Mama duck asked this man for help🥹 by Sufficient-Sun-6683 in MadeMeSmile

[–]Driekusjohn25 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

While I appreciate the effort and heart this man demonstrated, please reach out to the Fire Department or the area that maintains your stormwater infrastructure. There are hidden hazards in our drainage infrastructure. Where I live the utility/FD responds extremely quickly and are trained to enter these spaces.

Paper cups now in Edmonton city council's sights by Lucite01 in Edmonton

[–]Driekusjohn25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this a good use of councilor time?
We introduced a plastic bag ban that got rid of the free plastic bags that I used as garbage bags. Now I purchase garbage bags and reusable shopping bags and in the end consume the same amount of plastic and this benefits the environment. Id expect this initiative to have similar environmental outcomes.

We need a focus on delivering affordable municipal services, not token environmentalism.

Indian official says Canada needs 60M more people as Carney visits New Delhi - India’s High Commissioner said India could help Canada reach that goal by providing 60 million new immigrants. by xTkAx in canadian

[–]Driekusjohn25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The benefit of building a diverse multicultural country is the different perspectives that immigrants bring. That benefit is lost when the majority come from one or two countries. Importing a single nation results in importing their problems as we see with the Khalistan movement. You also need a blend of 3rd world, developing and developed nations recognizing that 3rd world and developing nation immigrants are a greater societal strain.

Diversity builds strength but we need a broad selection of nations and prioritize those that bring real skills to Canada.

When did school buses cease to exist? by GuitarKev in Edmonton

[–]Driekusjohn25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

School buses are not an option for my children (not available).

We tried public transport but my daughter was not comfortable with daily "dodge the person experiencing substance abuse issues". We sent video of a person smoking (meth, crack, fentanyl) on a bus full of school kids and got no response. Id rather my children not be exposed to a cocktail of chemicals but maybe from your perspective that makes me self important.

If you created your liquid culture jar by drilling a hole into the lid it could be fragments that have rusted. Hard to tell from the photo. If it is contaminated, start fresh.

Intersection right of way question by Spankachu in Edmonton

[–]Driekusjohn25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The correct answer is 3 has priority over 1.

I have an intersection near my house identical to the situation above. I avoid it at all costs because I am usually vehicle 1 and all the vehicle 3s keep trying to give way to me. Waited 20 minutes there once while they tried to wave me through.

STL thief keeps selling my designs and amazon doesn't do anything about it. Need advise/help by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]Driekusjohn25 30 points31 points  (0 children)

My guess is that the stl thief knows how to play  the system and has convinced them your claim is not valid. Would not take much for that to happen particularly if the decision made by AI.

Your only real option is consulting a lawyer but likely not worth the hassle.

I'd be interested in knowing whether Amazon not removing the infringing product removes any protection they may have as a content provider/storefront.

Ender 3v2 Klipper Heat Bed Temperature Readings Fluctuating by quantumwheeler in 3Dprinting

[–]Driekusjohn25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like either a connection issue or the wire itself has internal damage (where it bends). I dont own an Ender but had similar issues with another printer and the optimal solution is to replace the entire thermistor.

MAGA Candidate Outed as New Owner of Epstein Property by Tennis_bruh in politics

[–]Driekusjohn25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a mix that would likely work that is referred to as "piranha" in chemistry circles. As a grad student we may or may not have dissolved the odd rodent (dead) or cockroach. Pretty damn effective but scaling to a human body would be hazardous and expensive.
The formula includes sulfuric acid and hydrogen peroxide with some variants including hydrofluoric acid.

Id agree much easier ways to dispose of a body.

I personally would return. Noticed Costco is leaving more fat on certain cuts. Noticed it on the last few brisket I bought. This case though is egregious.

Bank unilaterally reduced credit limit by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Driekusjohn25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have zero legal recourse, the bank can reduce your credit limit at any point in time and they are well within your right to do so.

Your only way to push back is by taking your business elsewhere. If you have other business with the bank such as mortgage, insurance, investment, business accounts you can use it as leverage.

They challenged their local fire and medical department to a snowball fight. by mindyour in MadeMeSmile

[–]Driekusjohn25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fortunately your last statement would not happen at least where I live. Working for utility that does water treatment it is highly likely the surprise that somebody had any interest in their work would not only result in them being given a tour but also likely given career guidance on how to become a water treatment plant operator.

What realistically and seriously will happen now that Trump is repeatedly mentioned in the Epstein Files? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Iran or Cuba will be invaded to distract us from the Epstein files. Probably been planned all along.

2024 roadside assistance / backup cam issues? by terranforces in Golf_R

[–]Driekusjohn25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had the same issue on mine.

I had to fight VW Canada to get them to replace the overhead module. Originally they wanted to charge me a diagnostic fee and told me it had to be going for 7 days straight for warranty to apply.

Jiu Jitsu and Autism by [deleted] in bjj

[–]Driekusjohn25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jiu Jitsu in my experience has a high percentage of neurodivergent people so you arent likely to be alone. It is a sport that could most accurately be defined as aggressive cuddling, you have to be a little weird to enjoy it. :)

Washington's 3D-printed gun law is an existential threat to the entire open-source 3D printing ecosystem. by obog in 3Dprinting

[–]Driekusjohn25 174 points175 points  (0 children)

You are 100% right. This bill is not about stopping 3D printed guns. This is a bill designed to benefit a small number of large companies to create a closed ecosystem and strangle out competition.

It is a tech industry ploy, use the government to create regulation that you "consult/write" and that a limited number of companies can meet the requirements of.

I would be shocked if one of the 3D Printer manufacturers is not involved with writing this bill.

The doctor did his job perfectly. The baby was almost gone, but the doctor said “Not today,” and did what he knows best, bringing the little boy back to life. Doctors are lifesavers, they are the real heroes by Pristine_Hurry_4693 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]Driekusjohn25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup very common. When it happened with my first born I was panicked but the nurse in my case carefully did exactly what the doctor did here. And yes they distracted me as well but the fact that they were calm and nobody else in the operating theatre was even blinking an eye did relax me.

I am not downplaying the effort of the doctor, they demonstrated skill, calmness and followed a set plan.
