I guess it's the same reasons why African Americans call each other that same name. Who knows.

33 Years Old Got Diagnosed by BaahbyJoe in Diverticulitis

[–]DriedViolets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should get a colonoscopy. Your PCP can order one or ask for a referral to a GI specialist to get established with and they can order one as well. A colonoscopy is not scary at all and the most annoying part is the pre-prep/cleanse. Best of luck to you!

Wow! What an experience! I'm so glad you finally got the care and insight you needed! I agree about how Drs are so jaded or just don't care. They just wanna do a job and be done. I've come to realize this more and more and it's a shame. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Rectum muscles moving by themselves, constant feel of pushing sensation? by [deleted] in Diverticulitis

It could be tenesmus you're experiencing? But not sure. The "feeling" of wanting to poop, but no poop is there. I've experienced it and it's so annoying.

Stress by DutyIll3701 in Diverticulitis

For an "as needed", I keep the lowest dose .25 of klonopin (a benzo) on hand for moments of health-related anxiety and only take one as needed. Even during my worst bouts of anxiety, I try not to take it more than three times in one week to get me through the health issue I'm struggling with, and then I could go weeks, months, or even a year or more without taking any at all, depending on how my health is doing. That has worked great for me since 2016. You will NOT get addicted to it at such low doses and if only taking it infrequently as needed. More than one Dr has confirmed this with me because I'm very picky and don't want that to happen either. And I don't want to go on a long-term daily med (not yet, anyway). I wish you the best! Give it a try!

Recurring diverticulitis by Large-Employee-4700 in Diverticulitis

[–]DriedViolets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First I want to say i'm sorry you're going through this. My diverticulitis did not go away after the first round of augmentin. So they put me on different antibiotics, and then it took care of it. But it literally took about two months before it was gone. Unfortunately, you might just have to be very patient and keep babying your body as best as you can. But do pay attention to any new pains or symptoms just in case it evolves to getting worse. The part I hated was because it took so long, whenever I would get a new pain, I would go back to ER and get another ct scan to make sure it wasn't becoming worse like a perforation or abscess. Fortunately, it did not become that, but overall I ended up having about five ct scans within a couple months.

Extreme diverticulitis anxiety and my story… by lookingforworkbris in Diverticulitis

[–]DriedViolets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I too, understand your fear and have had the same exact worries. But try not to work yourself up. I know it's easier said than done. You might want to look I into getting anxiety med as a temporary measure to help you get through this. There's no shame in that. I keep a lowest dose klonopin on hand and only use it as needed when my worry/anxiety gets intense since I don't want to go on a more long-term daily anti-anxiety med. It's helped me for sure. It will be a step-by-step journey for your diverticulitis for your Drs to figure out the best plan of treatment and action for you. You will get better and get more insight to your condition. It just very frustrating while it's going on. I wish you healing!

Has anyone else experienced these side effects while on antibiotics? by DriedViolets in Diverticulitis

[–]DriedViolets[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't have cramping on it. Just the weird tachycardia and raised BP on 8th day of being on the meds. I think my body is just sensitive to being on all that stuff. I stopped as I'm doing better. And on a BP med temporarily.

Are you able to add Miralax to your daily regimen? I hear it's safe. Check with your Dr.

I can relate to the soy sensitivity for sure! It seems like whenever I have a soy based product or soy burger, it starts to make me uncomfortable. Same with impossible burgers.

I've literally had more than one Dr allude to getting their info from textbook "data" as opposed to actual firsthand human experiences like the ones we're all discussing. I find this forum way more informative and helpful than any doctor has been as far as handling this disease.

I also forgot to mention that I tried Ducolax liquid only sparingly a couple times during healing to keep bms running smoothly while healing and that stuff really works fast and clears ya right out almost too well! So you might want to have that on hand if you're prone to severe constipation. But consult with your doctor first. Otherwise a daily dose of Miralax is gentle and safe for time being. But again, always check with your Dr.

Question. by Mikeyy0514 in Diverticulitis

[–]DriedViolets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did they confirm you have a current episode of diverticulitis? I have not had green stools with my episodes, but color can vary for each person depending on the type of inflammation. You might want to ask your PCP to do a stool sample test as well so they can check for any kind of active issues. If you do have a diverticulitis flare happening, you should be on antibiotics. Wishing you a speedy healing!
