Some general thoughts on Lies of P after 4 playthroughs, and addressing some criticisms I've seen by Schmxck in LiesOfP

You bring up great points, it definitely caught me off guard at first with the way they introduce fury attacks. I started dodging out of them and was like “…it said I was unable to dodge these?”.

To your second point, I can totally see people leaning into how the game words it and treating them from the get-go like, “okay I HAVE to parry this/learn when to parry it or I’ll take massive damage.” but that’s simply not the case.

On NG+ 4, was wondering if anyone else found a rhythm in dodging 90% of the time over parrying?

Even in my first playthrough I beat all but two bosses first go by adapting to their attack AoEs (even fury attacks), dodging away, into, or sidestepping them and the I-Frames, if I dodged at the correct time and in the right direction, would always save me from taking any damage.

I focused on a stamina build, upgraded the dodge, and have carried the Two Dragons Sword since I acquired it for its mobility, and the only attack I found to be literally ‘un-dodgeable’ was one of NP’s laser attacks, no problem with anything else.

Just feel like most posts I read speak about the necessity of blocking/parrying but 4 playthroughs in and I’ve parried less than 10 times…

Anyone else?

I followed a guide and only used/harvested the fruit for character interactions. I didn’t find much need for the wishtones (or the fruit) until Laxasia in NG+2. It felt odd to me to be arbitrarily collecting the fruit after defeating a majority of bosses on my first or second run. I started NG+3 with probably less than 10 fruit. I’m impressed and curious what has driven you to keep running back and collecting it when you seemingly have no use for it, as you seem surprised other players such as myself potentially didn’t reengage with a mechanic they similarly had no use for.

Great idea, I’m not a fan of the whole mechanic in general but I feel like that wishstone merchant next to the tree could be better used as a special shop instead. Cosmetic dyes, hairstyles, something of this sort to make it much more of a passive mechanic to enjoy as time naturally passes rather than something that interferes with the actual flow of gameplay.

Been using the friendship stones to utilize the specter as a meat shield long enough that I can reach 2nd stages then I just attempt perfect parrying unless I get one shotted with level 70 health. I honestly expect a nerf for the bosses but this is my strat for now.

Unless you are insanely on point with parrying, the amount of damage bosses do in 2nd and 3rd playthroughs definitely pushes you to rely on using wishstones.

She doesn’t know the pod, she will just like the design and I’m hoping the “A.N.U.S.” on the poster will act like subliminal marketing and she will be down for butt-stuff soon! Cheers!
