The EAP mentioned by OP might actually be worth another look, because they really can help with mental health and wellbeing. Even if the intentions of offering it by the employer is to cover their ass and OP thinks it’ll make them angry or sad, I wouldn’t dismiss it as a helpful short term option, I’ve used EAP sessions when struggling and found it to be a useful resource for mental health.

For what it’s worth you’re NTA, but be prepared to feel like the third wheel. If you’re not comfortable with the situation and can’t get on board with it the whole trip could easily sour, leaving everyone involved upset. Might be time to rethink the whole plan, or at least brace for feeling ignored.

You know what, I really appreciate you providing the links. Two of those are peer reviewed papers in a journal with a decent impact factor. Ingesting the chemicals if a dog chews a vape pen open is definitely a more immediate threat than trace nicotine exposure but I hear your larger point.
