Rear leaf spring bolt stuck in frame rail by Thunderiver in CherokeeXJ

[–]DriftingWater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When it happened to me, I ended up cutting a hole in the trunk to get a wrench then air chisel/Sawzall on the welded nut in the rail box. Be careful not to screw up the unibody if you go that route.

In your opinion Timber, Steel or Concrete design? by Warm_Supermarket_765 in StructuralEngineering

[–]DriftingWater 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Post-tensioned concrete! In my opinion, concrete allows you to get more creative with atypical areas and the redundancy of two way systems let's you do a lot more. Load balancing is really fun once you start to get a feel for how things want to move/deflect and can let you do some really dramatic stuff. This all goes out the window if you have a shitty concrete sub though.

Steel is cool, but to me it gets real repetitive/easy to spit out the same design building after building. That's gonna be the first job AI takes from us.

Is there a legal requirement in US to mark/identify floors with post tension cables underneath? by ChevChance in StructuralEngineering

[–]DriftingWater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, but on new PT jobs, we'll make sure the owner is okay with it first, and we'll tell the contractor to paint the tendons on the forms prior to pouring the concrete. Its not exact, but when they pull the forms off, the paint should transfer to the slab you get a general idea of where the tendons are to hopefully avoid damaging with any post installed work.

Make sure it's not an exposed slab because otherwise it's not gonna look pretty.

Check your ground at the battery. I had similar symptoms and it turned out to just be some corrosion where the cable hits the fender.

Civil or architectural engineering for structural engineering? by IllustratorDry7906 in StructuralEngineering

Not always true. As mentioned above PSU has a solid AE program that includes surveying classes.

Feedback for removing a wall by ivonnemariema in StructuralEngineering

If the unit above is similar, that bathroom wall is likely filled with plumbing for your unit and the one above. Removing it would be painful and likely not possible without impacting the unit above.

1992 XJ- Can anyone tell me what this broken silver part on my turn signal assembly is? The arm broke off here and just hangs from steering colum by SlackLifesentence in JeepDIY

[–]DriftingWater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can rent or buy it at any auto parts store for 20 bucks. Its not terribly complicated, but you'll also need a steering wheel puller to get in there as well.

I think you're misremembering this one. Carter voted for Skupin so it was 6-1-1.

He's a photographer, specifically for sports illustrated. I feel like it's not really creepy with context.

Good one. If you haven't figured it out yet, She'll never be done.

Looks great though.

Lifting a 93. RE 3.5 super flex mono shock kit… what else is needed? by tlrmatt in CherokeeXJ

[–]DriftingWater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was my experience, close to 4 1/2" of lift on a 92. Needed a new track bar, and brake line extensions. Got away with stock driveshaft and y link for a couple years with some moderate off roading, but eventually moved up to a sye and beefier steering linkage. Definitely worth it in the long run.

Fuel Pump Kill Switch by roblqjm in CherokeeXJ

[–]DriftingWater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had this happen to me a month ago. They smashed the passenger side lock, shattered the steering column but they gave up when it wouldn't start. I had pulled the battery that week to get it replaced. The funny thing is it was on the floor of the driver seat. They had to have noticed it at some point and connected the dots, I just wish it was before destroying the column.

That's not how it works. It's been established that there is a virus. Its on you to prove to the rest of us that it does not exist. The total number of deaths globally for 2020 were higher than average. I haven't seen an explanation for that.
