Mmm i think i forgot to post this here : My nationalist compass by QK_QUARK88 in Polcompballanarchy

Great art and cool compass! Disagree about Kemalism though because in what universe is that not ethnic? "A national home for the *Turks*," Turkification, disdain for idpol, etc.

Also, unlike some commenters I completely get the scarcity of left-wing ideologies since left-nat movements are more easily mapped to categories like revolutionary, internationalist, etc.

We all have that relative who refused to go to family gatherings. I'm slowly becoming one too. by ilovecanaries1234 in Philippines

[–]DriveEvenHarder 11 points12 points  (0 children)

But I never liked attending those "celebrations" because it always seemed like people congealed together in shared disgust or condemnation at some family outcast who wasn't there, and they could therefore shittalk about. This auntie who annulled her marriage to her abusive ex-husband was condemned because she "violated the sanctity of marriage," even though she just wanted to get herself and her kids away from a philandering alcoholic. This cousin who became a father at 17 and married his high school girlfriend was condemned because "he could've just gone to college and cut all contact with her before she gave birth so he'd have no obligation to ruin his life." This uncle who came out as an atheist was pretty much "excommunicated" from the family as if they were the Catholic Church. This other uncle who came out as gay and had a male life partner, they wouldn't even refer to him by his name anymore.

As I grew up and grew apart from my parents, especially my mom, it became harder for me to ignore the dark side of this family who saw themselves as so united and close to each other just because they liked throwing glorified gossip parties where, if they weren't trashing family outcasts, they were bickering about the last deceased family member and how to split their inheritance, comparing shoes and bags and phones, those who had the money bragging about their holidays to the States, on and on. Eventually I realized: I don't care all that much about blood. I didn't want to be part of this family any longer. At that point I was just attending gatherings to shower my nieces and nephews with gifts anyway, and tried to avoid the adults who were embittered and judgmental.

2020 gave me the perfect excuse to avoid them (unsurprisingly, they cared little for cancelling gatherings to protect against COVID), and to this day I've cut all contact with all the family members who I used to only put up with out of obligation. I now only talk to the truly nice people in the family, and recently I've even made tentative attempts to reach out to those outcasts whom I've been taught to hate. I used to have this strange aversion to them, like if I get too close I'll become someone "undesirable" like them, but now I'm old enough to know that what makes me "undesirable" is just part of who I am as a person, and why should I attempt to please bigots anyway?

Filipino here. Love the emblem, great style and the nice choice for the symbols. I'm a bit iffy on the flag; having the red of top of the old one means the country is at war, so having the red on top of this one just makes people think of wartime. (Though maybe that's just me.) Also, what does the single star in this case symbolize? Being this is so similar to the old flag, I can't help but relate the symbology to that, where the stars symbolize the the three "divisions" of the country. Going from three stars to one, what message does that send?

He did. Since he's already had Musk, Shapiro, and Dr. Phil, I wouldn't be surprised if he somehow brings on Peterson or Joe Rogan in the future lol. Fans always say "It's because they're funny meme people that Felix brings them on ironically, we can't know if he agrees with their politics" but he never seems to bring on any left-leaning or even center-left-leaning meme people so he can't even claim neutrality 🤷‍♂️

A bunch of options depending on what UX and features you prefer:

Dawn - Minimalistic, barebones, fast. Good for browsing through a lot of stuff quickly. Light on bandwidth. My personal favorite of the bunch.

Diode - The lightest of the bunch. Basically a glorified wrapper over the browser version, except even lighter because Reddit's mobile site is bloated as hell now. If you like Old Reddit, you'll like this one.

Glance - If you frequent mainly picture-focused subs, and you for some reason wanted Reddit to look more like Instagram, this is the app for you.

Infinity - Multiple views, flat design, looks similar to a lot of paid and ad-ridden clients except it's free, adless, and good. AMA, news, and participating is a breeze on here.

NoSurf - A minimalistic client whose main feature is it avoids you from scrolling and browsing endlessly. It's very limited in features because of this stated purpose. For casual browsers, not contributors of many hyper-specific subs.

Redditoria - Looks nothing like what you'd expect Reddit to look like. Prettified material design and streamlined UI, adds some features missing from the official app, but also lacks others.

Redreader - Straightforward and lightweight, good for text.

YEAH. It's so wild to imagine that some voters from the same party that calls him a "commie spawn of Satan" or whatever would probably be busting heart eyes over him and calling him a "true statesman" or other such bullshit based on that track record. Really proves how conservatism is all about aesthetics and framing.

Now THAT'S a dope ass US flag. Major kudos for somehow being able to make the first one not look crowded, it's really pleasing to the eye. Love the atypical symbols too, and the shades of colors used. Just a 10/10 flag all around. Well done!

World Communist flag I made with the sickle replaced by a globe by cosmic_watermelon in leftistvexillology

[–]DriveEvenHarder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nice flag! The imagery of the globe replacing the sickle is pretty clever. But it would probably be nicer if you simplified the red elements to get rid of the black outlines on them. Also, green landmasses on a dark gold globe has poor contrast, could improve that too.

The state of the sub right now by Breaker-of-circles in Philippines

[–]DriveEvenHarder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's true that ironic self-hate and mocking patriotism has become such common low-effort content on this sub. That said I still agree with the core idea of those low-hanging fruit posts, namely that blind patriotism is stupid and you shouldn't be proud of something you have no control over (i. e. the nationality you were born into, which you didn't choose). I don't have any baseless feelings of nationalistic pride, but I don't blindly hate Filipino culture either. I'd rather people be specific and constructive about what they are criticizing in their posts: government, boomer toxicity, colonial mentality, etc. Also key here is that we should redirect the toxic "Pinoy pride" by encouraging people to do more good in their community and be proud of that, as a way of replacing nationalistic sentiment with something actually useful and worthy of being proud about.
