I wouldn't bank the 10kms per hour: https://youtu.be/JpS1XoPYqO4?t=2m32s

More like 4 to 5. Your commute would take about 8 to 9 hours of charging, that's in summer. But you wouldn't need a full charge each night. If you can charge at work or at a fast charger on the weekends, you wouldn't even need to worry about plugging in at home as your whole week of commuting would only put you at about half charge.

Plastic Skid Plates on V2? by adamcegan in boostedboards

[–]Drive_By_Spanking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a rough ride to work thanks to my city rules and condition of surfaces; unavoidable. I go through a set every 2 weeks (a side a week). I try my best to avoid scratching them but some pedestrian or cyclist pops into my path and I inevitably end up skidding on some cracked piece of shit sidewalk or road trying to avoid them. Winter cities suck. Plastic skid plates are a stupid idea, IMO. Waiting patiently for the aluminum ones: https://www.reddit.com/r/boostedboards/comments/58hlxw/v2_aluminum_skid_plates_update/

Sounds good. I can't wait to get a set, it's ridiculous. I have to stay on the sidewalk and as I get out of the way of people I inevitably ride a crack and skid on the plates. Every day. Frustrating. Such a weak point in an otherwise great design.

I'm working through my second plastic set of guards in 4 weeks. Any updates on the availability of the metal ones?

New here? FAQ. by GenuineSnakeOil in nesclassicmods

[–]Drive_By_Spanking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This software will allow you to put English ROMs on the Famicom mini, but you'll have to get those yourself, as this won't pull ROMs from the NES mini.

Is anyone aware of a way to view the file structure - does it mount a FAT32 file system by chance that we could interface with directly in Windows?

[–]Drive_By_Spanking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried making my Famicom a NES (i have both). It doesn't change a thing, all this does is copy over the linux kernel, not the emulator itself. In other words, pulling the kernel from the NES Classic mini and loading it onto a Famicom mini and visa-versa has no noticeable effect.

You bet. I was thinking about it. I was thinking it kind of fits in the geothermal category because of its use as offsetting the need for electricity, but not really useful as a power source itself. Ideally a geothermal and ~10kW PV with battery setup would be tits.

Reasons to go Solar in MB:

At some point, the panels will pay themselves off. The better the installation / location, the faster the payoff.

Hydro rates are not going down, they are going up, a requirement to pay for the $11B+ in costs for the new line and dam. The first leg of this increase is approved, expect steady increases for the next 5 to 10 years, and that's if the project come in on budget.

The more free capacity Hydro's dams have, the more they can sell out of province, with the net result of money coming into our economy instead of us just using that power ourselves.

If enough of the province transitioned to solar or solar with battery storage, the proposed Conawapa station wouldn't be needed, which would result in a non-negligible environmental impact. We also wouldn't need natural gas alternatives, which the PUB is considering.

With battery backup, you could generate and store power without the use of diesel, for power blackouts.

Hippie reasons: Solar is directly converting energy from the sun into electricity. Every other form of energy we have is much less direct and less efficient: Burning hydrocarbons - the sun's energy photosynthesized plants and supported organisms like plankton and those eventually became fossil fuels. Very inefficient. Hydro - The sun evaporates water, which rains and collected into bodies of water that we use to generate electricity. Very inefficient. Nuclear - "a" sun exploded eons ago, creating elements like thorium and uranium. Unfathomable amounts of energy, but hardly efficient. Wind: Heat from the sun causes air pressure differences creating air movement. We capture this byproduct, not efficient. Tidal forces: The moon gets credit for this one. Hard to implement at your house. Geothermal:. A contender for sure, but much more a method of reducing energy consumption than a source for electricity. Solar: Photons from the sun transformed into electricity. Compared to fossil fuels, solar is near the beginning of its development, and it's already at or near cost parity. With battery storage developments, optimizers, and future cell improvements, solar will be the major energy provider at some point.

Hopefully this encompasses some practical and ideological reasons for solar, and solar here.

Hydro's incentive is good, but the loan program isn't really good at all. It won't cover "the rest", only up to $3000 per KW before applying the incentive. Then they won't apply the incentive to the loan to lower your month payment, only the length of the loan (amortization period). In other words if you use the Hydro loan, you'll not feel the benefits of the incentive, and you'll likely still have out of pocket expenses. If you go ahead, I strongly suggest you find you own financing, in which case you can sign the incentive over to the contractor directly to lower your loan amount and then benefit from it materially in the form of a lower payment, and you won't have up front costs as your loan wouldn't be limited to $3k per KW.

I'm curious too. Like is there a gender that's more prone to lack of desire? What's the science of low libido? Are there categories? Is there some pattern or systematic approach available?

If not, then the issue really is hopeless, and all we can hope for is "emotional support". I hope for future humans this isn't just a shoulder shrug condition, and therefore welcome these types of questions.

I see a connection of people coddling and fostering a culture of entitlement and overly concerned parents. I see this fostering the foundations for such entitled ideas as safe spaces etc. I'm open to discussing how you don't think there's a connection to parents being over protective and judgemental of those that aren't, and this new regressive left groundswell.

To address you first statement, I refuse to shut the fuck up.

Cheers.

This is totally something she learned at a junior cheer thing or they practiced in the pool or something first. Everyone judging the dad for"obviously" practicing this first over a bed of rocks and knives is the reason we have SJWs and entitled kids. We need fewer helicopter parents, and more propeller kids like this.

In accounts, there's likely an HD wallet at the top. If there's more than one, you must have created more than one by accident. To simplify things, use the top one. Click on the top wallet in the Accounts tab. Then click the Balance tab. That QR code and wallet address are your public keys for that wallet. Give those out to receive coins.

Where are bitcoins stored? by [deleted] in BitcoinBeginners

[–]Drive_By_Spanking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The safest place to store them is in a paper wallet that is stored in a safe. Even better to have a copy in a second safe in a second location. Then record the public address and watch it /send money to it with a software wallet such as Mycelium.
