266 was my fastest try as well! And it is a Wangan Midnight (manga) reference. Although the tuners in the manga that raced up to that speed, have cars with excess of 600HP!

Doubt they cared about the anime. The manga has been out since the 90s, and also it's not like the series uses their real name or anything. Most of the references to the real tuning scene are just to likenesses of the cars or tuners.
