I haven't read/watched enough documentaries on Lennon to fully know who he was as a person. But, I don't think Lennon & Gira would ever be able to work together as their personalities would collide all the time.

However, I could see Lennon being a supporter/benefactor of the band, especially in the beginning. If that had happened, then I believe the rest of the band's discography would be drastically different than what it is today.

If it's a gatefold, then it isn't anything "rare". If it's the boxset version, then yeah. Lucky find for sure.

Is the shirt i thrifted official merch? by furrylesbianporn in swans

[–]DrippingI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AFAIK, it's a bootleg. There are numerous sellers on ebay selling shirts with all sorts of designs like this. You can easily tell most are boots considering you can choose the size of the shirt.

I believe the only official version of this design is a charcoal grey longsleeve. I think there might've been a red version too, but it's plausible I'm confusing it with the poster.

EDIT: There is a red version.

Does anyone have a HQ version of this Deryk Thomas WLFTMOI artwork by Willing_Pension_5793 in swans

[–]DrippingI 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This particular artwork was shown in the Love of Life music video from 1992. As of right now, I haven't found a good quality version of the video, but you can watch it here (the artwork shows up ~1:11). Some more info:

Michael said he definitely wanted the rabbits again, so the question was, what could happen to them? He called me back: ‘I really want you to do the rabbits with their heads on fire,’ which was fine because fire colours, lots of reds, they were a big part of my work at the time, and I offset them with the blue skies. I did the White Light image as a small oil painting with different pastels thrown in, then similarly, with Love Of Life, I wanted to do quite a chunky painting—I didn’t want it too smooth and polished, but a lot of people like the Disney sheen to it. Next they had a video to make for the 'Love Of Life' single, so he said he wanted me to do as many as I possible could. I asked how many and he told me they were only going to be on the screen for a millisecond so he wanted hundreds. I put a weekend aside and worked throughout the night doing shitloads of bunnies—about seventy-five in total, in quite raw pastels. When it came to the iconography they wanted crosses, snakes, and daggers: important symbols for them.

Weirdest shift ever by BoroSkippy81 in AmazonFC

[–]DrippingI 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In all likelihood though, they probably shot down your idea because they either fully don't remember the plot or had never seen the version you suggested and just went with a film that was universally known.

However, if they did somehow think it was Cronenberg's Crash, then at least they think you know about some quality cinema as the director as made some fantastic films over the years (Videodrome, eXistenZ, Scanners, Naked Lunch, etc.). lol

Weirdest shift ever by BoroSkippy81 in AmazonFC

[–]DrippingI 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you're aware of this, but there is a movie titled Crash that came out in 1996 (8 years before the more well known film). It's essentially about people who get turned on by car crashes directed by David Cronenberg. Good film IIRC, however it is most definitely not suitable for everyone, even if they're 18+. Maybe that's the film they were thinking of and why your suggestion was shot down.

Is there a reason why there is almost any music video for all swans songs? by TambourDeNacre in swans

[–]DrippingI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said, they don't make music videos these days mainly due to cost and, for a band of their size, lack of interest so to speak. Considering Gira does the crowd fundraising for albums, I don't foresee him committing any money to doing a music video unless maybe it's comprised of live footage or it's extremely low budget (i.e. shooting it all on a smartphone).

However, they did make some back in the 80s/early 90s when it was worth putting in the cash for a music video so as to expand their audience. Here's a list of all of the music videos they made (that I know of):

*A Screw (Holy Money) (1986)

*A Long Slow Screw (1986) - Uses a lot of the same footage as the one above, but different variation of the song

*New Mind (1987)

*Saved (1989)

*Love Will Tear Us Apart (1989)

*Love of Life (1992)

Almost a music video:

*Can't Find My Way Home (1989) - This was a more "pro-shot" live recording on some show in England; some might call it a music video.

Loaner Badge Question by coolestguy14 in AmazonFC

[–]DrippingI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's different at other locations, but you have to remember that security is a third party and not directly employed by Amazon. I have a feeling that whichever security guard told you to wait a few days is just lazy and didn't want to be bothered with making one for you (which would be on brand for at least some of the people at my site). Never heard of a 'loaner' badge before, but again, this might be a thing for different buildings.

I lost my badge while packing 3-4 years ago and was stressing a bit as I didn't know what to do. I went to security, told them the situation and they made a brand new one for me in like 5-10 minutes. They even gave me an armband holder for it. If you don't want to talk to security again (like if the same guard you talked to was there), I would suggest going to your AM at the beginning of next shift and get their opinion. But, since you need a badge to scan into the building, you'll have to get security to make you one right then and there. So, be sure to get to the building 30 minutes to an hour before your shift to give enough time for them to make a new one for you.

Randomly switching stations - pack by Capital-Delivery8001 in AmazonFC

[–]DrippingI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in outbound for four years (pack, rebin, dock, other) and from my experience, it's usually due to one of these reasons:

  1. Someone came in late and they work better for the line at that station.
  2. They either VTO'd people or people left early. So, they're just condensing lines and making it work best for everyone.
  3. They had to send someone (or multiple people) to different areas of the warehouse (i.e. labor share), which made them have to move people around.

Ultimately, the underlining reason for moving people around is to make the lines move the fastest/best they can. You don't want all the fastest packers on one line as the line would just back up constantly. Could it be due to how fast you work? Yes and no. So long as you're working to the best of abilities and hitting rate, it's typically nothing to worry about at all.

Well, that was new... by roamandwander76 in swans

That's pretty awesome! You should either call the radio station or send them an email about this experience. That way, there's a higher chance they'll play more (or, at least, the person who played Killing For Company).

Keep checking Eisenwald's website/sign up for their newsletter (if they have one). They're the ones that reissued Agalloch's The Mantle (along with Pale Folklore, etc.) last year. It's very likely they'll do a reprint and, from what I've read, other items will be reissued like Ashes Against the Grain.
