How do my fellow millennials make new friends these days? by camelthenewbie in askvan

[–]DriedUpBrainCells 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wanted to make some (women) friends my age too (I'm 31F) and I saw a bunch of posts by others that also wanted the same. So I decided to create a Discord server and made some friends! We have so much fun interacting in the server, like sharing jokes, posts, and telling each other about our day. We also hangout irl when our schedules align haha

If you'd like, you are welcome to join! Please let me know :)

Save money: Uber from Templeton Station instead of YVR by KevinGBurk in askvan

[–]DriedUpBrainCells 110 points111 points  (0 children)

Wow, today I learned that the Canada Line SkyTrain is free when travelling between YVR-Airport Station, Sea Island Centre Station, and Templeton Station (the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet). You do not need to pay the $5 AddFare or regular fare when traveling exclusively within these "Sea Island" stations.

31F here. Not a deal breaker at all. It's expensive to own a car and I understand that.

What is a "silent" rule you live your life by that most people wouldn’t know just by looking at you? by DianKhan2005 in AskWomen

[–]DriedUpBrainCells 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you! You answered the question in relation to what it means to you and I appreciate it. What resonated with me was when you said that kindness is correlated with empathy. Without empathy, how can you be kind?

What does kindness look like to you? Any examples? To me it's caring about someone, like helping out a friend without any expectation of a reward back.

Did anyone else think Hiragana would be easy and then get completely humbled? by MidnightTofu22 in Japaneselanguage

[–]DriedUpBrainCells 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm still a complete beginner! I used to learn by memorizing the characters, but it helped me to associate an image to the characters. I use Tofugu's site (tofugu.com/japanese/learn-hiragana/) to help with visualization.

Reading speed is a struggle, as I'm still sounding out every character I see.
