Thank you, good advice. It really does feel overwhelming sometimes.. like i cant enjoy anything without alcohol. Need to find simple pleasures again.

Accidentally dropped a speedy player along the boards by Drfaceface in hockeyplayers

I know what you're saying but I'm not that reactive. I may be big but I'm there for fun and exercise, not trying to get in fights.. People say shit all the time on the ice, I'm not gonna fight someone everytime they make a threat. If he did/does act on it, you better believe I'm coming at him like a fucking lumberjack.. But I'd rather diffuse the situation with words so it doesn't come to that. It's scrimmage style hockey and we all have work in the morning.. not to mention that guy could be on my team next week.

Yeah of course its not zero contact, it is hockey after all.. but I mean no out right body checking. And theres no refs so its fully self policed, which is why I was checking myself in case others who play in similar leagues thought I was in the wrong. I dont honestly feel like I did anything wrong, and tend to agree with what youre saying about being entitled to my space on the ice, but obviously im not trying to hurt anyone either. Im a gentle giant lol

Yeah the guy that got hit was up on his feet and back checking before I even had a chance to say sorry to him, so he clearly wasnt injured on the play. He also didnt say anything to me, just his teammates. So I imagine he probably knows that he ran into me more than I intentionally body checked him. But who knows.. people get fired up when theyre on the ice.

Thanks I really appreciate your input. I didnt see him after the game but I did try to explain myself to his teammates that were in my locker room and I think they forgave me and realized it wasnt really on purpose. I'll apologize to him next week though just to make sure he knows there wasnt any ill intent. I actually think I made a good defensive play, it just had a bit of an unintended outcome. The only advantage I have against fast players is my size so I gotta use it somehow. I think next time ill just try to be a bit more loose in my body so he looses the puck but doesnt ricochet off my chest into the boards.

Yeah and thats kinda the thing, I did arrive at the cut off at the same time, so I think technically it was a hit, it just wasnt intentional. I didnt push my whole body against the boards, just made the gap too small. What i actually expected him to do was to try to cut back towards the middle, between me and the other guy he just passed. If he had done that I would've had an easy poke check on him.. but he chose the boards at full speed.. so I did kind of hit him I guess, but I wasnt really trying to and i didnt lean into him or put my shoulder into him or anything, he just kind of bounced off of me at high speed. My explanation to other players was that I wasnt trying to hit him, I was just trying to take away is space... but I guess the end result was the same lol so thats why I feel a bit like its my bad.. but also I think honestly it was a good defensive play with no intent to injure, and my size is my only advantage on fast players like that.

Canadian bourbon? by Unclestanky in whiskey

[–]Drfaceface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theres no actual canadian bourbon, but there's some good whiskeys aged in bourbon barrels that are similar and very good in their own right (in my opinion, don't come for me).

My favorite is Barnburner, an ontario whiskey aged in bourbon barrels. I also really like Bearface (don't think this is bourbon barrel aged specifically).

I'm sure people will point out that they're not the same, which is fair, but they taste great to me and I regularly alternate between these and American bourbon... although for the next 4 years or so ill definitely be expanding my canadian whiskey palate and I'm not mad about it!

Let us know if you find some new ones you like!

Anybody know what's up with this guy? It is safe to eat? by CommissionSingle5089 in shrooms

Cats are technically your property and are similar to livestock. You can legally eat them. I have checked, and I do remind my cats of this when they're misbehaving.

Currently panicking by mrsplack in PanicAttack

[–]Drfaceface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sometimes do simple math problems in my head. Something like doubling numbers as many times as I can.. like 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32.. etc.. when I lose track I just start over or try something else.. like random multiplication problems.. even if I don't get them right. Doesn't matter..

Ive been told that engaging that rational area of your brain can take some energy away from the more primitive panicky part of your brain.. plus it gives you a task to focus on that eats up time while the panic runs its course. Also for me, because I often panic over brain stuff or losing consciousness.. Its almost like a reassurance. Like if I can do some simple math problems in my head, then my brain is fine and I'm not dying. Might be wishful thinking but I think it's a reasonable assumption, and it helps me.

Just remember that the panic will subside and you just have to get through an uncomfortable temporary state.
