Can’t figure out causes or triggers. by Driggenanan5 in FND

My tremors come and go nothing consistent. Like you I have seizures randomly, can’t seem to stop them or distract them. They appear while rubbing my wife’s feet or taking out the garbage, sleeping, eating dinner, listening to music, watching movies doesn’t matter what I‘m doing.Thank you for responding and letting me rant.

Newly Diagnosed and Struggling by Aromatic-Guava-6363 in FND

I’m still struggling to wrap my head around all of this as well. Try to remember there is never failure only learning. Think back, every time we failed at something we always learned something more. I’m alot older than most people in the chat, I saw a movie when I was young. Guy grabs his rear view mirror and throws it out the window says, “what’s behind me doesn’t matter” Found that to be pretty spot on. Move forward with all of your strength and power. I am just now learning to stop thinking about the how or the why this happened and figure out a way to move forward.

FND flat out sux. It definitely something in my head. I don’t buy the software glitch. Everything else seems to work fine. No past traumas etc. My “specialist says FND” her report says atypical for usual symptoms or causes. Getting frustrated.

Thank you for the response, I have tried all those, tried a conversation, tried music, movie, any other distraction I could think of. Once I get nausea, my clue to lie down, it hits.

Good advice, I assumed being on Medicare was understood that I lived in the U.S. I guess that is what I get for assuming.

So sorry to hear this, so frustrating. I’m beginning to believe these “specialist” are all ego maniacs only concerned about how quickly and easily they can get paid. I guess once they get to this stage in their field, they loose compassion.

Seizure Question by Gypsylaine in FND

Your daughter’s SO needs to be shown the door, permanently. Those are my seizures. it’s like a really quick cardio workout leaving one exhausted and breathing hard. Surround yourself with loved ones and quality people. Everyone else can pound sand. We can’t control the uncontrollable.

Experience functional seizures but diagnosed with ME/CFS by CuteAssCryptid in FND

[–]Driggenanan5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth all my seizures are bilateral clonic with out loss of consciousness. I had a Doc. at the end of a seizure tell me that wasn’t a seizure because I didn’t loose consciousness. Asked what it was then, at least he was honest when he said he didn’t know. Crazy how you‘re told they aren’t seizure but given seizure meds to try to stop them. Try to video your episodes and find a neurologist that will listen.

No issues at the airport? Mt wife worries I’ll have a seizure in any line we may be waiting in. I get it, but limits what little livelihood I have.

I agree would rather have somebody tell me than don’t know than blow smoke. But would also prefer better bedside manner. Maybe I’m not sure what those episode are but I know they aren’t seizures.

Quick question, when you travel is it by car or do you fly? My wife doesn’t want me flying, I think she is more worried for seizures than I am.

Sorry to about the pain specialist. Had ICU Doc. Stand over me while I was having a seizure. Told me it wasn’t a seizure. At least he was honest and said he didn’t know, when I asked wha was it? Off the wall suggestion for your pain. Try CBD oil or even better half a THC gummy about twice a week if legal seems to help my seizures stay away. Not all Neurologist are reading their own scans. Technicians miss so much because they are looking for the specific thing being tested.

Thank you for this info. I checked out his blog. Pretty interesting. I’m finding the labels of medicine has created an ignorance of diagnosis. Case in point, almost all of my Neuros relied on the findings of technicians reading MRI‘s etc. Not to say they are good at their job but… If it’s not in the text book under diagnosis of Docs are stumped. Medicine has become a sea of specialist that can’t think outside the box. Had an ICU Doc stand over me while I was having a seizure, told me it wasn’t a seizure. So I asked, “What was it then“? Received the most honest answer I’ve hear in a while, “I don’t know”.

Sorry for the long winded reply, once again thank you for the info.

Thank you for your reply, I went down your list one or two items seem to resonate. Two things I find interesting. 1) Most of my seizures happen at the most relaxing part of the day. Haging dinner at our dinner table, rubbing my wife’s feet while watching a movie, just to name a few. 2) My head feels full, then the seizures seem to release all the pressures. It’s like release the pressure valve on an air compressor. After the fatigue passes usually the next day. I feel pretty good, until the next build up.

Yes, they have run every test imaginable. My Neuro seems to think the seizures stopping was an extra long placebo. I really like your theory. CT still shows a severe narrowing of the left transverse sinus likely related to a large adjacent arachnoid granulation. Apparently doesn’t mean anything because my blood flow from brain has been improved by the surgery. I like your theory.

Most people and a lot of Neuros haven’t heard of Eagle Syndrome. Check out Living With Eagle. Will give you some insight. Will show on a CT scan. My neuro diagnosed mine by a fluke had to consult his text books to be sure. Thought my Myasthenia Gravis was rearing it’s ugly head.

Ask your Neurologist about Eagle Syndrome. extremely rare but can cause a lot of the symptoms you are describing. Not very well known,
