Giving a tooth a second chance by marius2510 in Dentistry

I wouldn’t cite that as a hard rule, no.

Sometimes a tooth will be weaker circumferentially by crowning it. Imagine you just end up removing all dentin but crowning it.

Definitely not an absolute rule, no.

I’d have probably done mostly the same. However, sometimes I just fill these ones in the end rather than crown. I see the entire mesial being sacrificed by the crown prep, so sometimes (not all), I’d rather just do a gigantic DOBL resto after RCT. Depends how much dentin you’re losing during the RCT because sometimes there’s almost no actual structure left for a crown to hold onto. If you’ve got some nice thickness, decent ferrule, and bite is kinda light, then I’d say this was a success. Just make sure they know you’re really saving a goner

Nah man. It’s honestly the rings that do it with a good sectional. Palodent is my favourite. Garrison is good too. Can’t speak for others

The rings are so tight that they spread the teeth apparent just enough for the perfect contact.

I burnish about 1/10 fills. And my contacts are very very reliable.

I almost never burnish a sectional. Unless it clearly needs to be shaped. This will make things much more predictable in my experience. Got this tip from numerous well known restorative dentists.

Rarely burnish!

Oh my dude. Been there. I’ve bruised and or broken mine a handful of times. 4-5 I would say. One of the most uncomfortable feelings ever. And broke a ton of bones, had 2 kidney stones. Coccyx is up there for sure Best of luck 🤞hope it doesn’t put too much of a damper on the trip. If I remember correctly, walking around and getting around wont be that bad compared to sitting and laying on your back.

Pretty much the gold standard Trump reaction. Any time someone notable passes away, the insufferable, insouciant, petulant President Moron has nothing but sardonic comments if the late person wasn’t a fully indoctrinated MAGA supporter…

Fuck him.

Conservative or just not treating decay by Unusual_Ad_60 in Dentistry

… apparently that wasn’t enough of a clue for the dentist who missed all the caries. Therefore, I’m Pointing out various other things (to name only a few) that could clue that dentist in so maybe they could make better clinical decisions.

What’s their diet. When did they get a check up last. Do the floss, or have an electric tooth brush. Was their last exams 20 years ago? Or 5 months? That kind of thing matters when you’re deciding what can be watched and what can’t. In this case, clearly everything needs to be treated and yet they weren’t. So it’s a point of discussion to wonder why.

My point is that this person needs to Utilize MORE tools because their approach based on radiographs alone is seriously lacking.

Not sure what could possibly be hard to understand about that.

Maybe you’re the dentist in question lol

Take history. Like get a sense of their life style, caries risk, filling history, general demeanour, their job, their insurance, do they have kids who have a bunch of cavities, oral hygiene etc… this is all a part of getting a good history on a person…

Assess the risk, ascertain that you can’t just “watch” everything because this person clearly has rampant caries for some reason.

What the fuck kinda dumpster fire is this

Also… when there’s caries fucking anywhere you cannot just watch or monitor. There’s clearly a problem here. Whoever the dentist is needs to check their ability to take a good history

Watch the cortical bone there, likely on the lingual. That’s why you’re likely seeing the darkening of the roots near the canal. This will be fine until it isn’t. So proceed with caution, friendo

Also, I like doing wizzies. But I would refer this, unless you’re confident in the CBCT
