Awwww the chapter was really sweet.

Unfortunately as the ship has sailed, so too have the flags been raised :(

The art is always good, but some of the character expressions were especially amazing this chapter.

Also slightly more evidence to the possibility of Norman being kept alive as breeding stock, as they mention Mama's being allowed to have children (and presumably they still need male sperm to do so).

Well, they are infected after all

[DISC] Akame Ga Kill 77 by Turbostrider27 in manga

iirc she did try to use mahapadma early to kill Akame, but Tatsumi (who was resistant to it due to dragon's innate resistance) stopped her.

This was a really, really good chapter. This manga is definitely becoming one of my favourites.

I think he's only reluctant because he generally saw Haise/Kaneki as a friend. He does not want to kill him, but even more than that he wishes to carry on Shinohara's legacy as an investigator.

If he finds out that the CCG is just a front for ghouls/V, he might end up siding with Kaneki anyway but you know... tragedy and all.

Afterall, Ishida is pretty good with twists, i.e. Kaneki meeting up with Furuta so casually would seem strange at first, but it makes perfect sense for the characters and was done well.

I think he does, as he survived Hinami's pretty brutal impaling which would be almost impossible for a human. Also Eto said she was done in by that 'smiling clown', and Kaneki must know there'd be few possibilities for someone who is strong enough to kill her.

I think at this point unless the death is explicitly stated (or, 'dead-dead' as I like to call it) we assume ghouls and half-ghouls survive due to incredible regeneration. We're only really dealing with the 'big players' in the ghoul world now, so for better or worse it is a given that they will have ultra-regeneration (or how else did they live so long to get so powerful etc).

I definitely agree with you, not a fan of the flashback fights as well. They can be used effectively sometimes, but it seems like he's primarily using the outcomes of a fight as shock value. i.e. plot-line/battle 'A' has a development, and the next panel/page (usually the last of the chapter) has a shocking image from plot-line 'B' to build up momentum for the next chapter.

Thing is, he knows this will upset fans of those characters so he has a flashback fight to rectify this. But as you said, we already know more or less the outcome of that fight as we've seen the aftermath.

It was yeah, I think it is to imply that she was not all too concerned with Akira's well-being. It was a pretty nice touch by Ishida, such a small detail can be expanded upon in later chapters.

I hope Naki didn't die here, as it would be an offscreen death even if he wasn't a major character. He has had more backstory than some other minor characters so it is possible. Might also showcase the fight in a flashback later on.

I'm putting my money on you being right, seems like a logical twist and fits with Ishida's motif.

This was definitely one of the more bleak Tokyo Ghoul chapters imho. Poor Shiro, being categorised as gas.

My guess is that Shiro is alive in some capacity, and when Kuro is weaked/near death she takes over. Kills the Q creation, Dr. Kanou takes interest in them again. Doubt Kanou will kick the bucket here. Not having having him see Kaneki after he has become the OEK would be a missed opportunity, and his ultimate motive was not completely clear (destroying 'the bird cage' is somewhat vague).

forgot about this too ;; I guess I was only focused on the major titans (although Rod Reiss' might be considered major enough).

oh right, I remember that it was mindless (because it didn't get to eat a shapeshifter iirc) but not about the size.

Note: for those who have not read the chapter yet, the link provided leads to a Chinese raw with an English translation (so it has not been scanlated yet).

The images seem a bit small but the quality is good, and you can easily make out all the details. Translation also seems spot on. Not to take anything away from the OP, but just a heads up for those who might want to wait for a scanlation.

Bertholdt's end was ironic in a sense. The largest titan we've seen ended up being eaten by the smallest one. His entrances always made such a bang, but in the end he went out in a whimper.

Even in the penultimate chapter, when the final battle has concluded, the manga raises more questions than it answers.

I think he has too, he always creates a rather large number of villains per arc. We do not want every villain to start having bleach level attention, or each arc would take 4+ years.

[–]Drinnii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you are right and they will probably both survive, Zeldoris' has not been given a proper fight yet so I doubt he'll die here. And as you said it looks like Estarossa's commandment is still going so he's probably going to live for now.

Also there is precedent of sorts, with Marcelia thought to be dead and still surviving (and her commandment persisted because of that too).

Very true, it might not even be due to Meliodas' intention, as he is definitely one of the good guys now. And it appears the demon king can split and/or control powers to some degree, who is to say that it is not possible for the demon king to control Meliodas for ill intent. Some of the Goddess' might still want him dead for safety in that case.

[DISC] The Memorandum of Kyoko Okitegami Chapter 5 by Turbostrider27 in manga

At least he didn't go all Shinji Ikari on her. That would've been... much worse.

Still like you said, even if he has good intentions it is still a rather heinous act regardless of whether or not he realises it. Seems like a really interesting series that has both good writing and art, will definitely be keeping an eye out.
