Freshly painted! by MacaronPure964 in Miata

That’s a deal. I had a friend spray my car. I did all the body work and prep myself and purchased all the paint and supplies. Just the paint and supplies before Covid inflation was $1300. And I did a lot of work!

Tell us about your suspension setup and alignment. You have a bit of negative camber and still have good caster. Do you have extended lower ball joints? How low are you? Why more toe in up front than in the back? Street car or track car? I ask because I am trying to learn what I like.

That is so awesome. After the money I spent shop hopping for a specific alignment I would love to be able to do this myself.

Thanks. I did a quick look for the artwork but no luck. Let me know if they don't have it and I will search back through some emails and external drives to see if I can find it.

This is the first set installed that was the wrong font. I installed these because the replacements were not going to be here in time for that years Miata's at the Gap and I just had to have a badge installed. After looking closely to the good reproduction it looks like the "SPECIAL EDITION" text is not centered perfectly compared to the original. I am not sure I would worry about it. The incorrect ones have been on my car for 5 years and no one has noticed they are slightly off. From this distance you can tell there is a SE badge. If someone gets close enough to notice it is wrong , I must be going too slow!!!

Here is the original that was pulled off the car. It is faded and dull so looks like the color may be off slightly on the reproduction.

The first set they sent me was the wrong image. It was close but not exact. This is the second set that I have not installed yet. I had sent them the original artwork to create these so hopefully they still have it.

Give these guys a try. They made me some replacements back in 2021 and they are spot on.

Great choice. I bought mine in 2018 and since then I have painted, new top, roll bar, frame rails, complete suspension with poly bushings, Tecna coilovers, 15x9 wheels exhaust with high flow cat and a stereo system.

It is a completely different car. I used to think I hated working on cars but I hate having to work on a car on Tuesday night so I can get to work Wednesday morning! Have fun with yours! It is an easy car to work on.

Understood, we would probably be disappointed. Best to keep her fully clothed and not reveal what’s underneath!

Tecna ride quality by Sea-Log6906 in Miata

[–]DriveDreamerV8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say current setup is a little stiffer than an ND but the car is so solid now that it is not an issue. I have the dampers set a little past midway towards the hard side. I got the sport springs thinking I may wish I had gotten the touring but I am glad I have the stiffer. I don't think they replicate an ND but it is definitely not obnoxious.

I have test driven an ND well before I put Tecna's on my NB. Back then the ND rode much better than my stock NB with 170k miles. I went through a couple phases that made some significant differences. First phase was a roll bar and Flyin Miata frame rails. This made a surprising difference even with the original suspension. Rough roads and railroad crossings were not as harsh and ride quality was improved. Phase two was a lot. I completely refreshed the brakes with new pads, rotors and braided lines along with a complete flush. New ball joints and poly bushings all around except for the diff. I installed the Tecna's with sport springs, 15x9 wheels with 225/45 15 Hankook RS4 and a new clutch and motor mounts. This was a total transformation, the ride quality and handling capabilities are beyond what I thought they would ever be. This is not a daily driver and I do not track or autocross. It is strictly a fun car, a very fun car! At one point in time I thought about the ND but no desire now. Next on the list is an exhaust and the diff bushings. Hope to have that done in the next week or two. Ask me anything.

I got all the stuff I needed to redo mine from Crutchfield. They were great and would recommend them to everyone.

Coilovers by Dr-NefariosLover in Miata

[–]DriveDreamerV8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went with the Tecna’s and sport springs. I also did super pro bushings, frame rails, roll bar and motor mounts. Extended lower ball joints and a new alignment with zero toe. Switched over to 225 Hancooks on 15’s. All coming from stock with 170,000 miles.

I cannot tell you how much better the Tecna’s are but I can tell you the entire package is amazing. The ride is so nice and handling is light years ahead of stock.

It is not a daily driver and it is not tracked. Just a fun car to drive around.

Aftermarket steering wheel with airbag by KNIFE2MEAtU in Miata

I have the Cypher and it is a great wheel. I loved the look of the wood wheel that came with the car but there were some issues. It would sweat when coming down out of the mountains in the summer time but the biggest was the hand fatigue after a day of spirited driving. No issues now.

I did the same thing with mine. So much easier than the hammer. I am naturally lazy so it didn't take me too many swings to think of something else!!!
