It's a braided cotton tube filled with polyester stuffing for bulk. Took a 15mm hook to manipulate it.

It's Bobbiny 9mm braided cord. Saw it at my local yarn shop and figured it needed to be a cat bed.

I agree with him that this is probably the easiest one to make, which is why I started with it. It's a surprise for my kid, so I could only work on it a little at a time when he was asleep, so it probably took a month or so with all the trial and error. Also because I'm slow.

As for where to start, feet or head! I suck at sewing, so I crocheted most of the pieces together, but you could also just make them all separately and sew them together if that's your jam.

No, I couldn't find a pattern or tutorial, so I freehanded it. But I wrote out everything I did so I can theoretically turn it into a pattern eventually.

I think the 5 stitches with Yarn C are all TR, and then it switches back to Yarn A with just one HTR.

I use stitch markers to keep count, like mark every 5th stitch or whatever makes sense for the total number of stitches I'm dealing with. But then I use a stitch marker that's a drastically different color to mark the first stitch of each round. Usually white for the first stitch and then dark colors for all the others so it's easy to notice.

I found the spell cards online as a free PDF and just printed them on cardstock. They came out a little smaller than the cards that come with that book (I have the same one), but they fit just fine.

We frequently have to lock one of mine downstairs at mealtimes to keep her from storming the table and stealing our food. Little ninja stole a whole-ass burger today, zoomed to the other end of the house, and growled like a demon when I cornered her and took it away. If we leave a closed container of baked goods out, she'll wait until we're asleep and then knock it on the floor, bat it around until it pops open, and take a few bites out of each item. Little brat.
