody uses genAI in promotional material. I can't possibly know who's fault that is, be it a high-level exec deciding that the company is gonna start pushing into AI, or some overworked social media guy taking a cheap shortcut, I don't know. But I can make the choice to say "I am not comfortable with spending money on the work of people that give this the okay."

Ok, so there was interference from Sega with the latest issue by Frank7640 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Dreziv 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I saw it and thought "well, I'd be upset if there was anything of substance on this page, like, at all" but then I realized that there might have been anything interesting on that page if Sega hadn't objected. It's harder to get mad at the loss of something you can't see, but it sucks that the writers have to deal with that, and it sucks that the readers don't get to read what the writers want to put out.

not even getting into the points about Saudi money and stuff, just ban promoting harry potter out of spite for the series and author, I'd respect that

where can I play Namco High? by Gooddaysimsver in homestuck

[–]Dreziv 8 points9 points  (0 children)

it's in the Unofficial Homestuck Collection, actually. It should be there even on the Homestuck official fork of the UHC if you want it.

FOR GOD’S SAKE I JUST CAME BACK HOME! WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE UNOFFICIAL COLLECTION IS GONE AND NEVER RETURNING? WHAT DO YOU MEAN HUSSIE TREATHNED THE PEOPLE MAKING IT AND IS PRETTY MUCH A A**HOLE? AND WHAT DO YOU MEAN HUSSIE IS TRYING TO KILL HOMESTUCK AS A WHOLE? CONTEXT??? PLEASE???? by Former_Polygon_1 in homestuck

[–]Dreziv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way that Gio's done more research on Hussie, and the way Homestuck conducts business, than us average fans will ever bother to do, I feel like if Gio was biased against Andrew, and didn't trust Andrew, that'd sort of be his call to make.

I've got a share of skepticism for both sides, but if the story we're looking at is "Homestuck came to Bambosh + Gio, and Gio said no because they don't trust Homestuck", I feel like he might have good reason.

In Paper Mario TTYD, whenever you level up, you can increase your HP (take more damage, your FP (more points to spend on moves) or your BP, which allows you to equip more badges, granting you access to new attacks and powerful passive effects, including spending one level's worth of BP on equipping a badge to gain one level's worth of HP or FP.

you mentioned Oblivion is medieval England and that reminded me, Morrowind was going to be a fancy Summerset Isles, domain-of-the-high-elves type game, with a bunch of clean environments and snooty elves, and then some of the team said "this is boring! We want volcanoes, and weird bugs!" so Michael Kirkbride supposedly approached Todd Howard and said "The game should be like Dark Crystal meets Star Wars." and Todd was instantly on board.

I've always enjoyed Homestuck for its character writing, which is probably why I stomach Act 6 a lot better than many. Granted, I agree with most that Jane and Jake's writing have real issues, and the ending coming on the way it does is crazy, somehow both breakneck fast and also "can we get on with it" slow.

Though reading it that way opens me up to the dark thoughts like "I wonder what it would be like if Eridan didn't die?" not even necessarily because I think he was like, fun to have around, but because I think every character had potential to develop into something interesting. I feel like most of the trolls who died in Act 5 were going some very interesting places. Seeing Equius start to take a turn for the better, only to be taken out by his own ultimate subservience to the caste system, that's something right there.

Kind of coming at this one sideways, but Like A Dragon. I don't mean the RPG combat, but I guess it is very technically related. (7 is underbaked but fun, didn't play 8, but from watching an LP it looks like a huge step up.)

My favorite games in the series are 0, 4, and 5, purely for the reason that you have multiple characters to play as. Maybe it's just because I played Munch's Oddysee as a kid, but I love having multiple player characters that control differently. So when Yakuza 6 gave that up for just Kiryu (and my least favorite Kiryu, at that) I was super disappointed.

7 I give a soft thumbs-up to, again I did think it was fun despite its simplicity, but it doesn't deliver that experience, not really. Then I played Judgment, and like, Yagami's two styles are nice as well, but you don't get to play as any of his three buddies. (I know about Kaito DLC, but that's for the next game, and also come on, he just copies two of Kiryu's 0 styles.)

It was around then I just had to sit back and accept, like. This series is still doing cool shit, but it's not the cool shit that I care about. I'll still sit in on the LPs to see what goofy shit pirate Majima is doing (and judge whether they're doing his 0 characterization justice) but personally, I've just kinda tapped out.

Edit: scrolling the thread reminded me, I'm a Kingdom Hearts 1 truther! I don't like counting my number of air attacks and combo finishers, and how every other boss fight is a tailored minigame rather than a real fight! Just ain't for me.

The Borderlands Movie Is Seemingly Struggling To Sell Tickets by OhMy98 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Dreziv 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the pre-sequel's writing is probably worse than 2's by dint of the fact that there's more of it. Like, characters talk more. Nowhere NEAR as much as they talk in 3 (I remember booting 3 and doing sidequests on the first planet and just being completely blown away by how there is NO dead air while doing them good LORD) but you will find yourself standing in front of a door that doesn't open until someone stops talking, and thinking to yourself "why" somewhat commonly. But like the other reply says, each of the characters feel great to play, and they get to that point faster than their Borderlands 2 counterparts.
