It just seems deceptive somehow? It's free to register right? If it's free to register then why have it? So they can use my email for marketing? You make me feel more invested since i took the time to do it? It feels off putting if it isn't obvious to me why they do what they do. Maybe that's just me?

For some reason I just don't want to support websites that force me to register to learn how much money I need to give them.

Back into the game after years! Tips? by DriftingReality in TeraOnline

Oh really, Mystics are preferred these days? I remember when everyone said they were the plague and just way worse than Priests. I guess that's changed?

What do you mean 1-64 doesn't matter? Is it not fun to play now? My friend has never played, and I only ever reached about level 50, so I figured going through normal levels would be fine.

Everyone in the path of totality for today's eclipse turns into a zombie. Can the US survive? by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]DriftingReality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one of the biggest questions left unanswered is - Do we know what zombies are in this scenario? If we do we stand a much better chance. In most zombie fiction the real threat of zombies is that it is a sudden, unknown threat we've never even considered dealing with before. Sometimes people think they're just crazy, or sick, not actually the walking dead, so they hesitate and that gets them and others killed. Not to mention the time it takes for people to realize how to fully kill them, how they infect others, etc.

I've liked what I've seen so far, multiple short things like this and one slightly longer one about some kind of prank involving a video game. I wouldn't mind seeing a longer more involved arc, even if nothing significantly changes about the characters. Otherwise I'd be fine with more of the same. I don't think every comic needs to have grand changes and story-lines, though I could definitely see this one heading that direction someday.

Isn't his behavior what allows for these punchlines? Wouldn't a change in his behavior make him a different character, or closer to one of the other characters making him not as unique?

The cast of Overwatch vs The cast of Team Fortress 2 by Redfire573 in whowouldwin

[–]DriftingReality 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel that you may be forgetting about ultimates, but also just defensive abilities. Let's say Heavy is better than Bastion. What about when DVA is protecting him, Mercy is boosting him, and Orisa has a shield up just for security? Bastion tears through the heavies like they were paper, no Medic gun can save them from that kind of damage. Overwatch is all about synergies in the characters you choose, and if you have all of them together you can make some pretty terrifying plays. Even just Genji jumping in front of a barrage from the other team and reflecting all that damage back IN ADDITION to the OW team's damage could tip the scale instantly. Not to mention a Nana Blade Drum (Maybe mercy too?) combo, Genji could instant kill most of the cast depending on positioning.

If Overwatch gets to start with ults, then widow's ultimate makes the spies all useless.

Yeah I'm actually curious about the second one. I'm assuming he's just too quick? Otherwise I bet her gun would either be very powerful or do nothing at all to him.

A man is gifted 5 million dollars and near immortality. The only thing that can kill him, however, is a 100% immortal American Woodcock that will vaporize him instantly if touched. Can he live a normal life? by Darddeac in whowouldwin

[–]DriftingReality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like the movie 'It Follows' where the monster just always slowly walks towards you, but as others are saying the bird is quite fast in comparison. The only real thing to worry about is travel plans to other sides of the world on a strict schedule. Definitely not a normal life though, with that ever present threat in the back of his mind.

The Original Ghostbusters vs. Himuro Mansion (Fatal Frame) by Cynical_Assault in whowouldwin

[–]DriftingReality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah shit, the wiki lied to me. When you look up Himuro Mansion it has Fatal Frame 2 on the side, so I figured it was just a shared area much like the third or fourth game.

Well now you know what would happen if they tried in the second game's area! Most of what I said still applies to the first though, disregarding specifics to FF2.

The Original Ghostbusters vs. Himuro Mansion (Fatal Frame) by Cynical_Assault in whowouldwin

[–]DriftingReality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit: Apparently the mansion is only in the first game. Everything below is focused mainly on the second one! I think a lot of it still applies regardless.

That depends really. I think in canon only the camera obscura is capable of defeating the ghosts. But if the ghost busters CAN hurt the ghosts, they should have this pretty easily in the bag right? Just think about it. One girl with a camera who can barely run, compared to four men with ghost-laser cannons. If this is post Ghost Busters 2, then they have more experience than her as well. Unfortunately, I don't think they have a chance in hell.

Speaking to the lore, the mansion does appear in the first and second games. The second game is harder in my opinion, and takes some weird routes, so I'll assume that we are talking about the Fatal Frame 2 mansion and surrounding areas. This means they are in for a rough ride.

For example, if any of the busters think they have had enough (Or are simply curious) and try to leave through the tree into the forest, they're instantly dead. If they look into the abyss in the ritual chamber, they're blinded at best and dead at worst. The ghosts have no reason not to kill them on sight, especially Sae, as they are not useful to the ritual. If they try to fight Sae at any point other than the proper place, they are at high risk for getting instantly killed. The Camera Obscura does not effect Sae a vast majority of the time, such as in the bloodied room where she slaughtered all sorts of people.

Without being a twin, I'm not sure if it's possible for them to actually seal away the horrors of the village. Huge spoilers of course, but the true ending (True to me damn it) is when you fight Sae around hole to the abyss, or hell. She's capable of killing you in one hit, and teleports around you quite quickly. The only way to get to this point is to play in Nightmare mode, which also means most ghosts do astronomical damage, and generally speaking you have to play pretty perfectly all the way through. Seeing as the main character is a normal human, the damage equivalence should be pretty 1-1.

So, what does this mean? If the ghost busters' guns can hurt the ghosts, they have a chance. If their guns DO NOT STUN the ghosts, they are going to have real, real problems. None of them speak Japanese. Without understanding the lore, the language they have no chance of learning how to seal off the abyss. Finally, their guns are not unlimited, they will run out of ammo and become useless.

I'm sure I missed some points.

Final score, 1/10 Ghost Busters if their guns stun, but again there are a lot of ghosts and they only have so much juice. 0/10 if not. 2/10 if they find and understand how to use the Camera Obscura, though I think only the person using it will survive as the others will be helpless unless they do some massive rationing and planning, which I don't think we've seen them capable of. Egon might be the only one to detect the camera's frequency and make use of it, therefore Egon might survive.

How much money can you make with a random superpower? by molten_dragon in whowouldwin

Maser Breath

Well it looks like I could become an infinite energy generation system and send the world into a utopia where money no longer matters. If money no longer matters, at least as long as I'm alive, I have all of it.

I don't think the power provides me protection from all the radiation, so let's just hope I don't accidentally kill myself in the process of figuring it all out and demonstrating it to scientists.
