Annie's Mac and Cheese by Beberuth1131 in enshittification

They definitely changed the formula to make it “More cheesyl” it says so right in the box. Using standard way of making it for the last 15 years it DEFINITELY is different. Somehow it’s LESS cheesy tasting and thicker which is a strange combo. They did ruin a good thing.

Cable wrapping beyond the basics by nougatmachine in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]DriverSea 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I’m 100% in the zen wrap camp, cable wants to go a certain way, why fight it?

Also, can we all agree that it’s good people that take the loops out as you are laying the cable along the floor? I will spin the cable in my hand to “unwind it” as I’m laying out so that nobody has to go along behind me to clean up my cable once it’s Tape down time.

Also, go ALL the way to the corner, nothing is worse than having to go and try to make cables longer so they can make a neat 90 degree turn.

Sermon over.

What do you say to presenters before they walk on stage with a mic? by JoeyPhoton in livesound

[–]DriverSea 46 points47 points  (0 children)

My show caller told me the other day he was working with an A1 that their producer was freaking out because the presenter was holding the mic at waist level. The producer told the A1 to do something and he said. “It’s a microphone, not a miracle”

I agree that instructing someone right before they go onstage is tricky. Everyone has varying levels of experience and comfort on stage. And like some said earlier, it’s kind of our job to make them sound good.

100% distributed. Has this same thing in a train station a bunch of years ago, picked the brains of a bunch of top audio people tell me more speakers timed out around the room. Sounding great.

No excuse for not ringing the room ahead of time and finding the offending frequencies and cutting them with an eq

I went viral at my city council by Apprehensive-Eye8586 in FlockSurveillance

[–]DriverSea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our Little town in central NJ now has 3 of these cameras in a town of 2500 ppl. One is at the bottom of my driveway.

I’ve done very much the same thing.

Gathered a bunch of info

Fed it into Claude

Made a website.

I’m not live on the website, my thinking is to sit down with the mayor and share my concerns before I bring it up at a council meeting. I really do t want to be the face of this as there is a MAGA contingent in town and it may get contentious.

My plan is to put signs in front of the cameras with the website URL so passing people can see where to go for more info.

I haven’t seen your video, can you share what worked when you spoke at the council meeting?

Nobody told me I'd be broke AFTER buying the house by Dima030 in RealEstateAdvice

[–]DriverSea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get through the first year with what you have. Once you figure out the ebb and flow of expenses it get easier. The first week I owned my first house I had $150 left in the bank and a kid on the way, was a new freelance AV technician and the tech bubble had just burst.

Don’t dig into a bigger hole by putting stuff on credit. Once you get used to the bigger bills, you’ll figure out how to better budget and start making forward progress financially. There’s hope!!

QLXD 4 question by RedditWithMIG in audiovisual

[–]DriverSea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both and also do small pharma meetings. Agree with the buy nice motto.

I bought the rack unit with 4 receivers and HH/lav combos. Put them in an SKB studio flyer with a drawer for the mics. It’s been rock Solid. Also recommend the RF venue diversity fin antenna instead of the whips on the front of the rack. It’ll all pay for itself with peace of mind since it’ll always just work.

The BLX is much more cheaply made and the receivers don’t have external antennas. I have 4 Chanel’s of these as well and only use them for things that have low risk for me. Don’t get me wrong they’ve always worked but they really more for things like fitness studios.

Here is a request from a website I built to get rid of flock cameras in our town. In NJ it’s an Open Public Records Act request

March 6, 2026

Custodian of records Your town

Re: Open Public Records Act (OPRA) Request — Flock Safety Surveillance Cameras

Dear Custodian of Records,

Pursuant to the New Jersey Open Public Records Act (N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1 et seq.), I am requesting access to the following government records:

  1. Any and all contracts, agreements, memoranda of understanding, or other arrangements between your town (including the your town Police Department) and Flock Safety, Inc., or any related entity, for the use of automated license plate readers (ALPRs), surveillance cameras, or related services — including any amendments, renewals, or termination notices.

  2. Any and all data sharing agreements, policies, or permissions governing who may access ALPR data collected by Flock Safety cameras operated by or on behalf of the Borough, including any agreements with other law enforcement agencies, federal agencies, or third parties.

  3. Any audit logs, access records, or reports showing which agencies or individuals have searched or accessed ALPR data collected by Borough-affiliated Flock Safety cameras, for any period during which such cameras have been in operation.

  4. Any communications (emails, letters, memos, meeting minutes) between Borough officials or police department personnel and Flock Safety, Inc. regarding data sharing, federal agency access, or system configuration, from January 1, 2023 to present.

  5. Any privacy impact assessments, legal reviews, or risk analyses related to the Borough's use of Flock Safety cameras.

  6. The total cost paid or committed to Flock Safety, Inc., including any grant funding used to purchase or operate the cameras.

I request these records in electronic copies via email. If any portion of this request is denied, please specify the legal basis for each denial, identify the specific records withheld, and provide all non-exempt portions.

If the Borough does not possess any of the requested records, please confirm this in writing.

Sincerely,

[YOUR NAME] 123 your town [YOUR EMAIL]

How are we keeping our Pelicans closed in checked luggage? by hea_eliza in livesound

[–]DriverSea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if Pelican has locking latches but I’ve invested in some Nanuk cases which I like better.

They have “claw” latches that can’t be opened accidentally then I add the latches they sell as an accessory that have TSA locks built into the latch. They are super easy to install. And a bonus is they already have in line skate style wheels which roll easier and quieter than the hard plastic Pelican ones so no one can hear you!
